SCOTUS votes 6-3 to reopen shuttered Texas

Posted: Oct 15, 2014

while two separate actions challenging MD hospital admitting privilege requirements and costly reconstruction mandates make their way to the Supreme Court's doorsteps.  Fogey Justices Scalia, Alito and Thomas were the only dissenting opinions.  Those numbers are looking good.  The day SCOTUS finally puts Texas tyranny to rest once and for all can't get here soon enough.

Amen to that! Good news for Texas women - who want to make their own choices.

I looked in the Constitution to see where it granted the right to commit wilfull homicide but, funny thing, I couldn't find it. Maybe I should check the French constitution.

SCOTUS is leaning in the direction - of

upholding free choice for reproductive women to control their own bodies, based on 14th Amendment rights of privacy, personal liberty and restrictions upon state action. It's in there, and it's a 6-3 anti-Big-Government decision to uphold the Constitution. Simply stated, the states and the feds are not allowed to intrude on the privacy of family planning or the physical constitution of women's reproductive systems. It's a no-brainer.

Article I, Section 8, Clause 11, commonly referred to as the War Powers Clause.

Conservatives don't quite see their penchant for war and killing actual people in nation building exercises as willful homicide, but they see two cells in a Petri dish as humans that must be protected at all costs, the common theme being to force their geopolitical and/or religious views on everyone worldwide.

I have a questions for the liberals here.  I've heard some liberal talking heads state that they believe that if the SCOTUS rules all or part of ObamaCare unconstitutional that it would actually be a good thing for the Dems and Pres Obama.  Do you agree?  On that same line of thinking, if the law is ruled constitutional, do you think it would be a good thing for the Republicans?  In other words, if you lose you win and if you win you also win.  ?? ...

Oyez! Oyez! Oyez!  Is it just me or is anyone else bothered by the fact that there are no cameras allowed during the ObamaCare arguments?  I know they never allow cameras in the SC and I think I understand why they don't --- in order to prevent any distractions with grandstanding and drama by the attorneys.  That, and the fact they are the highest court in the land and most judges in this country are notoriously known for hating cameras.  Even still, since this ruling w ...

The exact quote is, “Just because a couple of people on the Supreme Court declare something to be 'constitutional' does not make it so."  OMG.  Is this the best the TP has to offer?  Is this the same Tea Party whose platform is founded on the principle that, "The U.S. Constitution is the supreme law of the land and must be adhered to without exception at all levels of government?"  One has to wonder if he has ever read it.  Then he said, "The Tea P ...

Dems Lack 60 Votes In Senate Feb 14, 2013
Good! Republican leaders in the Senate have told Senate Democrats they will withhold enough votes to prevent a 60-vote majority that would end debate on Hagel and allow a final vote, according to a Senate Democratic leadership aide. The move means Hagel will not be confirmed until at least after the Presidents Day recess, and that he will not be able to travel to a NATO meeting next week where the Afghanistan war will be discussed. Retiring Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has pledged ...

After a protester interrupted him repeatedly, Bill Clinton began to take on that critique directly, making the claim that his crime bill was ...

I Hope Trump Gets Enough Electoral VotesOct 24, 2016
I see no purpose to the electoral college if we the people vote. It nearly cancels out the largest majority for whatever candidate wins. They have to have enough electoral votes. What I don't understand is does the one with the most electoral votes win even if they didn't get the most actual votes from the people? I say we need to do away with that and super packs and all else that causes one to buy an election. I think we should go back to paper ballots too. I am sick to death o ...
