Oh, WOW- They are nominating at the RNC and Ron Paul is getting some votes

Posted: Aug 28, 2012

I can name all the states but AN, NV, some others gave part of the otes to Ron Paul, but Romney made it with 1150 and that's without all the states. They only got to NJ, who gave all 50 votes to Romney.

Not only Ron Paul, but Rick Santorum, Gingrich, and Bachman got a couple votes, but the station didn't break them all out. They did in the beginning before the delegates nominated "other" but Ron Paul got the majority of the "other" votes.

Does anyone know why Ron Paul's votes weren't announced - at the podium when the delegations called

Rthem out? I heard that after they being ignored (wouldn't affect the outcome, what harm would it be?), supporters started shouting "Free Ron Paul!" every time it happened.

Are they worried that the racism he's been keeping quiet out will tarnish the party? That's all I can think of, but it's probably something else. Maybe he didn't toe the party line somehow and is being punished? I confess I haven't paid attention to him even if he is a little phenomenon.

Oh, they are just doing to Paul what they plan to do to - minorities, women, elderly and disabled

Remember that floor fight Paul delegates wanted? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that was over the GOP platform that gives Romney the right to change at will delegates (as in hand pick them) even though those are elected officials.

Well, roll call was supposed to happen on Monday, a day when there was no national media coverage..so that they could deal with. However, because of the hurricane, roll call was moved to today, and consequently Paul delegates were moved...literally...to the physical outskirts of the convetion...out of sight and hearing distance...lol.

They don't want any more fuss out of that then necessary, so I'm guessing they didn't announce Paul delegates to keep folks quiet about it. It doesn't look good on TV when the presidential nominee is seen as strong arming his own party.
Ah, thanks. Even a little machination like this makes me realized - those waters would be way too deep for me. NM

He didn't win enough states to be considered for a nomination. - Zville MT

I would have liked for them to announce it too, but apparently it doesn't work that way.
He did but they changed the rule from 5 to 8. - sm

He also won other states such as Massachusetts, Louisiana, and Maine. They threw out Ron Paul's delegates and replaced them with pre-selected Romney delegates. There were also issues with Alaska, Colorado, and Arizona.
That makes sense... - Zville MT

I thought he had won several states, but I didn't know what the number was - didn't know it was changed either. Thanks for the info :)

were announcing RP's votes until other nominations started to take place. Guess they didn't want to spend the extra time announcing all the nominations because some only got 1 or 2 (MB comes to mind) and they were on a time constraint.

Rinse Pubis and the RNC stole his delegates. - sm

The blowback will be no support for Romney in the general. I will vote Gary Johnson and I will help the lefties try and prevent election theft, which is apparently what the Romney campaign has up their sleeve.

This may be a dumb question, but can - voters write in "Ron Paul" for

[ In Reply To ..]
the general election in November? I'm having brain fog at the moment, but I'm sure in the past people have written in things like "Mickey Mouse," "George Washington," etc.....or am I thinking of something other than the general presidential election?

If I were so totally disgusted as the Ron Paul supporters must be, I'd be very tempted to do a write-in vote.

Yes...you can write in anyone you want - Trigger Happy

I do have to give Ron Paul supporters some credit...they are a loyal bunch. The guy that tunes my piano gave me a Ron Paul pamphlet before he handed me my receipt the last time he tuned my piano. lol I like some of what he says but he comes off as a nut job to me when he speaks.

The biggest crap shoot about this whole party system we have is that all those Ron Paul supporters may very well get Obama re-elected if they write him in. Clinton got voted in because Perot took so many votes away from Bush. Romney could potentially lose quite a few votes that way and that would ensure we are stuck with Obama another 4 years.

Why waste a vote? Ron Paul is RETIRING this year (nm)_ - backwards typist

Dems Lack 60 Votes In Senate Feb 14, 2013
Good! Republican leaders in the Senate have told Senate Democrats they will withhold enough votes to prevent a 60-vote majority that would end debate on Hagel and allow a final vote, according to a Senate Democratic leadership aide. The move means Hagel will not be confirmed until at least after the Presidents Day recess, and that he will not be able to travel to a NATO meeting next week where the Afghanistan war will be discussed. After a protester interrupted him repeatedly, Bill Clinton began to take on that critique directly, making the claim that his crime bill was ...

I Hope Trump Gets Enough Electoral VotesOct 24, 2016
I see no purpose to the electoral college if we the people vote. It nearly cancels out the largest majority for whatever candidate wins. They have to have enough electoral votes. What I don't understand is does the one with the most electoral votes win even if they didn't get the most actual votes from the people? I say we need to do away with that and super packs and all else that causes one to buy an election. I think we should go back to paper ballots too. I am sick to death o ...
