Romney forgot to mention troops because speeches

Posted: Sep 7, 2012

you "talk about the things you think are important."  Yep.  Said it clear as day in an interview with Flox.  He went on to explain that we were supposed to understand he was talking about them when he referred to the "military" (as in the Military Industrial Complex).  Oh, OK.  Silly us.  Well then, mister candidate, what did you say about the military?  Did you speak of the ultimate sacrifice made by the fallen, sympathize with grieving families, or address rehab, medical care, jobs, housing and education for the injured returning vets?

Let's see.  There were exactly two "military" sentences in the acceptance speech.

"His (Obama's) trillion dollar cuts to our military will eliminate hundereds of thousands of jobs, and also put our security at risk." Would that be soldier duty assignments, mister candidate, or jobs lost at the Pentagon and down the private contractor's pike? We understand that specifics aren't your strong suit, but could you please elaborate?

"That America, that united American, will preserve a military that is so strong, no nation would ever DARE to test it."  Could this be the bluster and blunder the President was talking about?  I wonder.

IMO, this is exactly what VP Joe Biden was talking about when he said the Rominator could not see the peeps behind the GM salvage story, but he could see the crisis "the Bain way."  Bad investment.  Too risky.  Bottom line dictates let them go bankrupt.

OK.  Can anyone suggest an effective crash course he could take between now and the debates to teach him the difference between human troops and military system spreadsheets?  Anyone?

Ann Romney has a message and she’s sticking to it.

Pressed to expand on her campaign talking points during an interview today with Davenport, Iowa’s KWQC, the Republican candidate’s wife accused anchor David Nelson of trying to drag her into a debate about “hot-button issues that distract from what the real voting issue is going to be at this election.”

“Do you believe that employer-provided health insurance should be required to cover birth control?” Nelson asked Mrs. Romney earlier.

“Again, you’re asking me questions that are not about what this election is going to be about,” she said. ”This election is going to be about the economy and jobs.”

Nelson countered, pointing to a Pew research poll, that “shows those issues are very important to women,” who ranked them “either ‘important’ or ‘very important.’”

Mrs. Romney smiled, but repeated comments about the troubled jobs market.

“So really,” she said, finally, ” if you want to try to pull me off of the other messages, it’s not going to work because I know, because I’ve been out there.”

Romney aides like to call the candidate’s wife their “secret weapon,” a conduit to the female voters the Obama campaign has worked so hard to alienate from the Republican ticket.

During her Republican National Convention speech, Ann Romney made a blunt appeal, at one point yelling, “I love you women!”

***, so I guess such notions as restricting the size of one's family in accordance to household economic resources and spacing the arrival of the little blessed events while trying to finish a degree is off her radar screen. One would think, though, that even Annie could groc such concepts as the inconvenience of becoming pregnant while on a second or third round of radiation therapy, or a mom's desire to avoid conception of a child riddled with birth defects and DNA mutations post chemotherapy.

We don't luv ya back, Mrs. R.

What jealousy.
Whether or not the poster you're responding to is - jealous doesn't change

the fact that Mr. & Mrs. Mitt are completely out of touch. That's not our fault... it's theirs and GOPers for nominating him. The "you're jealous" response just doesn't cut it and makes the person using it look kinda out of touch as well.
You really need to get some new material. - FYI

I come from a wealthy family, one who had lots and lots of it. They weren't quite up there in the Romney's league, but when annual household incomes reach the multiple millions, who's counting? My dad was an attorney who helped his mom run a real estate business that had in excess of 500 plots with commercial and residential dwellings in the poor section of West Dallas.

Fortunately, I inherited my dad's black sheep gene. He taught me invaluable lessons about blue bloods and snoot factors and showed me the difference between the realities of regular folks versus the terminally out-of-touch. As soon as I graduated from HS, I ran as far away from that as I could possibly get, with his blessing, and never looked back. I've never kept a dime of their money since then.

That's not jealousy you detect. It's a way different kind of resentment I feel when I contrast Romney's slouchy approach citizenship and his compulsive tax-dodging ways with my own family's values.

I grew up during the Eisenhour administration. Where I came from, my grandmother and dad taught us about the "blessings" of wealth and charity. Never once did I hear them complain about paying their fair share, which at that time was hovering around 92% marginal tax rate. They still had plenty, plenty, plenty left over at the end of the tax year, and took great pride in the fruits of their labors, every time programs for the poor were expanded, or a new highway or bridge was built. You see, welfare benefits landed right back in their pockets, since those folks were their tenants. Funny how that works out.

It would appear you are the one who is research poor. The Obamas don't pull in multiple millions every year. By the sheer masses of wealth the Romneys have by comparison, and the global map of numerous offshore accounts on just about every continent except Antartica, there is no comparison between the two couples in terms of foreign money.

Besides, they are on the right side of the BC debate, and are not promoting policies that micromanage every cell of a woman's reproductive system. That means I have no issue with their private decisions about family planning.

Annie, on the other hand, is spouting gibberish that reveals a total disconnect and complete cluelessness regarding the relationship between BC, family planning, economics, employment of working moms and the like, while at the same time making a lame "I love you Women!" vote grab. Therefore, my issue and subsequent comments are directed her way. I trust I've made myself clear on this subject, so you go right ahead and run your mouth about that irrelevant do-re-me silly stuff. For me, it does not compute on any appreciable level.

Granted they don't make multiple millions every year but he's still a multimillionaire.

2006: almost $1
2007: $4,230M
2008: $2,736M
2009: $5,623M
2010: $1,795M (book sales started falling)
2011: $844,585. This was the lowest income since 2006...Why? Cuz he has more deductions?

read what the site states his ideas are instead of his voice interview about it. It's not the first time I HEARD Romney speak about the military. I know this is long but how about reading this:

"We are now just months away from an arbitrary, across-the-board budget reduction that would weaken the military with a trillion dollars in cuts, severely shrink our force structure, and impair our ability to meet and deter threats.

President Obama’s own Secretary of Defense has warned that these reductions would be “devastating.” And he is right. The devastation will be felt here at home, where up to 1.5 million jobs could be lost. GDP growth could fall significantly. These cuts will place further stress on an already stretched VA system, and impair our solemn commitment that every veteran receives care second to none.

A year ago, President Obama told your national convention that, “We cannot, we must not, we will not, balance the budget on the backs of our veterans.” I thought I finally agreed with him on something – but now, he is on the verge of breaking that promise.

The Obama administration is set to cut defense spending by nearly a trillion dollars. My administration will not.

Working together with my running mate, Paul Ryan, I will make reductions in other areas and install pro-growth policies to make sure that our country remains safe and secure. There are plenty of places to cut in a federal budget that now totals well over $3 trillion a year, but defense is not one of them.

Beyond the President’s failure to deliver an economic recovery, and beyond his reckless defense cuts, are the reproachable failures at the VA. The backlog for disability claims has doubled on his watch. There are now close to one million claims waiting to be processed. Veterans face unconscionable waits for mental health treatment. Every day, 18 servicemen and veterans take their own lives – an unspeakable and unacceptable tragedy.
The Obama administration has also requested $12 billion in TRICARE fee increases. I will not ask our wartime military to shoulder more sacrifices while the rest of government grows. I will not ask our service members – active or retired – to pay more for their health care to free up room for Obamacare.

I will keep faith with our troops and our veterans – and my administration will do better by them. I was astounded to read about a federal building in Virginia that became structurally unstable in 2010 because so many veterans’ claims had stacked up inside it. I am going to make reforming that agency a personal priority of mine – and I’ve already started thinking about the policies I will put in place to make it work better for you.

I will modify the Post 9/11 GI Bill so that any veteran wishing to continue his or her education is eligible for in-state tuition, regardless of residency.
To make it easier for veterans to find employment in skilled trades, I will work with the states to create a common credentialing and licensing standard, and encourage credentialing organizations to recognize and grant credit for military training.

Right now the VA has a shortage of mental health care professionals. I will hire more – and any time a veteran is unable to receive timely health care from the VA system, he or she will be allowed to see a TRICARE provider at the VA’s expense.

I have said before that this must be an American Century. And to accomplish that, we must have the strongest military and the strongest economy in the world.

Regrettably, President Obama has failed on both counts. As his term in office comes to an end, we are now further from making this an American Century. Our economy is weak, and our military is bracing for devastating cuts.
