Throwing free speech to the wind, if these Dems don't get on board with Obama, they will be ostracized for daring to disagree. "The liberal Coalition to Stop Gun Violence released a video ad Wednesday condemning Democratic Georgia Rep. John Barrow for not fully supporting President Barack Obamaâ��s gun control policies. "The ad, which states, 'Shame on You, John Barrow,' is an attempt to force the Democrat to change his position and 'support the presidentâ��s gun policy proposals,' according to a Coalition press release." consider the Minority Whip and Minority Leader. :) I have no idea what they're doing to round up support, but Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer, who both agree with Obama's call for greater control, are no amateurs. They're both old pros and very good at what they do, and they know how to use all their carrots and sticks to best effect. If it can be done, they will get it done. Was there anything inaccurate in that ad? Barrow did announce proudly his support for the NRA in his 2012 camp ads, publicized and ran on his opposition gun law reforms, didn't he? He reiterated his opposition as recently as Wednesday...yes or no? No one held a gun to his head then, and they are not doing that now. Unless you are a Sandy Hook "Truther," surely you do not deny that the shooting happened.

Evidently the coalition, along with countless vocal partisan and public supporters of reform, took the imperative to get various politicians' positions on the subject "on record" very seriously. That includes dems as well as republicans. Evidently, they are also quite serious about keeping the issue alive, front and center. I can think of no better way to do that than a drip, drip, drip campaign of public exposure. To that end, it would be prudent for them to expose at least one from each party per day in no uncertain terms, and ask the question all supporters (and in this case, democratic voters) want answered. Are you more concerned about keeping your A+ rating with the NRA and preserving their unimpeded flow of campaign funds in the direction of your coffers, or did you come to DC to represent the interests of your constituents, who by vast bipartisan majorities, are making their voices heard...loud and clear?

I consider this approach to be nothing more than a public service announcement, and support their campaign 100%. The battle cry on this side of the aisle is "Get It Done," and I can think of no better way to achieve that goal than the exercise of 1st Amendment rights.

but there are avenues other than those paved by the NRA that will support and protect our 2nd ammendment rights. I do not oppose Barrow's support of responsible gun ownership; it is his support of the NRA that I find troubling, counterproductive, and entirely political.

I realize that his grandrather used his gun to stop a lynching - undeniably, a good use for a firearm. But his grandfather's integrity is not the issue here.
