New York taxis built in Mexico

I just read an article that said the next generation taxi for New York will be built at a Nissan plant in Mexico. Does this annoy anyone else....or am I the only one with my panties in a twist about this?

Virtually NONE. The vast majority of it has been shipped out. Most "comfortable" U.S. brands: Hershey's chocolate, La-Z-Boy, etc. have moved their plants elsewhere.

This is BY DESIGN. Our politicians know EXACTLY what they're doing (taking down the U.S. economy, destroying the middle class, ushering in the new world order). If you didn't watch Diane Sawyer's "Made in America" series, you missed some interesting stuff. There's still some manufacturing done here. Furniture in NC, light bulbs, dishes, bedding, and clothing. Then there's the outsourced (made in USA) parts for car manufacturers. Don't you remember how bad it got for them during TARP?

It's just harder to find Made in USA stuff, but if you look hard, you can find them.

When I visit back east my family takes me on a "tour" - love getting the tours of the area I grew up in :-). In the east there are many many old textile mills. It's sad to see them just closed like the only thing that lives there are ghosts. My grandparents, great aunts & uncles and other relatives grew up working in the textile mills. Do you think it would ever be possible to get those mills back up and running and begin manufacturing here in the US or is that such a complicated deal that we will never see anything more come of it. Wish I had seen the Made In America series. My MIL sent me a list of products made in the USA.

There is 1 textile mill left in our area and somehow they found a niche for their products. They make products for name brands and are doing well. They have 2 mills. They bought the Wearever Pen recently and that's a very large building and have a larger new building in another town, so they are growing.

Van Heusen is still around too, but don't know what they make lately, if anything. I never hear about them anymore.

So there is hope, if even if it's a small one.

It annoys me very much, but I reject the conspiracy argument part of it - Conspiracism Overused Is Silly

Companies and their shareholders are interested in profit. They are not interested in providing jobs for Americans. It isn't a conspiracy. It's capitalism. Our tax system has allowed them to abuse the situation, but that's just the way it is. It's not a stinkin' conspiracy. Good grief! Not everything in life is a conspiracy.
