And if you so wish, on this very page there are links to the myriad of gleeful right wing and MSM (corporate) articles who pounced on the idea that 2 million jobs were to be lost, which is actually not the case.

I think we have ample example of such people on this very board, witness those nearing retirement age who have decided to stop being played by bad employers, those who would rather work 2 part time jobs and thus become eligible for Obamacare because it is better coverage, better premiums and it is subsidized.

Please, it might be great for CEOs and corporations and Wall Street for us little people to have to work 2 and 3 low paying jobs to make a living AND get benefits, but why oh why does anyone at our level of income, making our terrible salary, think so?

It is so obvious that the ACA is a great boon for people in our precarious situation, most of us at will workers who can be let go at any time, MTSOs furiously trying to cut their bottom line by doing whatever they can get away with to cut our pay and slash benefits. They will even try to get you to quit rather than have to pay unemployment, they are unscrupulous about one thing and that is their profits.

All I can say is we need to get a grip and if you are cheerleading for people who are trying their best to nickel and dime you out of a decent lifestyle and a living wage, why?

MTSOs can no longer drop you from their health insurance (terrible insurance) for dropping below the full time requirement of 40 hours per week. I think that many of us who kept plodding along for less and less money because we needed the insurance and had no other option will be happy to drop back to part time and participate in the ACA exchanges to get their own much better insurance. What a relief! I know we deal MTs that now feel able to go out on their own and get away from the blood sucking MTSOs. Most will qualify for subsidies too. Another point is, that with these people leaving or decreasing their hours, the currently unemployed will find more opportunities for securing a job.

Sure, why not? We're subsidizing everyone else in the world, - why not?

Like retiring early or quitting job and starting new business because insurance and be obtained through ACA.

unemployment rate based on the number of people collecting unemployment is crazy. There are people who are eligible and never apply for benefits, as well as people whose benefits expire (as is happening now), people only working part time, and independent contractors who are not eliglble for unemployment benefits but nevertheless are not working. Has anyone considered taking a court reporting course and learning to use a stenography machine? I've been looking into jobs doing closed capationing and I'm intrigued. The money looks to be pretty good. But, I look at a steno machine and think....OMG, there is no way I can learn to use that.
