They're reporting Ambassador Stevens was the one killed in Libya

Posted: Sep 12, 2012

It's not confirmed but this is what they're saying. The US is only "nervous" about this? Isn't this a reason for war? After all, embassies around the world are the property of the country that "lives" there. They have attacked the USA.

It's a slap in the face that Egypt and Libya did this, especially Libya after the help they were given in their uprising.

You talk as if you know what goes behind those dirty doors in world politics. Also, don't so easily forget that US of A is obsessed with being the lone superpower of the world. I am afraid of the days when the resistance will start hitting the homeland quite regularly. It is still limited to their countries for the time being.

You think it's funny that they attacked the embassies and killed the Ambassador? - backwards typist

I don't find it funny at all.

Define "they." - Here. Let me help.

The protests in both countries were sparked by outrage over a film ridiculing Muhammad produced by an Israeli filmmaker living in California and being promoted by an extreme anti-Muslim Egyptian Christian campaigner in the United States. Excerpts from the film dubbed into Arabic were posted on YouTube.

So which country mobilized troops and stormed the embassies? What actions do you suggest be taken against the Christian bigots, Israeli filmaker or YouTube translators who released the anti-Islamic garbage? Should we all go out and burn a couple of thousand Qurans to support these actions? Wouldn't a declaration of war also be a declaration of US support for them?

What exactly are you trying to say?

"Should we all go out and burn a couple of thousand Qurans to support these actions? Wouldn't a declaration of war also be a declaration of US support for them?"

Support what actions? US support for whom?

What action should be taken? I don't know. Though I'm not suggesting it would be the right thing to do, this could justifiably be considered an act of war if, as I'm hearing, it's true that the Libyan officials stood by and watched this happen. The acts of citizens are one thing, but a host country is charged with protecting foreign embassies.

Remember when the USS Cole was attacked? Nothing was done then, which made them brave(r). Attacks became more frequent until 9/11 happened.

For pete's sake, they attacked the US by attacking the embassies! They destroyed the flag at those embassies. Are we to apologize for a movie not even produced by a well-known producer?

Well......sm - JTBB

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't think we need to go in and dessimate an already upheaved country. Sorry, but one US life is not enough to justify the thousands that would be killed in a war. And exactly how are we supposed to pay for that war, or do we just stick it on the tab with the other two? No.....war is not always the answer.
It's up to 3 dead now. Confirmed. - backwards typist

We just can't let our enemies keep getting away with this kind of stuff. It makes us look weak.

I really don't know what should be done, but we shouldn't tuck our tails between our legs and run away.

it should be taken against those who are guilty of the crime, not a whole country. Not taking immediate action and just bombing the hell out of them is not being weak. I'm not willing to risk more American lives for a knee jerk reaction.
What about the Terry Jones connection to the - film's producer, Morris Sadek?

What about the role the internet played in the events leading up to the protests? Just how could have the Libyan and Egyptian governments intervened to prevent it?

When was the last time we declared war - against a democratic country where

Two wars not paid for, countless lives lost, and we still have people in this country begging for more of the same. How about you just put on your war gear, hop a flight to the Middle East, and risk your own life since you think bruit force is the only answer. I, for one, appreciate that the president is wise enough to get all the facts and weigh all the options before sending other people's sons and daughters off to war.

clips on YouTube of an anti-Islam film made in California that nobody actually heard of and used them in a TV campaign to inflame those who are eager to hate--who in turn happily joined in this hate campaign by posting them to each other on political websites with inflammatory statements, additional lies, etc., etc.

Does this behavior sound familiar to anyone here?

The threshold for a war is much much larger than what you can come up from your home, watching television and browsing internet. I laughed on your ignorance. As I said earlier, all this jingoism is because the fighting is taking place in other countries. Once this menace reaches home, you will forget the spelling of war.

It most certainly does sound familiar - mbmt

Ambassador Stevens "slipped Into Libya On A Cargo ShipSep 12, 2012
This is from ABC News. I think we lost a good guy here. "During the early days of the Libyans' fight to overthrow Moammar Gadhafi, Christopher Stevens wrangled a ride on a Greek cargo ship and sailed into the rebels' stronghold city of Benghazi. He arrived at a time when the crackle of gunfire could be heard each night. Stevens and his team didn't even have a place to stay, but found space in a hotel briefly, moving out after a car bomb went off in the parking lot, acc ...

Stevens Emails Show 'total Disconnect' Between Security Needs In Benghazi, WashingtonOct 19, 2015
The truth is finally coming out. Blocking of Hillary's emails, and thehandling of Ambassador Stevens' request for more security by ignoring his requests is more than despicable.  Who is responsible? I hope people will wake up soon and realize she only wants the job because she can siphon off more dollars for her benefit, just like ...

No End In Sight For U.S. In LibyaMay 18, 2011
The United States is now deep into a seemingly endless, aimless war in Libya, through NATO and in its own right. The rebels against the government of Moammar Gadhafi, based for the most part in eastern Libya, are deeply divided and largely unable to take advantage of the NATO military support they are receiving. Western military advisers are also on the ground. They find the rebels undisciplined and disorganized in their efforts to advance militarily to take towns that Mr. Gadhafi's forces ...
