My respect for the Bushes has diminished.

Posted: May 7, 2016

They could have taken a "no-comment' approach to whether or not they would support Trump.  That's the approach they've basically taken toward Obama, and I understood and respected it.

They could not exercise that sort of class when it came to Trump...and I find the distinction very strange.  They could watch Obama destroy the country and say essentially nothing, but when Jeb gets trounced in a primary election, all of a sudden they can't wait to get in front of a camera.

Well, it's nice to know that if nothing else, the - Bush Boys arent as dumb as we thought!

They are pretty dumb and intelligent people are catching on - kicking Jeb to the curb

Stupid dynasty hoping to continue. Public knows crooks when they see them. Bye-bye Jeb and 2 Georges. Don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out.

Bush non-endorsement is an endorsement for Trump - he does not need establishment.

Really, the establishment is running scared that the bribery from special interest groups has ruined our economy, including shipping MT AMERICAN record jobs offshore.

I've always liked the Bushes (Jeb not so much), and - I agree with you.

Funny how it was okay for Trump to attack the Bushes first - Truthhurts

That's the reason they decided not to back him. I wouldn't have been as nice. They stayed out of the campaign until Trump's attack even though they all knew he's not a real conservative, but enough is enough.

I still respect the Bushes for having the patience and the integrity to stay quiet as long as they did and I will always respect them for not turning the Oval Office into a circus like others we all know.

You have the timing wrong. Trump did not take - the first shot, contrary to reports.

Nice narrative, though.

So all you're saying is that the Bushes can be pulled - into eye-for-eye type responses.

Offering the excuse of the sort that you do ("he started it...neener-neener-neener") for the reprehensible announcements about voting for Trump only makes the Bushes look all the more common and cheap.

It certainly does not redound to their character as you seem to think that it does. It's an extremely trashy and adolescent excuse, as a matter of fact.

Bush Trash. Wonder how competent he was - invading Iraq when Saudi Arabia was behind the att

George Bush was a fool and when Jeb wanted to follow his brother the people realized they did not want another Bush fool in office. Thank you voters! Do the same with Clinton.

We do not need a repeat Clinton administration either. Clinton brought us NAFTA which enabled jobs to be sent to other countries. He was a sleazy cheat and his wife defended him at the expense of the women who accused him.

The Bushes lost my respect years ago. Who cares who they will support - Mrs. Tingles

They should keep their pie holes shut cos people don't care who they support or not.

This Is 1 Lib Whom I Respect!Jan 03, 2012
I am a diehard conservative but NOT a neocon.  In my almost 50 years, I have encountered only a few (literally: 3) liberals who earned my respect because they could articulate their beliefs in a cogent, intelligent, erudite manner AND they are based upon FACTS rather than FEELINGS. Chris Hedges is a Pulitzer Prize winner and has done some incredible things in his life.  His story is so riveting it drew me in and I listened to the entire 3-hour interview (which I NEVER do).  ...

Have Some Respect. SmDec 15, 2012
What a bunch of sick people on this Politics section.  These children are either still lying where they were slain in their classrooms or being moved to a temporary morgue brought on site as I post this, according to latest State Police update, and people here are fighting and ranting and raving.  My state is in mourning.  Have some respect. I'm shaking my head in disgust. ...

Women With No RespectJul 05, 2014
I'll try not to make this too long, but would love advice.  Hubby and brother not very close, but my daughter and BIL's brother are best of friends/cousins.  BIL raised daughter himself for years and about 6 months ago met a girl who he moved in and now she raises the daughter while BIL works on the road.  BIL likes the fact that the new girl takes full charge and he can kind of just come and go or whatever, work all of the time, not deal with family life, I think.   ...

Lack Of Respect For ObamaSep 05, 2011
G.O.P. vs. Obama: Disrespect or Just Politics? By JENNIFER STEINHAUER WASHINGTON — American presidents often have highly disagreeable relationships with members of Congress from the opposing party. Trying Hard To Respect Obama Voters But MostNov 13, 2012
do not respect those of us who did not vote for him.  If I am concerned about where the country is headed; is that not my right to feel that way and to talk about it?  Do I totally blame Obama for how the economy is now?  Heck no .. it has been 20-30 years in the making.  It's just that this spending, spending, spending that scares the crap out of me.  It's the government now being able to take money out of my accounts without my permission (in the Obama ...

(paraphrasing) he had high hopes that BO would be able to advance the country, take it to the next level as far as race relations, as MLK would have wanted and himself did.  Instead, he uses the day to go back to one of his speeches about how "some folks don't like him because he's black."  He said there is a lot he could have done but always prefers to set us on a backward course to stir up his base.  Once again, you've nailed it, Charles. ...

Moderation, Respect And Humility: How Conservatives And LiberalsDec 01, 2016
Ask my age and I'll tell you that I'm old enough to remember an age of relatively peaceful - and even constructive - coexistence among Americans, whether they self-identified as "conservative" or "liberal."  I say "relatively peaceful" because I don't mean to imply that people didn't have strong feelings about issues, or that there weren't passionate disagreements. But there wasn't the raw, nasty, unreasoning hatred that I see today. Ask my age, and I'l ...

House Bill Would Restore Respect For Immigration Law And The Constitutional ProcessJan 08, 2015
The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) applauds the introduction of Repeal Executive Amnesty Act of 2015, a bill that would not only defund the president's unconstitutional amnesty, but would block further attempts by this or future administrations to rewrite immigration laws through executive memos. After six years of systematically dismantling and undermining immigration enforcement, the Repeal Executive Amnesty Act, introduced by Reps. Robert Aderholt (R-Ala.),&n ...
