A prominent Muslim leader has called for a boycott of international coffee brand Starbucks because its support for gay marriage is 'not in line' with Islamic law. Anwar Abbas, the leader of Muhammadiyah, a 30 million-strong group in Indonesia, said Starbucks' pro-gay stance threatened the 'religious and cultured' core of the Southeast Asian nation. 'If Starbucks only does business, then fine. But don't bring ideology here,' Abbas told Reuters on Saturday. ;

[ In Reply To ..]Religions have drawn all sorts of lines in morality that people who are not near the source (i.e. Catholics and the Pope) do not abide by. Most of the time they quietly make their own decisions and consider this an exception to their religious participation.
In this case, a part of the Muslim religion in SE Asia has pronounced an edict (probably as much opposition to Western ways in their country as anything) for the people of Southeast Asia and/or extremely stringent followers everywhere to abide by.
