Boycott Starkist

Subject: No more StarKist Tuna or Del Monte products for  me

Sorry  Charley...No more StarKist Tuna for me

SNOPES” VALIDATES THE FACTS BELOW:

Speaker of  the House Nancy Pelosi’s home district includes San Francisco .    StarKist Tuna’s headquarters are in San Francisco, Pelosi’s home  district.    StarKist is owned by Del Monte Foods and is a  major contributor to Pelosi.    StarKist is the major  employer in American Samoa employing 75% of the Samoan work force.    Paul Pelosi, Nancy’s husband, owns $17 million  of StarKist stock.  In January, 2007 when the minimum wage was increased from $5.15 to $7.25,  Pelosi had American Samoa exempted  from the increase so Del Monte  would not have to pay the higher wage. This would make Del Monte products less  expensive than that of its competitors.   When the huge bailout bill  was passed, Pelosi added an earmark to the final bill adding $33 million  dollars for an “economic development credit in American  Samoa”….  Pelosi has called the Bush Administration “CORRUPT” and  many other things!!!   How do you spell  ”HYPOCRISY”?  SHE’S SHAMELESS….

Best to research everything myself. My friend usually tells me to research when I send it to her, therefore I trusted her.

To the poster above - I WAS NOT PARROTING!!! - I trusted my friend and forgot to look at Snopes to check it. Haven't you ever made a mistake in your life? So sorry this distressed you so much you felt the need for a comment like that!

Yep. We all have. Refreshing to see someone - own up and unfortunately, all too rare. nm

that if you're wrong say so. I was wrong and I said so.

Don't see much of that here. Even from the posters who continued to bash after I said I was wrong.

Well, with all due respect, that IS the definition of parroting. - SM

Forwarding something on when one hears it from someone else without checking it out first. Chill.
You chill - I made a mistake. Yes I'm human, I make them - You chill

I'm sure if it was made on something about Palin you wouldn't have made a comment about that.

Parroting would be if I kept saying the same thing over and over and I didn't. I said I was wrong, and I didn't keep saying it over and over. I trusted my friend because she always tells me to always check things out. When she sent me this I thought she checked it out. I usually do check, but this one I didn't because I knew about the Starkist and Pelosi's husband, etc, etc.

You know what, I made a mistake. I am human and I do make them. Some times more often than I like to admit.

You chill.
Let it go - NM

Why? It's a justified response. - Pinko

Here you've got two friends. One who doesn't take good advice, and another who doesn't take her own advice and put it to good use.

Viral emails are done for one purpose and one purpose only; to do damage to a person or entity without liability. It's impossible to trace to origination. That's why people do it. Gossip and slander ruins careers. The internet is a perfect way to do it. Shame on those who participate in it.

So here you have two people who supposedly know better, but do it anyway. I suspect they did it anyway because they dislike Pelosi's politics so much, they didn't heed their own advice, in their eagerness to do damage to an individual. The kicker, not only does it do damage to the individual but what about the innocent bystanders? Those who work for Starkist. If it goes viral enough, people actually boycott Starkist to the point in impacts sales to a degree that it cannot sustain the current workforce, they lay off workers.

Who really gets hurt then?
No, I meant le the "I'm not a parrot" nonsense go. - sm

otherwise, yeah, I agree that people are, and should be held, responsible for what they put out there in the way of supposed "information." Just let go of the self-justifying whining after you've been caught being careless with the facts.
Oooooohhhh, gotcha - Pinko

One could also argue that in situations such as this, one really has no choice but to apologize to save a reputation, not so much actually feeling remorseful about bad behavior. Just saying. If one didn't, everything said after is tainted.

Beware of emails disguised as legitimate news. Promoting them - is like staking a claim to a pyrite motherload. n
