I find it disturbing, to say the least, that a British soldier is attacked by a Muslim Extremist on the street, as he yells, "Allahu Akbar" and in less than 24 hours, Cameron knows it's a terrorist attack and pronounces it as such. When a Muslim Extremist (terrorist) kills 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas, Obama pronounces it "workplace violence." What is wrong with this man? Why can't he say "Muslim Terrorists" - that's what Hasan is! Why must Obama protect Muslims at all costs? I'd like to know why.

[ In Reply To ..]the Department of Defense using prescribed defined criteria as opposed to the State Department, since this perp was a citizen and a member of the armed forces. Hasan has been charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted murder under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. There may be additional charges brought at court-martial. Once convicted he could be given the death penalty. In terms of consequences, dead is dead. A "terrorist act" designation cannot punish him beyond death, can it?
DOD and FBI investigations and Congressional hearings have been held. No evidence for key criteria can be proven regarding co-conspirators, direct help or orders from terrorist organizations, or relation of the crime to a larger terrorist plot, nor has PROOF of motive turned up. The DOD will make no further determinations other than workplace violence until the court martial has concluded.
Of note, John Carter R-Texas introduced legislation that would change the shooting designation from "workplace violence" to "combat related," so it would appear that "terrorist act" is not on his radar screen either. Like it or not, precise criteria in such declarations must be met in accordance to DUE PROCESS. If those standards need to be subjected to review, so be it, but for the time being the powers that be are confined to the parameters of existing procedures.
