Hello, trucks-as-weapons-of-mass-destruction.
Whether it's terrorism, racism or violent crime of any kind, we MUST NEVER elect officials who are so SUPERFICIAL as to think that "guns" are the problem, that we don't have enough gun laws, and that "more and more and more gun laws" are therefore the solution.
What you are looking at with such cretins is someone who wishes to create a subservient population that is at the mercy of the terrorist (reason for more government), the criminal (reason for more government) and even a corrupt government itself.
Get it straight, you liberals who continue to trod this pathway: The 2nd Amendment was, and is, about the right of citizens to defend themselves against ANY armed invasion of their LIBERTIES. It's passingly strange that ANYONE who professes to favor INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY would oppose the 2nd Amendment protections.
Not even "passingly strange" - it's as bizarre in the extreme as people who favor the right to die but oppose the right to life. I don't know how you sleep at night harboring such cognitive dissonance without your brains exploding into a million pieces.
OR...perhaps there was an explosion, but it wasn't noticeable because there wasn't enough exothermic energy to light a firecracker.
How would guns have stopped that truck - plowing into all those people?

In each of those situations, the shooter could have been taken out much sooner than the police could have arrived and breached the building.

Which armed citizens? In any case, the first proper response to - an active shooter is to take cover, so....

Of course, in some situations you might have no choice but to respond immediately, but in Dallas that was not even possible because no one even knew where the shooter was at first. Whether armed or not, whether police or civilian, anyone on that street SHOULD HAVE RUN FOR COVER JUST AS FAST AS THEIR FEET WOULD TAKE THEM!
You would have also received this basic training in the military. A good soldier engaged in combat always knows where he's going to take cover at any given moment, and if he's in an area with no cover, he gets out of that situation as quickly as he can (gee, I think he might even run).
I don't know why whenever I talk to anti-gun people I always find out they know nothing about guns or proper gun-related tactics. You don't just stand there with a target on your chest, whip out your gun and start blazing away.
