Lerner placed on administrative leave

Lois Lerner has been placed on administrative leave since she took the 5th yesterday....as if that's gonna stop the committee from subpoenaing her back to testify. Hope it's soon!

The bad news is she will still collect her salary from us, which should be suspended until further investigation either finds her at fault or innocent of the goings on at the IRS. That sucks!

What part of innocent until proven guilty are you not getting? It's not a crime to take the 5th under advisement of an attorney. We have yet to see what the lawyer's strategy is to know why he told her to do that. Perhaps it has something to do with the prejudicial "witch hunt" spectre that looms over the hearing room, ya think?

Lerner is still employed by the IRS. As far as I know, there has been NO (I repeat, NO) evidence of criminal activity revealed at this point. What we can see is an group of understaffed, overwhelmed IRS agents that had thousands of applications to process, tasked with triage who used questionable criteria to weed out potentially political groups from the rest. Evidently they had little to no direction and scant oversight.

Mismanagement is not a crime. Whether or not the IRS ultimately asks her for her resignation or fires her is YET TO BE DETERMINED, so I have to take this back to the same place we ended up in a previous exchange a few days back. Are you just as quick to condemn the congressional "aide" suspected of tampering with Benghazi emails for political gain? Where's HIS lynch mob? Should he be tossed out on his ear and take his place in the unemployment line before evidence against him or his defense has been presented, or are we going to follow the constitutionally sanctioned concept of due process?

Your post reminds me of how I feel when I hear about a cop who has been accused of brutality or abuse of power. I find it appalling that they are placed on administrative leave where they continue to draw their pay while the investigation commences. It is especially disturbing when considering how the odds are stacked in law enforcement's favor that those types of accusations SELDOM result in conviction, so those folks usually keep their jobs on taxpayers' dime, who are left to simply suck it up. The system is not perfect and never will be, but it is what it is. Deal.

Why should she be allowed to reitre? She should be FIRED. Because of the IRS scandal, she'll be walking away from this scandal and will probably be getting a nice pension since she worked for the government for what, 26 years?
