Jon Stewart rips Fox for extolling Reagan on nukes while attacking Obama (and nakedly lying about it)

If I were the DNC, I'd be running the Resgan anti-nuke speeches all over the country.

Jon Stewart clocked another four-bagger last night, ripping Fox for its nutso attacks on President Obama's newly announced nuclear-weapons reduction policy:

Stewart: So here's where we're at: We're at the point now that the by far No. 1-ranked news network in this country no longer feels the need to accurately report what a policy document says in black and white. And once you free yourself from the fetters of fact shackles -- or fackles -- in the present day, you'd be amazed at what you can do to the facts from the past.

He then goes on an extended riff pointing out that what Obama's trying to achieve is precisely in line with what Ronald Reagan said he hoped to achieve as well -- while the Foxheads trot out Reagan as proof of Obama's weakness.

No wonder everyone gets their news from The Daily Show. It's the only place you can find out what's really going on.

And you can laugh at it too!

What some people don't seem to understand or are just - Backwards Typist

blinded by these type of clips is that Jon Stewart used clips from Hannity, not Fox News, but from a commentator. After reading the comments, probably none of them have even seen Fox News.

The problem people have is not being able to differentiate between news programming and commentators. I would think it would be easy, but if you don't watch, you can't differentiate and just take any media's word for it.

Many people watch Maddow, Olbermann, Schultz, and others. They are not the news programs either, but those that don't know what real news programming is, think they are. In fact, GMA, The Today Show, and probably the CBS morning show only have 5-15 minutes of news on. The rest is all blabber and promotion of fashion, books, movies, etc.

I watch Shepard Smith and Bret Baier since that's the only news on when I get to watch TV. There's nothing wrong with them.

I agree...and although I have always loved Stewart, - he is not quite the know-it-all.

[ In Reply To ..]
The funny part of him is wearing thin. All this political bashing and comedy when we are in some serious trouble here. I am all for comedy, but he is not that humorous anymore. He will find or two commentators and harp constantly on them. ..and Shep Smith is a liberal. He shows it many times by giving his opinion. Baier is straight-laced and tries to get to the bottom of things. They really do give a balance to Fox, but the ones who bash Fox have probably NEVER watched them.

style is to poke fun at inconsistencies, political and nonpolitical, and weave it into something hilarious. Although I do admit he leans way to the left, dems suffer at his hands too, as well as Catholics, Jews, anyone of any description that will bring a laugh but also make people pay attention. I do give him credit for posting actual videos to support his story lines thus making the reality even funnier and creating a climate for discussion. Again, he is a comedian, albeit a very intelligent one, and that is how he makes his living, making people laugh.
Excuse me, but he is a comedian who constantly - talks POLITICS! Hello?! --and
[ In Reply To ..]
he uses the videos out of context all the time, so he deserves some criticism here. I used to be a fan, but tired of him at this point.

As far as the "out of contest" videos, can you give one example? I have usually found them to be spot on.
He takes a video, states the commentator on Fox - is talking about something current, when
[ In Reply To ..]
those same commentators have later shown these were taped sometimes YEARS ago, or about a totally different issue, yet Stewart shows it in a different light. I do not know off hand of an example, but have seen this multiple times in the past. ..and thats the thing, Stewart is NOT a political expert, but many ignorant people will believe his every word as if he IS an expert. I used to appreciate him too, but no more.
Well, Hannity and Beck are not political - experts, either, and SM

many ignorant people believe every word they say. Now THAT is sad.
Nor are Olbermann, Maddow, etc, but you believe - them? Stewart makes everything a joke,

and not ALL of it is funny at this point. Sometimes, he should just shut up and find other material than politics!
Totally disagree. For starters, Stewart has - always insisted that he

is a comedian and not a politician. Also, he makes it a point to NOT take things out of context. See video below where he addresses this in an interview on Fox with Bill O'Reilly.

If it hits too close to home, people get annoyed. Otherwise, he is just darn funny.

Maddow on the other hand, different story. Quite politically active, with couple degrees in it, one from Oxford I believe. She shouldn't be discounted or lumped in the class of recent commentators who only speak half truths, if truths at all.
But Maddow speaks half truths all the time, so who - cares WHAT her degree? She stinks.nm

A specific example would be in order. She is exceedingly - well informed...

fact and hard-data oriented, a tendency shared by folks with a couple of degrees, including those with PhDs, like Dr. Maddow. So how about that for instance?

Ronald Reagan asked Congress to raise the debt ceiling 18 times, and 18 times he got what he asked for.  In Sepember 1987, he made the following statement in a radio address regarding the consequences of default:  "Congress consistently brings the government to the edge of default before facing its responsibility, " Reagan says. were honorable men who put their country first in a time of crisis.   "Because Republicans have frequently likened President Obama to Jimmy Carter, we were curious to learn how candidate Ronald Reagan responded to the worst foreign policy disaster on Carter’s watch — the failed mission to rescue U.S. diplomats in Iran, resulting in the deaths of eight servicemen.  In April 1980, Reagan was still battling George H.W. Bush for the GOP nomination, while Sen. Edward M. Kenned ...

Happy 48th birthday to Medicare.  Ronald Reagan and the right wing tried to kill Medicare before it was signed, sealed, and delivered on July 30, 1965, by calling it socialized medicine and the end of America as we know it. For me that says it all.  Trump is a petty little man not worthy to be called a Republican. For people who say the Republican party ignored them or let them down, you let it happen.
