I called Rudy Giuliani an idiot the other day...sm

Posted: Feb 20, 2015

and his latest comment is just one more example reinforcing my opinion.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) defended his accusation that Obamadoesn't love America by arguing that Obama's upbringing by a white mother and attendance of a white school made his statement not racist.

"Some people thought it was racist -- I thought that was a joke, since he was brought up by a white mother, a white grandfather, went to white schools, and most of this he learned from white people," Giuliani said in an interview with The New York Times on Thursday.

During a fundraiser for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) in New York City on Wednesday, Giuliani said that he didn't think Obama loved the country because of the way he was raised.

Do you think he is running for president? - sm

So far what I can tell, the Republicans are just going to give 2016 to Hillary by default. Well, that is okay with me. Time for a moderate woman.

I do not think he is seriously running for - president-he did so poorly

[ In Reply To ..]
last time and EVERY time he opens his mouth he inserts his foot, I don't think he would do it again (i.e. I don't think anyone would fund or encourage him).

Interestingly Bobby Jindal has come out defending Giuliani's comments, and he may be running in 2016. Talk about the "stupid party," that would be really stupid for him. He can't win either.

I don't think either can even win the nomination.

He spoke truthfully about O not loving America. - Why else would someone

[ In Reply To ..]
want to "fundamentally change" something if they loved it? You wouldn't. Rudy G. spoke an opinion that many of us share. If it differs from yours, well that's fine. That's your opinion, to which you are entitled.

Bingo! - sm

People come to America because of the promise it offers. Some, once here, want to change it. To those I say "go back home" if you don't like America! (I am NOT talking about the president in that last sentence.)

IMO, there is always room for improvement and, if you. - sm

love something you are always looking for ways to make it better. Healthcare is a "fundamental change" and Obama will ultimately be appreciated for the PPACA being a success just like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid were successes.

Although ObamaScare is a disaster and will go down in history as being just a blip when compared to the entire EPIC fail of his entire presidency, it is not the fundamental transformation people are most worried about.

held accountable and being fined for fraud. I could go on but these changes are quite fundamental.

I think the Native Americans would agree with this statement. - sm

Our ancestors came to this land to escape religious persecution and build a better life for their families because of the promise it offered. I guess if they didn't like it the way it was, they should have gone back home.

The one thing that is constant in this world is change. There is not much in this world that ever really stays the same. It's called progress.

"Fundamentally change" speech in context. - sm

I guess the Republican party only cares about context when it's their candidates doing the talking. LOL. I think it's particularly fitting that this practice of quote mining and distorting the truth is referred to as "contextomy," since the Cons rely so heavily on it.

How sad that even after Obama has won two elections since these words have been used as fear and smear propaganda ad nauseam, the conservatives are still beating that false drum of contextomy and distorting these words out of context. How's that working for them? Two lost elections and still hammering away. LOL.

The words in context:

"Now, Mizzou, I just have two words for you tonight: five days. Five days. After decades of broken politics in Washington, and eight years of failed policies from George W. Bush, and 21 months of a campaign that's taken us from the rocky coast of Maine to the sunshine of California, we are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America. In five days, you can turn the page on policies that put greed and irresponsibility on Wall Street before the hard work and sacrifice of folks on Main Street. In five days, you can choose policies that invest in our middle class, and create new jobs, and grow this economy, so that everyone has a chance to succeed, not just the CEO, but the secretary and janitor, not just the factory owner, but the men and women on the factory floor."

You know that phrase, "It's the economy, stupid"? That's the phrase that immediately comes to my mind when I hear the right-wing whining about those words out of context. Obama was speaking about the economy.

If taking someone's words out of context is the crux of the conservative argument, then their argument is based on lies. For a party that claims to value "truth," this endless rhetoric and practice of contextomy is not exactly the way to go about proving it.

Barack Hussain Obama brought this on himself. He's attempting to carry out his father's dreams and make his papa proud by destroying capitalism and promoting socialism. Read below. It's all there.

Obama is really sucking at destroying capitalism. - sm

If a dead man could actually feel emotion, I think Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. would be pissed beyond measure at the abject failure of his son at destroying capitalism. I mean, the stock market has almost tripled during his administration, and the economy is better on the whole, especially for capitalists, even if not for everyone.

Speaking of socialism, I think it would be a nice step in the right direction if Social Security and Medicare were abolished in their totality. I feel certain that Obama wouldn't let that happen, and I'm equally certain that the Republican Congress would fight tooth and nail to keep those social programs in place. They're all just a bunch of socialists. I mean, I don't understand why providing healthcare for Americans is considered "socialism," but then turning 65 suddenly makes government healthcare socially acceptable.

Yes, there's sarcasm in there.

Great post! - brava

BTW, it's okay to accept Social Security and Medicare when you turn 65. It's only socialism when other people benefit from it (sarcasm alert).
