Only certifiable lunatics could believe that health insurance companies - are not greedy.
[ In Reply To ..]
Now if you have concrete proof to the contrary, please share your links to indisputable facts with the rest of us.
Of course they are greedy. You can say that about - almost ANY business. However, there are other
[ In Reply To ..]
businesses that make much higher percentage of profit, and you only hear people slamming insurance companies.
Insurance companies make their millions - off the health, life and death
[ In Reply To ..]
of others and that is the BIG difference. To me, profit just does not belong in health care. Your cars- fine. Your clothes-fine. But your health?? Nope, and therein, imo, lies the problem.
We keep forgetting that the problem is the insurance, not the healthcare itself. When profits are the only reason for the existence of these companies, and they make their profit entirely by taking in money to pay for it and finding ways of letting go of as little as possible, it is the people and the actual health CARE of the patient that is hurt, and too often, their eventual death can be determined by their desire to increase profits. To me, that is the bottom line problem. Profit simply does not belong in peoples health or their ability to protect or treat it.

It seems like you all have a problem with them showing a profit at all. No business stays in business if there is no profit. Which one of you is going to keep on working and working if you do not actually show a profit? I feel pretty confident in stating that if you went without a profit (i.e., your paycheck) for more than a couple of weeks you would no long continue working but would be looking for something else to do. Which ones of your want to work for free. I again feel pretty confident in saying that you do all you can to show as much profit as you can. We have MTs who cherry pick (which hurts the coworkers who get stuck with all the crappy work), MTs who do not proofread (which has resulted in many accts being lost and can has a negative impact on patient care), etc., etc., and you are all fine with those things in pursuit of your own profit. so it is okay for MTs to hurt their colleagues and to negatively affect patient care in search of more money. you're just not okay with anybody else working for as much profit as they can get. Jealous because someone else has more than you do so you would be happy to take away their profit too. Pretty darned ironic and hypocritical if you ask me. Yes, they are greedy. Yes, they could and should do things differently, and yes, there needs to be some change. but you folks here need to look for a more balanced approach than to just blithely say "screw the insurance companies. they are all no good." Many of you might try looking in the mirror before you condemn the guy showing a profit.
Coulda, shoulda, woulda? - Fact is
[ In Reply To ..]
no one said anything about "showing a profit." Yes they should do things differently? Fact is, they don't. What is said is based on how they operate and the obscene excesses enjoyed by "them" as a result. If they were not greedy, there wouldn't be a problem.
You will never see me working for an - insurance company.

People over Profits! Profits do not belong in health care.
Yeah, such greed....with an average profit margin of 3 to 5%! - Anon

Have you no idea how capitalism works?
Again with the sarcasm. Perhaps they should - consider looking into
[ In Reply To ..]
making their profit in another field that does not play Russian Roulette with peoples lives. Profit from doing something or producing something that does not bankrupt people or kill people. Profits do not belong in health care!

Waste and fraud cuts, no cuts in health care coverage. - Get it right. Speaking of hypocrites...

[ In Reply To ..]
Pubs can't take yes for an answer. This is what they have been harping on unnecessarily for months now, considering the explanation for reigning in Medicare spending has been clearly spelled out over and over again. Waste and fraud, as in spending cut. Improved prescription drug coverage. Same unchanged health care delivery for Medicare recipients. Got it?

Baloney! This bill is full of tons of details no one has even - gone through. Talk about waste and fraud,

[ In Reply To ..]
admit it, you dont have a clue yet just how much waste is in this bill, yet ready to support it? You will do that even though it could dramatically affect what healthcare you or your family member is "worthy" of? I am FOR reform. Start with tort reform and looking into Medicare/Medicaid abuse. This bill is WAY overboard, way too expensive, and way too confusing!!!
Wrong. Its there for the taking. Try reading the summary - and then
[ In Reply To ..]
once you have a grasp of the way the bill is set up, go to the text and get all the details you could possibly need. I assure you, it won't bite. If you can understand medical terminology, you can understand the content of this bill.

On the other hand, if you are too lazy to even try to read it, then please refrain from making comments that imply you know what you are talking about.
