We are supposed to be a republic with checks and balances. Allowing executive orders, places the president in a position of a dictator. Is that what we really want for our country? Presidents of both parties have had their puppet strings pulled by the powers that be and they have issued executive orders that trample the rights of the individual. If I hear somebody call us a democracy again, I will scream. Democracy is mob rule. A republic is supposed to respect the rights of the individual. In short, in a democracy (mob rule), if the mob wants your private property for a park or whatever, they win. Something to think about. If we elect a president expecting him or her to do something that bypasses the checks and balances, we are electing a dictator. Candidates promise what they are going to do as president. So, they are thinking of themselves in the context of a dictator! Presidents are supposed to make recommendations to Congress who then takes action. So, if the president does not like what Congress has done, he or she vetoes. Hmmm Dictator again.
