My PCP put me on dexamethason @ 12 mg a day to reduce the swelling around my parotid gland tumor 2 weeks ago.
I've suffered from blurry vision and the inability to read anything small print without heavy magnifiying glasses for 8 years.
My vision went terribly blurry last night so I took my glasses off to clean them. When I put them back on, it was worse.
I removed the glasses, looked at the computer, and I have had inexplicable return of 20/20 vision. I have not needed glasses in 4 days.
I know this is somehow related to the dexamethasone, in that it's the only logical explanation, but after 8 years of "blindness" when it comes to reading, I'm in shock and awe.
Ladies, do you think perhaps the tumor extended back much further than the radiologists are able to see and has spent 8 years growing and compressing an optic nerve, and now the dexamethasone has relieved sufficient swelling that my vision would "pop" into place?
I'm really curious to see if any of you have ever experienced this or transcribed something about it. A google regarding dexamethasone and eye sight pretty much turned up nothing.
TIA!
