Love swimming and BBQ'ing....just makes the world a better place is why!;

Just about the only thing I enjoy in the - summer

[ In Reply To ..]
is swimming, and even that I do early in the morning. I live in the south, and can hardly stand the heat, intense sun and bugs anymore. On my days off after about 10 a.m. if I don't have any errands to do, I am in my nice cool house, surfin the web, watching Netflix and waiting for autumn!

Wow - I can't pick just one, so here's my top 5:
1. Shopping - all seasons - because it just feels good!
2. Boating/tubing on the lake - all summer. Why? Because when I'm on the lake, I'm unable to get too busy working to enjoy life.
3. Walking - as long as it's not 90+ degrees outside. I wanna live as long as I can.
4. Skinny-dipping - it's so liberating.
5. 4-wheeling - all seasons - I love getting close to nature without actually getting too close.

Another skinny-dipper here too! I love it! - :o) - nm

It keeps you attached to what's going on outdoors. Once you're hooked, you can do it anywhere (dangerous while driving). It's a great reason to hang out in a nature area, and it's a good excuse to throw a six-pack in the cooler.

Activity, sport, hobbies - Quilter here

I love ice skating and then afterwards having a big fire with a cup of hot cocoa (at least that was a sport I loved in scouting). I love watching ice skating on TV because they are so good and it's what I grew up doing. As an adult I'm neither athletic or active. I love watching baseball, because, well what is better than the all American past time of baseball. It's just fun.

My favorite activity would have to be quilting. My dear mom, when she was alive, was into quilting (she lived across the country from me). She was the president of a quilt guild, made quilts for cancer patients and other needy groups, and very active in quilting throughout her community. I treasure all the quilts and other items she made for me. Before she died I signed up at our local quilt shop to take some quilting lessons. I wanted to know why she loved it so much. My first lesson and I was hooked. Now I know why she loved it. To be able to take a piece of material, cut it up into strips, squares or whatever, sew it with other like colors and turn it into a quilt, table runner or whatever is very relaxing to me. Makes me feel like my mom is sitting right there along side me watching what I'm making. Truthfully though it has been years since I got out her old sewing machine (she gave me her sewing machines and all her material and quilt books), but just have been busy with other things. Now that we have moved and getting settled i can't wait to start in again.

My next big project is trying to figure out what kind of quilt she was going to make with a bag of material that is already pre-cut.

Quilting just makes me feel closer to my mom now that she is gone.

which is great. I also love baseball but don't get to many games. Summer is my favorite season for activities and Fall is my favorite season for color and weather.

I love playing Croquet too.

I'm so fortunate to live 5 minutes from a beautiful state park. I love it because it's just me, the dog, nature, and God. Once in a while, we run into other people and dogs on the trail, but it's usually just us. Being surrounded by all that nature is very relaxing, plus trucking up and down those hills and rocks is great exercise and really helps diminish hot flashes and symptoms of depression. If we go right before dawn or around dusk, we get to see lots of deer, and they also always have a peaceful effect on me.

I like it because it's fun, it's great exercise, especially legs & core. I'm in my 60s, and it keeps me young & fit. I like the speed and the freedom. Best of all, it's FREE.

Nursing Home ActivityJun 05, 2012
Going to work at the local nursing home (50 residents) in the evening to help with activities and keep them interested in things.  They have not had activity in a couple months as there was no one to do it, and they have made a new position, and I am it.  I need some suggestions as to what we can do for about 20 minutes of activity for them.  Most of them are in wheelchairs or not very ambulatory but are mentally pretty good, although in their 90s.  We do the usual of being ...

Activity Ideas For Person With Hemiparesis? Dec 17, 2016
An elderly family member recently developed dominant-side paresis due to an inoperable brain mass. She was always healthy and active until this. She now has limited, assisted-only mobility, and arm neglect which hinders use of a walker or wheelchair. Does anyone know of one-handed household/functional activities we can have her do? She hates sitting around and doing nothing. It is heartbreaking to see her so frustrated. Tried having her fold laundry, but it did not go well; we will try again lat ...

Add Another Questionable Sebilius Unethical Or Illegal Activity To My ListMay 14, 2013
I guess only time will tell on this one. Or will this be another investigation? I think if this administration wants to govern, they should learn the law first and then implement their plans and ideas. It seems like they're doing everything backwards.   NASHVILLE — Tennessee Republican U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander said today that Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius may be breaking federal law by raising private to help implement the federal health care law a ...

Delta Force Finds And Topples ISIS Hub Of ActivityMay 16, 2015
Not celebrating loss of human life, here, I'm celebrating the thousands of other lives that will be saved as a result, from all nations: Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, Hindu and MOST Muslims (who were also terrorized for disagreeing with them). Set a female hostage slave free in the process. This week I made a few new discoveries, and I'm so excited about them I just have to share with you! *  Ciao Bella Raspberry Sorbet, $3+ at Wal-Mart.  This is a sinfully delicious palate cleanser.  Bursting with raspberry flavor, it's not too syrupy or sweet.  It's even better paired with... * European Cookies, Lemon-Flavored Shortbread.  $1 at Dollar Tree.  These are buttery little bites infused with lemon flavor... New Favorite CoffeemakerJan 06, 2013
I've discovered the very best coffeemaker I've ever had - and I have a few. It's dirt cheap (around $20), and has fantastic reviews all over the internet. It's plastic and similar to a French press, but the coffee's better - very smooth, not at all bitter. It's the Aeropress! ...

What Is Your Favorite Theme SongJan 01, 2012
I saw a poll somewhere and it had the 7 best theme songs.  Most of them I wondered how they decided on it.  I'm glad my favorite was on the list.  Sometimes there is a TV show that just has a catchy theme song to it.  Mine has to be "Bad Things" - The song for True Blood.  Catchy tune I could listen to over and over.  What is your favorite?   ...

Least Favorite Christmas Music?Dec 02, 2011
I have to admit I can't stand the "Christmas Shoes" song.  I have a high tolerance for schmalz, but that's over the top for me.  I change the radio station when that comes on.    I'm sorta on the fence about "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas".  It's kind of cute, but it has the disadvantage of sticking in my head and I end up singing it the rest of the day! Anyone else? ...
