Man going to jail for reading wife's emails

Did you hear about this story? The wife left the password near the computer. It was a shared computer. I am sure he was not the first person to read his wife/husbands email. That is how most people find out about affairs. I hear people on Dr. Phil talking about what they found out through emails. I wonder if he found out his wife committed a crime and reported it if he would still be charged with a felony. I hope this case gets thrown out of court.

I think that he was actually doing a good thing, reporting that his wife was having an affair with her 2nd husband who apparently has a domestic violence record. He shared the information with the 1st husband, who in turn filed for custody of his daughter to protect her from this man.

Something tells me she wanted him to look. Also, nothing will come of it because its a shared computer and she left her password. If she didn't want him to know she should have changed her password. I'll bet this case will be thrown out.

This is a shared computer. That means they both have access. She can read his email and he can read hers. If she was having an affair and didn\'t want him to read about it she should have changed her password and not leave it out for him. She deserved what she got just for her plain stupidity.

It\'s just common sense. If there is something I don\'t want someone else to read about I\'m certainly not going to leave my password out which means she has just granted him access to her email.

I think the courts will be on his side. It was a shared computer and she left her password out for him. Kind of looks like entrapment. He certainly does not deserve jail time. She on the other hand does.

your spouse taking money out of it without asking. Then, of course, after the madness settles that your spouse has been in your purse you realize that since he is the one making most of the money it is just as much his as yours as is everything else in the home.

I gave up personal privacy when I got married 13 years ago. I did it willingly. If someone feels they need personal privacy from a spouse, they probably shouldn't be married. My husband knows my passwords, and I do not mind if he gets into my emai. There are times that he actually needs to. Of course, I am not having an affair either.

I think it will go his way. A court would be opening doors it does not want to open. How many times have I opened bills or even junk mail with my husband's name on them? LOTS and so have many others. I do the bills, so I open them. I hope she has to pay all of his fees incurred.

Not trying to make a sweeping generalization. Sorry, even though I do make good money, my husband makes more. I know this is not always the case, but for me, I personally know very few women that make more than their spouse. I am sure they are out there, I just don't know them.

No matter how morally wrong people think it is, it is not illegal to read someone's email on a shared computer with the password left in plain site for anyone.

Shoplifting is illegal. Stealing money from someone's purse is illegal. Reading someone's email on your own computer is not illegal, especially when the password is given to them.

was discussed on a local talk show today. Like the host said, who has not snooped on their spouse/partner at some time or another.

The people in question are getting a divorce, he thought she was having an affair with her 2nd ex-husband who she had said was abusive and he was concerned for his child's safety. At least, that is what he is saying.

To poster above, why do you care if your spouse opens mail--email or otherwise. If you have nothing to hide, it is no big deal.

Some of them I have seen before on right wing websites.
