Hi all- I'm not wanting to start a big fight here, so that's not my purpose. I just want to address an issue that many people share. And would like thoughts on both sides.
It's perfume (not including scented body sprays) users who use too much. This can easily happen to the wearer, particularly if you wear the same perfume every day. Your nose gets used to it, so you might be using more than you initially did and not even realize it. (Kind of like someone who smokes doesn't smell the smoke anymore.)
I love a nice perfume as much as anybody, but try to remember that if you are putting on more than just a small spritz or dab on a couple of pulse points (such as wrists and/or behind the ears), you're using too much. I actually prefer the dab type, because it's way too easy for a spritz to be too much. If I do use a spray, I just do a quick spritz on one wrist, then sort of dab/rub the other wrist on that spot.
Sorry, but nothing more unappetizing than going to a restaurant, wanting to eat a nice meal for what it is, but the person has dulled my senses with heavy perfume. Or standing in line somewhere and bombarded for the time I'm in line.
Keep in mind that MANY people are allergic to perfumes, too.
If ANYONE is saying to you that you are wearing too much perfume, you probably are. Don't be offended! It's easy to use too much without realizing it. And a fine perfume will last you the day. Your nose will get used to it as the day goes on, but there's no reason to put more on that day.
Cologne has a little more leeway because it's not as concentrated. Body sprays are designed to be sprayed on more than just the pulse points.
This goes for the men, too! If you think your man is using too much, let him know. He may have the same problem we do if we're used to the scent.
