Happy Tuesday

Posted: Jul 27, 2010

I drug myself out of bed this morning feeling tired and mad at the world.  Nothing new!  I'm not really a morning person.  I took a shower, felt better.  I opened up the sliding glass door in my bed room and WHOOSH!  A gust of fresh air blew in!  It was cool and smelled green and fresh from the rain last night.  I opened up the other windows and doors throughout the house and the breeze and scent swirling around my house lifted my spirits.  I had a feeling it was going to be a productive day.  I got my coffee and cinammon pop tart (morning ritual) and got myself to work.

Phone rings.  It was my son (he's been overseas for months and months, away from his wife and little boy) and he's gotten word that his unit is headed back home!  He'll be home in about 7 to 10 days.  Lord thank you!  Their base was attacked several times and he's safe and now coming home!

Then a little bit later the phone rings again!  It's my daughter this time and she's got news as well!  She's been named employee of the year AND has finally decided to start working on her masters degree AND her work is going to pay for it!  (she is a probation officer/counselor for juvenile sex offenders).

I am on top of the world today!  It's almost as if the gust of fresh air that came in this morning was the good Lord himself, blowing the cobwebs out of my brain and reminding me of how fortunate I really am.  Just wanted to share.

I'm so very and truly happy for you! Your post made me smile and gave me hope that one day soon I'll feel the same as you do, but for now, I'll just live vicariously through your good news.

What demanding careers your children have; you should be extremely proud of them.

Please thank your son for all he has done for us.

I hope your good mood/good feelings continue for many, many days to come. =)

LOVE IT! - Jewel

By far one of the best things I have read in awhile! Congrats to you and your family. How wonderful that your son gets to come home safe and so soon! I wish everyone was that lucky. So happy for you. I hope your life continues to be blessed in wonderful ways and maybe when I drag myself out of bed tomorrow I will think about starting my day with some open windows!

Happy Tuesday Everyone!May 14, 2013
Nothing special.  It's just a pretty morning outside and I'm getting ready to go to bed (!) and usually there's nothing special about Tuesday.   So, happy Tuesday.  May everyone's day be ridiculously productive and profitable. ...

Why Do We Vote On Tuesday? Well,Nov 05, 2012
From Smithsonian.com: "The answer, it turns out, has a lot to do with buggies and farmers markets. The Founding Fathers met at the Constitutional Convention in 1787, NPR explains, but at the end of the meeting they still had not resolved a number of questions about how to run an entire nation. One of those issues involved the timing of federal elections. As a quick fix, they decided to leave it to individual states to set their own voting days, which led to several decades of &ldqu ...

Tuesday Night At The FightsOct 17, 2012
I have to say I do not like debates.  It seems to me that the broad audience of the American public has developed this "blood lust" akin to a boxing or wresting match or some Superbowl event.  How can someone say that this person won on style, and this one on memorization of facts and figures and then vote for them? How does that relate to them being president, or one heart beat away? The only real message I can take away from these debates is how does my picture of this candidat ...

Bah Humbug, Super Tuesday. Why Is This Permitted At All.Mar 01, 2016
Seems to me each party changes the voting laws to the point where we the people never get the government wants. All of it rigged. I see it more this year. If Trump or Clinton walk away with this, then I say we need to challenge voting systems, especially for president. This explains Super Tuesday by a historian: http://video.foxnews.com/v/4781402415001/election-history-101-how-super-tuesday-was-born/?intcmp=hpvid1#sp=show-clips ...

Ohio May Try Out A New Lethal Injection Concoction TuesdayDec 08, 2009
Instead of the traditional 3-shot method they're going to try a 1-shot deal. Inmates taking the 3-shot method take about 7 minutes to die. With the new method, they aren't sure how long inmates will take to die, but they're guessing "under" 15 minutes.http://www.wdtn.com/dpp/news/local/o...drug-execution   ...

Oil Spill In Canada On Tuesday Spills 200,000 GallonsJan 25, 2017
This is one thing we have to look forward to.  After it is all said and done, there will be 50 jobs out of the pipeline Trump wants to go forward with.  The taxpayers who live where the oil spills happen will pay to have it cleaned up, not to mention how harmful it is to the animals and environment.  Why would we want to go back to making fossil fuels are prime source of energy anyway?  So we can make money!  Lots of money! ...

Fantastic Meteor Shower Early Tuesday MorningNov 16, 2009
For those interested, there is supposed to be a fantastic meteor shower display peaking from 1 am to daylight on early Tuesday morning.  This is the Leonid shower which occurs about every 33 years.  My sons and I have stayed up and watched them before, and we were not disappointed in the past.  I just hope the weather is right.  We live in the country and this affords a wonderful view.   ...

HAPPY DAY!Mar 27, 2011
I love to cook!  Always have.  Since I was young I have collected family recipes, changed them around (or not) and have honed my skills to the point where I have earned the title of "family cook".  I can do it all!  I even make homemade cakes and decorate them for family gatherings.  I have index cards, ringed binders and tons and tons of recipes on random pieces of paper put away in boxes. A couple of Christmases ago I decided that since times are tough and gifts for o ...

Happy St. Pat's Day!!Mar 17, 2012
Going to be 80 degrees today - our average on St Pats is 49 and record high from 1966 is 72 degrees - love it when we beat the record highs but kind of wishing I had bought burgers and hot dogs for dinner instead of corned beef and cabbage - maybe we will eat it outside can't say I have ever had corned beef and cabbage outside. ...

I Was So Happy To See This!Apr 21, 2011
This story is one illustrates why government-controlled health care can be a dangerous thing.  The doctors and the government took choice away from these parents and basically said "sorry, your child is just going to die, no tracheotomy for him."  Religious organization from the US stepped in, brought him down here, US docs did the trach, and now he can spent his last days comfortably at home with his parents. One can only hope that never happens here. ...

Anyone Happy?Aug 03, 2010
I am still in school, and it seems like everyone on the boards is miserable and there's no future for MT.  Not very much to keep anyone motivated in school.  I still have about 6-9 months left.  Is anyone happy, or at least content in their job?  I am a future WAHM, mother of two sons, ages 7 and 2.  I used to work in social services, and thought I'd do this for a while.  Please give me some hope! ...

Really HappyJul 21, 2010
I am really happy right now and I just wanted to talk about it.  I am really grateful to be working for a good company, making a decent salary.  I wish all of us were.  And I just feel like I need to thank God "officially".  Because it can always be worse.  I thank him for this opportunity, and I pray it continues.  When good things happen for you, you have to thank him.  Thank you God.  ...

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone. (sm)Nov 26, 2009
I know we often disagree on this board, but I hope that everyone -- liberal, conservative or in between -- has a wonderful, safe and happy Thanksgiving. If you're spending it with your relatives (as you might do every year and sometimes dread doing so), try to look at them in a new light and be grateful you still have your family. If you have no family, cook a meal and invite a neighbor or someone who also has no family to share your meal with you. It might wind up being your best Tha ...

Nebraskans Are Not HappyDec 31, 2009
From Rasmussen... In Nebraska, just 17% approve of the Medicaid deal cut by Senator Ben Nelson to secure his vote on health care reform. Nelson is now down by 30 points in an early look at his 2012 Reelection Bid. Republicans now lead by five points on the Generic Congressional Ballot. That’s a big change from the seven-point lead enjoyed by Democrats when President Obama was inaugurated. Coincidentally, Obama's approval rating has sunk to -16.   One can only hope th ...

Are You Happy With Your Weight?Apr 18, 2013
Just wondering if any woman is ever truly "happy" with her body?  I have always had weight struggles and had gotten very heavy and I lost it all about five years ago.  I was happy, at first, but then it went away.  I am not underweight and am actually at the high end of "normal" weight, but I just cannot be happy about how I look.  I decided I needed to lose 10 more pounds for this summer and worked hard and lost it, but I still look in the mirror and I think I see myself a l ...

Happy Independence DayJul 04, 2013
July 4 is the birthday of our nation. It is the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the document by which the American colonies declared their independence from British rule, which had become burdensome if not tyrannical. This was, however, not an end but the beginning of a struggle for freedom that would last for more than seven years and cost many of the brave men who signed that document their comfortable homes, their land, their fortune, their children and &ndas ...
