Nebraskans are not happy

In Nebraska, just 17% approve of the Medicaid deal cut by Senator Ben Nelson to secure his vote on health care reform. Nelson is now down by 30 points in an early look at his 2012 Reelection Bid. Republicans now lead by five points on the Generic Congressional Ballot. That’s a big change from the seven-point lead enjoyed by Democrats when President Obama was inaugurated.

Coincidentally, Obama's approval rating has sunk to -16.

One can only hope that this disgusting vote buying business comes back to bite these jerks in the rear. This disregard for and lack of respect for the people needs to stop. Obviously if the only way they can achieve the minimum number of 60 votes needed to pass legislation is by buying votes, then it isn't legislation that is wanted. I hope the public sends that message loudly and clearly come next election. I urge you all to continue to contact your representatives and remind them who they work for and who has the power to either keep them in or remove them from office.

The added costs don't kick in for several years, but they start raising taxes and cutting Medicare benefits right away. That way, in 2012 they can say, "See? We're reducing the deficit" while conveniently forgetting to mention that the increased payouts for benefits to the "uninsured" have yet to kick in.

I've watched our government in action for many years, and I've never been as ashamed of it - nor as frightened of it - as I am now. The future of the Republic absolutely depends on turning these people out of office in 2010 and 2012...from the President right on down through his disgusting administration and his Congressional cronies, sidekicks and stooges.

Nelson's so frightened that he's airing ads patting himself on the back - during the Holiday Bowl game.

the healthcare bill. Wheeling and dealing has always been a part of business as usual in Washington politics on both sides and is nothing new. You can be sure that there was a lot of the same sort of goings on on the republicans side as well, just hasn't been made public. To me this is obvious when not one single republican voted in favor. That being said, I don't think it should be allowed. I would also like to see the president get a line item veto power. That is when we would see what our president is really made of.

One can imagine two Chicago political bosses saying to those who object to their corruption:

"Yeah, but I do it because he does it..."
"I only do it because he does it..."

It's like two kids in the back of the car.

with the practice, but it has been the reality of the situation over the past 200 years, rules made by old white men. No wonder there is so much corruption. I think adding all kinds of addendums that have nothing to do with the bill should be disallowed. I also believe the president should have the power of a line item veto. The reason you feel this incident was so blatant is that it was made public, most deals are not.

This story is one illustrates why government-controlled health care can be a dangerous thing. The doctors and the government took choice away from these parents and basically said "sorry, your child is just going to die, no tracheotomy for him." Religious organization from the US stepped in, brought him down here, US docs did the trach, and now he can spent his last days comfortably at home with his parents.
