Did anyone see Jaycee Dugard's interview last

I am just SO impressed with that young woman.   Would've loved to see her daughters, too, but I understand her desire to protect their privacy.  I hope to read her book soon!

Jaycee Dugard - Happy MT

Yes I saw it. She is such an inspiration, but shame, shame, shame on government officials, state and Federal. Did you see that State Parole man stand up and take credit for "breaking the case" which was soooo untrue. She deserved every penny of the 20 million she got for such incompetence checking that home 60 times and never looking in the backyard, not even when neighbors told them children were living in the backyard. The policeman never even left the front porch, disgusting. Now tax dollars have to pay for these two devils in prison for life. This is when I am in FULL favor of the death penalty.

I think she should get 60 million - 1 million for - each of the 60 times those lazy parole - sm

officers gave the house a cursory once-over, without ever looking in the back yard.

And ANOTHER 20 million for the time a neighbor actually called and said there were kids living in his backyard.

This man and his wife are prime examples that sexual criminals can NOT be rehabilitated. Period.

And whatever lame-brained official let that monster out of jail again, after assaulting that 25-year-old girl in Nevada, should get put away for a long, long time. At LEAST 18 years.

I am amazed by her happiness. - sweetgirlsmom

She is truly remarkable to come through an experience like that with such poise and confidence.

I think everyone who commits a violent crime should spend their life in prison. Once they demonstrate their willingness or weakness, desire or disease, whatever it is that makes them kill and maim, we should demonstrate our right to protect our citizens. We cannot prevent the first crime because we don't know in advance who will hurt others, but we can prevent the same person from doing it again and again.

That would easily cut our crime rate in half. There would be tremendous savings in police work, court trials, and court appeals. That would pay for the cost of operating prisons. And operating prisons creates jobs which our country needs desperately. My sister works in a county jail and pays taxes. She also buys goods and services produced by others, and that creates jobs for them. (I'm not saying we should ask people to become criminals in order to create jobs. But since the criminals are there anyway, we might as well benefit, instead of making it easy for them to hurt us again).

I would rather pay more taxes for prisons knowing that citizens are safe, rather than paying for repeated trials after more people are hurt. Think of how many people would be spared the trauma of assault, rape, kidnapping, and murder, and would be able to enjoy their rightful lives with their loved ones.

I served on a jury with charges of kidnapping and bodily harm. The verdict was guilty. The sentence was life in prison, no appeal, no parole. The sentence was automatic because the force necessary to hold someone against their will usually results in bodily harm, and most kidnap victims are murdered. (This is what the prosecutor told the jurors who spoke with him after the trial. He also said the trial cost $250.000). But murderers are released after 7 years. I know of a teenage girl who was killed two weeks after a murderer was released from prison. He had only served 7 years of a life sentence.

50 different states with 50 different laws and many interpretations of the same laws is ridiculous. Many towns are on state borders and the sentence depends on which side of the street the crime was commmitted. And people drive easily through other states to commit crimes. Judges should have no discretion in sentencing for violent crimes. If punishment was absolutely certain and lifelong, some people would decide the crime wasn't worth the time. That would save lives.

And I disagree with the death penalty. It is rarely used because it is so final, and that makes it ineffective as a deterrent to crime. There have been cases of a victim recanting, mistaken identity, DNA clearing people on death row, and new evidence or witnesses brought forward. Fighting over the death penalty divides us and can never be settled. Most of us can agree on life in prison to protect our society from people who harm others. A united response with absolutely certain punishment would be a more effective deterrent to crime. That protects us all.

Jaycee has a natural strength and poise about her. - sm - Meerkat

Something about her very being draws you in to listen to her. I think in her future life she will become a very inspiring speaker, and a teacher of young people everywhere, especially young women. She has a lot to teach us all about hope, and the strength of the human spirit.

I hope she and her mother can somehow get a few things changed in our criminal justice system. Such as thoroughness & effectiveness of parole officer inspections. I also think the system needs to keep sex offenders such as the Garridos locked up for life. (And, in the case of the men, CASTRATED).

Interview Pointers Anyone? Nov 30, 2011
I'm so nervous.  I have an initial phone interview tomorrow for a job that I did over 10 years ago, which is not MT.  When I had this position previously, I worked my way up through the company; now they would prefer a Bachelor's degree which I don't have.  I don't want to make a fool of myself answering their interview questions and I don't want to sound like a robot giving the typical answers that you know they are looking for.  I've been out o ...

Up For A Job Interview In A Few Days - Sm Nov 13, 2012
Anyone have any suggestions how to interview well.  I just suck at interviews.  I look great on paper but I think I either tend to be too jokey or too serious/scared/timid.  Any ideas how to get a happy balance and not come off a total idiot?  I have not had an in-person interview in about 3 years.  Need to get out of MT, job is being outsourced soon and need to get out.  Any suggestions/advice is appreciated.  TIA. ...

Interview This Morning On NPRMar 21, 2017
confirms that Trump supporters don't care about the Russian connections, the conflicts of interest, the money the Trumps cost the taxpayer, the abuse of women, the crude and vulgar language, etc.  Apparently the only thing that will turn Trump supporters against him is if, in a few years, he has not brought back jobs and fulfilled a few of his other promises.  I hope we don't have to wait 2 or 3 years and that our country survives if we do. ...

OBAMA-O'REILLY INTERVIEWFeb 02, 2014
After watching that interview, I can only say Bill O'Reilly and FOX must be feeling pretty darn good right about now. To think that they hold such sway over America and her people. That's quite the accomplishment! At the same time, it's an elitist insult to Americans. To think that we can't make up our own minds and need FOX news to do it for us. That disgusts me. Also, after everything that has been presented to him for many, many months, the president still cannot admit w ...

Light comes in the morning, only to wane in the night, fading into pale starlight. The Earth spins on its axis in the darkness of space, making its way around the sun in a solar system that sits on a safe and quiet arm of the Milky Way galaxy. We know how all these things work. We do not fret, because we can comfortably explain, quantify, and catalog every phenomenon to ourselves, and those natural systems we have yet to understand will no doubt soon submit to the searching power of the mind of ...
