Number one, the lyric is "The sharif don't like it". It is not sharia.

The song is about a country where the king bans rock music and orders his jet pilots to bomb the people disobeying his orders. The jet pilots instead turn their cockpit radios to rock music. It was inspired by Ayatollah Khomeini banning Western music in the late 70s.

Today "the king" could refer to ISIS. Back then, someone told me the song was about "war in the Middle East." That's what it meant to them. A song is like a prism - it refracts multiple meanings, throws different colors.
