with only about 1 in 10 of the U.S. adult population overall.
I've noticed that a lot of people here are interested in the influence of small groups on our society, and sometimes worry about their influence on our political systems and law making, so I thought I'd throw this in for discussion.
Percent of US adult population
Buddhists 0.06%
Hindus 0.04%
Jews 1.7 %
(Muslims are similar to the general population in educational attainment.)
The extremely high level of education cf adults in these named groups compared to the rest of the population would help explain why so many of the physicians we dictate for seem to be from these groups, when counted all together they're only about 1.8% of our population. Does this lead some of us to think they account for a lot more of our population than they do? What do we think of the educational standard they set?
Statistics are taken from the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life U.S. Religious Landscape Survey.
