The Rapture and our pets

As the world keeps changing and things revealed throughout the Bible pointing to the the second coming of Christ seem to be happening more and more, the subject of the Rapture for all believers is mentioned now more than ever. While I know this is something for all of us to look forward to, the description of being "snatched up" in a micro second and reunited with our loved ones in the sky with Jesus has always made me ask what about our pets? They will suddenly be left alone with no one to care for them, confused, afraid, hungry, thirsty, and suffering until they die? I cannot believe the God I know and love would do this. I have researced it and found one very disturbing article back in 2005 that says that unfortunately they will die like this. Then, I found another one from 2015 that says they will be raptured right along with us. There were dozens of posts on that site from people with the same huge concern and fear about their pets being left behind. I have prayed about this and given it a lot of thought and this is what I have come up with, which I feel is God's voice to me as he often communicates with us with giving us thoughts or words or ideas that come to mind. If God did not love aniimals then instead of commanding Noah to put them on his Ark, he could have just saved Noah and his family and created new animals, but he did not do that. When the Rapture occurs we are told that the non-believers will be left behind to suffer the tribulation. Their pets would still be with them and they could care for them until the end of time occurs and everyone would perish, but at least they would have been able to care for them until that happens. God would certainly not take the faithful, cause us to suffer such anguish and allow the unbelievers and their pets to remain together until they all meet their demise or judgement. So, through prayer and reading the most recent 2015 article about this, I have come to believe that our pets will be included in the Rapture and will come right along with us. I know there are a lot of people on this board who love their pets with all their hearts and I have read the sadness that occurs and the comfort that we give when one of us loses a beloved pet. So I posted this to see how many of us have actually thought about this and been so sad and afraid at the thought of our pets being left behind. The God and Jesus that I know and love only wants the best for us and happiness for us, and if that includes our beloved pets, then he will see to it. I hope we can share this here, as I have a feeling I am not alone with how I feel about this.

For those of you who are still worried, there is a plan B. Don't worry, there are plenty of us nonbelievers who will still be here to take care of all the abandoned pets. I'm for sure not going to make it up there!

anything about our pets being raptured with us, so we really don't know. Not all things are revealed to us. But one thing the Bible does teach repeatedly is that the only way to Heaven is by accepting the Lord Jesus Christ into your heart and having a personal relationship with Him, and pets do not have a soul to be able to do this. I guess none of us will really know until we get there!

Through the mystery of faith, we acknowledge God has no limits in what he can do or how other creation besides humans are under his influence for knowing him in a special and unique way. Animals have served us in ways that humans would not even attempt to. In this, God's love for us is also revealed. As well, the book of Revelations 5:13 presents to us a heavenly vision in which all creatures are standing before the throne of God. "Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, everything in the universe, cry out: To the one who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing, honor, glory, and might, forever and ever." Those with a close relationship with Jesus already know his love for all creation and whether or not animals have souls, we really do not know the answer for sure. They may instinctively already know God in a very special way. Our heavenly father loves us beyond human comprehension. If we truly believe this, which I do, then I know my pets will be coming with me.

Nothing is impossible with God. What makes it seems so at times is how we pray. You have to consider these things: What did you pray for, how did you ask, and did you pray for his will to be done for you and not your own. When I was younger, I was afraid to pray for God's will to be done for me because as a child who attended funerals of my grandparents, etc. all I heard from the older folks around me was "it was God's will." That terrified me! I thought if I asked for God's will to be done, he might kill one of my parents! Even when we prayed the Lord's prayer in school, when we got to the part of "thy will be done" I refused to say it. Then as I got older and heard priests teach us about God's will being the best for us in all situations, I decided to trust God and pray for that during one very difficult time in my life, when my father was dying and he and I as father and daughter had fallen apart for a very long time. God's will was done and it worked out in such a way that I could have never imagined or verbally prayed. So, please do not be discouraged and do not think that God has things which for him are impossible, because that it not true. Pray for his will for whatever needs you have, and watch the miracles begin to happen. God bless you! You are in my prayers.

Okay dear, we all have a right to what we believe but the Bible states only God knows the day and time the world will end and over the past several hundred years, numerous self-righteous preachers have predicted the world's end (all to no avail). I do not believe in the "rapture" per se. Please read what I wrote up about my dear cat who passed from cancer and diabetes and what I experienced (below). I would hope this will bring you peace.

Animals HAVE souls!
Animals have souls - and this was proven to me the day my cat, Green Eyes, died ... below is the story.

Green Eyes died about five years ago. He was approximately an 8-year-old stray cat when he came to me. He had been declawed and I think someone must have thrown him out. This was in about 2004. He was very sweet, intelligent and a very stoic little cat. When I brought my little girl cat home, Hannah, who was a baby when I got her, Green Eyes immediately adopted her and became like a “mommy" to her. Anyway, Green Eyes became very skinny and the vet did tests on him. He had diabetes. He also got sick and I found out he had cancer. He spent numerous times at the vet for several-day stays on IVs. I had to give him two insulin injections every day and this went on for a few years. I was living and working for a hospital in Illinois when he became so sick that I knew the end was near. I lived on the fifth floor at an apartment building, originally a stagecoach stop, built in 1838 - my place had 12-foot ceilings and 6-foot Mansard windows

Well, Dr. Bill my vet told me to call him that last week if Green Eyes did not improve and I would bring him to the clinic to be put down. It was a Sunday afternoon in August and I knew I had to make that call and Dr. Bill told me to meet him at the clinic. Before I left with my precious Green Eyes, I asked my dad to come and get him (his soul) when he passed. My dad died in 1988 but I know those who have passed can hear our prayer requests. While Green Eyes and I were waiting in the parking lot at the vet's for Dr. Bill to show up, I told Green Eyes that I had asked my dad to come for him and I wanted him to go with as I would see him again someday. In the meantime, Green Eyes was sitting there telling me off in cat language! When Dr. Bill showed up, he asked me what I wanted done with Green Eyes after we put him down via injection and I told him “.. I have asked my dad to come get him” and Dr. Bill said “.. you mean pick up his body?” I told him no, to come collect his little soul because I planned to see him again one day. Dr. Bill understood then.

Of course it broke my heart to let Green Eyes go but I could not stand to see him suffer another minute from his sickness. It was around 4 p.m. when I got back home. I was very sad about the whole thing but I wasn’t a basket case by any means. I took the elevator up to my apartment. It was a bright, sunny August afternoon. I went into my apartment and looked out my living room window. Much to my surprise and after rubbing my eyes several times to make sure I wasn’t seeing things, what I saw was my dad standing about five feet away from my window holding his pipe in his left hand and my Green Eyes was in my dad’s right arm and hand (mind you I was living five flights up from the street). They looked solid and quite frankly, were "just there" looking at me, standing in the air! My dad smiled at me and he was no longer in his 70s but he was like he was in his 40s. He was wearing a white tee shirt and brown slacks, like he used to wear when he did yardwork. They stayed there for a good five minutes, my dad smiling and I felt my Green Eyes was at peace and happy. What did this experience teach me? That it was my dad’s way of letting me know that he heard my request to come and collect Green Eyes soul at the time of his death.

I say that because I had a similar experience when my precious collie, Ashley died in 1999. Like you, I had to have her put to sleep because of liver failure and it was the hardest thing my husband and I had ever had to go through. She was also put to sleep on a Sunday. On Monday, once my husband left for work, and I had taken the day off from my MT job due to such grief, I went into our bedroom where she had last slept and curled up on the carpet, still smelling of her sweet scent and cried until I could cry no longer. She was scheduled to be cremated on Tuesday (which, by the way, I have not done again to another pet as it left me feeling terrible) and I still have her ashes. Tuesday afternoon, I was vacuuming the living room and suddenly something caught my eye. I turned toward the doorway in the dining room and there she stood! She was "just there", spirit but easy to see and identify. I ran to her and fell to my knees but she was gone. It was then I realized "she is not dead!" She is still alive and by God's grace and goodness he knew the pain I was in and he allowed me to see her one more time. It was from that time forth that I knew we would enjoy all of our pets again one day and be reunited with them for eternity. My dad died 10 years ago and his ashes are buried in a private cemetery on my mother's land, and shares this grave site with his beloved German Shepherd. I walk past his grave daily as I take long walks with my collie, Baillie. I often stop and talk to him, and like you, after losing 2 sweet kitties in 2012, I asked him to keep an eye out for them and take care of them until I see them all again. Thank you so much for your story. I can relate to it in so many ways! I have peace of mind about the rapture as well. You are correct. We know neither the time or the day, but we know Jesus is coming back for us at some point and if we are still alive to experience it, we along with our pets, whoever they might be, will be going together. I believe lots of us who loved our pets in life experience their visiting us afterwards to say "goodbye." To us, they are no different than losing a family member, "children who never grow up (only with a tail)!" They are precious to us. I know I will see my cat again one day and I just have to accept that he is now gone only temporarily in my life. I read somewhere that if we are kind to animals in life, we will experience us "extra kudos" in heaven also. I am happy that we had similar experiences.

I totally agree with all you just wrote. I look forward to having all my fur kids with me again in heaven. It will sure keep me busy, as I have had quite a few so far in my life, and hope to have pets in my life for as long as I live and can care for them. Thanks again for sharing with me.

How many animals do you have and how many of those live in your house? We already have 4 dogs and 1 cat in the house, along with several fish and a couple of hamsters. Two of our dogs are small around 15-20 lbs, one is about 30 lbs, and one basset hound at 55 lbs. We are now getting a Rott-lab-St. Bernard mix!!!! What the heck are we thinking? LOL!! I am just curious about other households and how many animals you have inside. I keep them very clean, all on flea meds, scrub my carpets 2-3 ...

Watch TV. I am sitting watching my 20 lb tuxedo kitty watch TV. He is just sitting quietly and attentively watching the news with me. My other kitty loves to sit on my lap and watch me do puzzles or video games on the computer. What I find odd is that they don't make any attempt to go after anything on the screens. Has anyone ever noticed that sometimes elderly people want a dog, cat or bird after a loved one dies? This happened with my MIL. She wanted a dog after her husband died, but she was at an age where two things were occurring: 1. The physical ability to care for the dog (walks, cleaning messes)was diminishing. 2. i am a severe animal lover, my pets are special to me, and i agree they can touch your heart in ways a human cannot. they do love you unconditionally, and that is a very special thing. i know because i recently lost my 3 pound maltese who was the joy in my life for years. i know i will miss her until i see her in heaven again. i dont feel animals have souls, but i do think God allows them in heaven with us in some sort of way. Is it just me or does it seem like the Anthony's had a LOT of pets who died and were buried in the backyard? Our family always had pets growing up, but I don't remember them dying all the time and burying them in the backyard!
