Montana - It is in the news

Posted: Aug 29th, 2017 - 9:08 pm In Reply to: What about Montana? - Old MT

The fires are bad in Montana but they are also bad in California, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia. I live in Eastern Washington State where we've had bad fire seasons for at least 5 years, I've been on level 2 and 3 evacuation status before and it is not fun. The air has been smoky where I live for weeks, people wear ventilator masks. This morning I had ash fallout on my car, the wind carries it from all the fires. And yes, it usually hangs around until first snowfall. I think this is always in the news, I knew about Montana long ago and I know there was coverage when our local situation was bad. We have had 2 or 3 local fires over the last several years where multiple homes were burned to the ground. Those who could afford to rebuilt, others were left homeless with only the clothes on their backs. You are not the only ones suffering. I'd say the situation in TX is a huge deal and only getting worse; we could use some of that rain in the Northwest. Actually, a drought situation for a number of years, high winds and dry lightning have more to do with wildfires starting than the "tree huggers." Careless campers, illegal fireworks and arson have also played a role, at least where I live.
