California Illegal Immigrant Tuition

Posted: Nov 16, 2010

I should not be surprised.  Leave it to the idiots in California.

The California Supreme Court has reversed a lower court holding and sided with California Regents and illegal aliens on the issue of in-state tuition breaks. Under the latest ruling, California colleges (California State University, the University of California, and California Community Colleges) have been given the green light to offer tuition breaks to illegal aliens and deny the same benefit to U.S. citizens from other states. The case is available at the California courts website.

As explained in a recent Center for Immigration Studies Memorandum, the University of California may already be passing up U.S. citizens for legal foreign students as a result of an extra $15,000-a-year payment from the federal government every time it admits a high-tech graduate student from overseas. When combined with today’s ruling it seems that U.S. citizens are at a greater disadvantage than ever before when it comes to securing a seat at a California college.

They vote in California (illegals) and in many other states because no ID is required to vote. In many states you pick up voter card and mail it in, and when you go to vote they check you off the list. I think someone in Congress tried to get a bill passed requiring your produce ID when you went to vote, but it got shot down because it was "interfering with a person's right to vote." I would have to research to see which party proposed it and which party shot it down. Don't know. But would be interesting to see.

And Obama talks about our future is in the education of OUR children. - sam

Instead...India. We all know where most of the "high tech" students would be coming from...so they can go home and have American jobs offshored to them. America got hosed on both sides of that deal.

There you go again with the misdirected - blame game

[ In Reply To ..]
You blame him for something a California court is doing--get over it already. If you want to talk about India, talk about the big money from the US Chamber and the corporations that buy elections so they can keep the jobs there (and don't forget that September Republican filibuster against the bill to bring the jobs back).

Umm...last time I looked he was the President of the US... - sam

[ In Reply To ..]
which makes him the "feds" who are giving those California colleges $15000 a head to admit the "high tech" foreign students. THAT was the source of my comment. Read the post a little closer so you don't miss parts in your zeal to attack me. That is materially supporting these high tech students who will go back home and get American jobs because they will work cheaper in their own countries than employers could pay high tech Americans here at home because, like it or not, Democrats just will NOT stop the crazy taxation of the businesses who employ we the people. They just do not know when to STOP redistribution of wealth through taxation. I sincerely wish they would learn, tho, before the Chinese call in our loans. Think about THAT for awhile.

Wow. So TStone and Sam ARE the same person - Fun game, huh?

I'm a Republican. Sam is an Independent. There's a big difference. So, why don't you use your name? Too scared? Back up your opinions with a name. I think people take you more seriously if you give a name. Otherwise, you're just a troll.

By the way....Sam's a lot nicer than I am. ;-)

It's just semantics.

I am a conservative, not a Republican. Registered Independent. Wake up and smell the roses, friend. Not everyone who is not a Democrat IS a Republican. Does your brain even have the ability to function INDEPENDENTLY? Well the answer is obviously no.

Just asking.
Talk about ASSUMPTIONS - why don't you ask the moderator - Evil republican - see message
[ In Reply To ..]
If you keep posting that you think certain posters are all the same people it only looks foolish on your part.

Sam and Tstone have very different writing styles. Why don't you ask the moderator if these are the same people. She will be able to tell you for sure.

In fact I think I remember a post by the moderator awhile back stating something to the effect of there are a lot of posters on this board and people should not assume that posters are the same people (not her exact words but I think it was something like that). But if you ask her she can tell you for sure. I don't believe they are, but if they do happen to be the same person who cares. Both of them seem to have enough guts to put the same moniker they keep using all the time. Neither are afraid to post something and claim it as their own. Unlike this post I'm replying to.

Maybe people should stick to the issues being discussed instead of ganging up on posters and making it personal.
Gee, assuming again. - Backwards Typist
[ In Reply To ..]

Just because there are a couple people on here that don't agree with you, you assume it's one person making all the posts. WRONG!

How long have you been on this board? I've been here almost every day for the past 2 years even though I don't post messages or replies all the time, but I still read the posts. Sometimes, I feel it's not worth it to reply to a post and sometimes I find a news item that I think if worthy of this board.

One rule of being an MT, don't assume anything!

I'm waiting to hear that I am also you and Sam and Tstone - Evil Republican
[ In Reply To ..]
I agree with your statement. Whenever someone doesn't agree they assume its just one person posting. As though there is only one conservative/independent/and others out there. What they fail to learn is that we are not afraid to put our Moniker with the content of our post. Can't say the same for them. They must be so ashamed and can't back up their posts so they don't stick with one moniker each time they post.

I think that is what the moderator wrote one time too is to not assume that different people are the same person. I've been on this board for about a year or so and there are a lot of people that post. I used to have other names but someone would come and post with the same moniker so I changed from time to time.
This is why you/Bushies take responsibility - for the mortgage crisis?
[ In Reply To ..]
Because it happened on your watch? Cool. Glad we got that cleared up. Having to click through your rants about my friend Barney is really tiresome.
Nice attempt at deflection, Barney'sfriend..... - sam
[ In Reply To ..]
and the fact that you identify yourself as his friend only supports the notion that you do not ascribe to Dr. King's note about judging a man on the content of his character. That is if you even know what character is. You might try looking that up before going to the video evidence that Barney is directly responsible for the mortgage meltdown.

Your attitude is not tiresome, it's pathetic. I repeat again...it is no wonder this country is in the shape it's in. Democrats have been trying to run it into the ground since the 1860's. I never knew how badly until I started looking at history closer. Never knew raiding Social Security Trust Fund was on them, or that they kept African Americans from getting the vote until 19 freaking 64....I suppose you are proud of those accomplisments too.

For all the bad stuff the Republicans have done...they do not hold a candle to your bunch.

And still you rah rah. You and Barney are birds of a feather for sure.

[ In Reply To ..]
Don't know what your issue is, don't care. This is a politics board, not a junior high playground. Do you really not have anything other than this kind of nonsense?

I repeat, if all Democrats are like you, it is no wonder the country is in the shape its in.

Come on 2012. Another house cleaning. And the sadness of it is...you do it to yourselves.

I am thinking the REAL Democrats are out there pulling together to take their party back from you hard lefties who have hijacked it. I don't think they like you as well anymore.

I hope the Republicans clean theirs up as well. Then maybe I can in good conscience join a political party again.

Scared? Why on earth would you use that word? On an anonymous posting board?

Paranoia 101. That is one-oh-one, not laughing out loud. Nothing to laugh at here.

though that has escaped the pile-on poster/posters. I would really just like to know if they can defend some of these things. I would ask the Republicans the same thing. If Rangel was a Republican, it would be you Republicans I was asking the question. He's not. If Obama was a Republican, I would be asking the same questions about him. He's not.
True, true..... - tstone
[ In Reply To ..]
I asked myself a lot of questions about Bush in his last few years. I am registered as a Republican, but really consider myself more of an independent/conservative. If there was a good Democratic candidate for a particular job I would vote for him. I'm not a hardline Republican at all. In fact, the far right embarrasses me to no end. I am pro choice but a fiscal conservative. I'd just like to see this country get back on track, no matter who is in the white house/congress/senate. I don't see a lot of solutions to the problems being offered. Dems want to tax and spend and I think the Republicans have a lot of ground to cover. They certainly screwed things up themselves and they have some crow to eat. I just hope they can get it done and we can get Obama out in 2012. I don't think my finances can take much more of this economy.
Yep. I am hoping that the "shellacking" will put us back on the right road... - sam

to country before party.

And that is one thing that IS different with us...I am not pro-choice, but that is a moral issue with me, not a political one. So see, we ARE different...lol.

We are alike however on fiscal conservatism. And neither Bush nor Obama have been good guardians of our money as far as I am concerned. Bush was bad enough, but Obama is Bush on steroids.

yikes.
Unfortunately....... - tstone
[ In Reply To ..]
the left has turned the pro choice issue into a political one in an attempt to garner the female vote. Just like immigration....they're soft on immigration because that's a good portion of their voting base.

Being pro choice is a moral decision, but the lines have become blurred over the last many years. I do have issues with certain aspects of the pro choice movement, but all in all I think it is a personal choice and one that should be made between a woman and her doctor. It's nobody's business really, especially not the government's. Well, I shouldn't say that because pretty soon they will have access to all of our personal health records, which is part of their agenda.

I'm sure this is well known here, but the Feds are paying each physician $44,000 to transition to electronic medical records. They just have to show meaningful use by 1/1/11. I lost a huge account for this very reason. It's my money they're using to bribe these physicians away from me, too. It's beyond maddening.
That is where my conservatism really kicks in... - sam
[ In Reply To ..]
the federal government is already too much in our business. And people just want to give them carte blanche and have no clue what they are inviting.

That too is beyond maddening.

before you start pointing fingers. It was your esteemed skirt chaser who started the ball rolling for Fannie and Freddie.

"Our liberal friends keep telling us that the Bush Administration is responsible for the housing and mortgage mess and that Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the Democrats had nothing to do with it. The fact is that Clinton and other liberal Democrats pushed for easing of the rules, and Dodd, Frank and Obama resisted any tightening, as well as benefited financially for their efforts. Our friend, Gabe, unearthed this telling piece from the New York Times from 1999. Senator Obama, Bill Clinton was President then."

why are they allowed in schools if they are illegal? - MarineMom

[ In Reply To ..]
The INS says they can't find all the illegals to deport them, yet illegals are receiving welfare (um don't they have to provide an address), they get free medical care, and when my children went to school (I live in Iowa), I had to produce a birth certificate for each of them. I say, if you cannot produce a birth certificate for them, they do not go to school here....simple as that. I realize that some anchor babies were born here, so they do have a birth certificate, but then again, they are legal US Citizens because they were born here (whole other controversy). The gov't in all its wisdom (cough, cough) makes it way too easy for these people to stay here illegally. If they aren't going to get off their lazy behinds to do something about it, then they can't very well gripe cuz they are here. Why is it so obvious to us common folks what the problem is, but it eludes the govt??

We are not allowed to discriminate or even ask... - Cheryl B
