CNN Poll: 67% Oppose Obama’s Executive Agenda

Posted: Jan 30, 2014

A CNN/ORC poll of viewers who watched the last State of the Union address found that 67% oppose Barack Obama’s plan to pursue his political agenda via executive orders.

During his speech last night, Obama unveiled a raft of executive orders and also promised to enact gun control measures “with or without Congress.”

However, viewers reacted negatively to Obama’s plan to bypass lawmakers. They were asked, “In general, would you rather see Barack Obama attempt to reach a bipartisan compromise with Congress on major issues, or would you rather see Obama take unilateral action without Congress to make changes in government policy that are not supported by Republicans?”

Just 30% said they want Obama to take unilateral action, with 67% opposing his executive agenda, which U.S. House Rep. Randy Weber last night described as the behavior of a “socialist dictator.”

Gee, Obama is becoming more and more unpopular by the day.  His approval rating number will probably be in the negative at the end of his second term.

arrogant comportment, it kind of makes one wonder if dictatorship has been his main goal from the beginning.

Is the obstructionist House of Reps a willing participant in this - dictatorship theory?

[ In Reply To ..]
They obviously want to leave it all up to him since all they see fit to do is to pass bills regarding antiabortion and repealing the ACA.

We'll see what comes out of the Republican leaders’ annual issues conference retreat and if the Reps can get it together and agree with anything **within** their party long enough to get anything done. They are already infighting about immigration.

Dictatorship is not possible in this country, but being the only one to do any work for the American people sure is and I'm glad to see, if left with no other choice, Obama is ready to move something forward while the Reps continue to waste time with their stale in-party drama.

Why do you say obstructionist House...? - NPC

Is that the new buzz word(s) when the President doesn't get his way? Do you not realize that most people are intelligent enough to see beyond your sensationalist word(s)?
obstruction equals stop, block, end. New? No. This is old, unfortunately. - nm

I find it ridiculous that it is being used because Washington can't seem to agree on anything. Is it fair to tack it to either side? I think not. I think the President needs to FIND a way to reach common ground and not insist on having his way or the highway.
Boehner:We should not be judged on how many new laws we create. We ought to be judged on how many - laws we repeal."

How does Obama reach common ground when this is the backward thinking, nonprogressive, stagnant obstructionism he is met with?

The president has tried many times to reach common ground even after the obstructionist Republican statement was to make him a one-term president at the beginning of his first term. That set the tone. He tried, but no common ground was sought by the republicans ever. "Having his way or the highway" is old, meaningless right-wing rhetoric.

We won't agree here, so I won't belabor the point. - NPC

Hmmm. 44 + 32 = 76. Pretty good President Obama!

work together. I think most of us would rather; but, in the absence of cooperation between the branches, I support EOs issued that are in accordance with the US Constitution. I think Ronald had over 500 during his presidency. Also, I don't consider three EOs to be a "raft" at all. This phrasing is all over the conservative websites, not on CNN.

Al Sharpton Is Obama’s Whipping BoyJan 01, 2015
As more and more racially-motivated attacks against police and private citizens are occurring as a result of the recent and unfortunate deaths of two black men at the hands of police, the blame for all of this racial division needs to be squarely placed on the laps of President Obama and race-baiters like Rev. Michelle Obama recently revealed that she and President Obama don’t give Christmas gifts to each other. They merely say, “We’re in Hawaii,” and that’s Christmas gift enough. The total cost to taxpayers of Obama’s vacations to Hawaii since becoming president is likely in excess of $20 million, and possibly much, much more.
