HOURS CUT

Please remember myself and co-worker; we are in need of prayers. We have worked for the same hospital for over 13 years and have received word that our hours are being cut in half. It is going to be difficult to try and work part time and in need of full time wages.

I believe in prayer AND action. There are many promises in the Bible, and God invites us to test him by claiming a promise and then praying about it and having faith that he will answer our prayer. I have personally done this just recently. We moved to West Virginia from California last year with a very sick dog. She had skin cancer on her head and her leg. The one on her leg was bleeding bright-red blood. Whenever we stopped, someone would say, "That looks nasty; you need to take that dog to a vet." I prayed that Sadie would make it to WV. Once in West Virginia, we were able to afford Sadie's surgery because I had just retrieved my 401K. She recovered nicely and was soon "galloping" all over the place like only a bassett hound can do. Then, this winter, she developed another "thing" on her belly, which the vet said was probably the same thing. Hubby said no way can we afford surgery again for that dog, which was very true. It consisted of two parts, a long line and then a round "blood blister" that filled and popped. She was putting out quite a bit of blood. We had a special healing prayer at our church, one for Sadie and one for hubby's diabetic cousin, who was due to have his leg amputated. Little by little, Sadie's bleeding slowed down, the long line scabbed over and finally dropped off completely, and now there is just a tiny black circle about the size of a tick which looks like a healing scab. I say it is all God. The diabetic cousin still has his leg, but he continues to smoke and I don't know if God will answer that prayer or not.

I have had too many things "happen" in my life that I firmly attribute to prayer. You can call it coincidence or whatever but I know it was God and that is my belief. I pray all the time and not just for something I need, I thank God every day for keeping my kids safe, my mom healthy and alive, etc.

so let me get this right....if the prayer thing works than god has answered your prayers. and if prayers don't work it's because god didn't answer your prayers. i think i'm getting the hang of it now. so if the dog is healed god is great. and if not, well, god works in mysterious ways, i suppose. but prayers sure do work!! another thing, why is it that the inspiration for prayers are, oh, about 99% self aggrandizement? i mean, did the dog really want to live, or is it that the owners fear facing his death? just wondering.

Are there jobs in other departments at your hospital that you can do? Ask management if they can place you in another department. I am sorry you are going through this. I lost my MT job after 19 years. They didn't cut hours, they laid all of us off. Many of us were placed in other departments, so it does not hurt to ask if there is something else you can do. See if you can draw partial UE. Good luck.

Taking action is also required. I am a believer in prayer (i.e., I do not feel it is a waste of time), but I also believe people have to take control over their lives and must take action and not just wait for God. You know the saying, "God helps those who help themselves." In my opinion, he doesn't just mean "God helps those who pray."

So, best of luck to you. If you work to get a job and it still doesn't happen, do not blame God. (See, that's part of the problem with believing that God takes care of everything. He does not.) I don't ever get mad at God if things don't work out.

Just as an aside, I know someone who couldn't decide what color rug to get for her living room. So she prayed to God. I think that is silly, just make up your own mind.

There is also the mindset of if a child dies that "God must have wanted that child." Well, does that mean that he didn't want other children?

I won't go on and on, but just take action and control over your own life, and do not turn it over completely to a higher power or another human being.

I just learned that under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) companies with greater than 50 employees are required to offer insurance to all employees who work an average of 30 or greater hours per week.
