SEIU....isn't that the "purple shirt" union that... - sam

got into so much trouble during the presidential election? My how the worm turns. Gotta love a union that cuts your kids off their healthcare insurance.

Gee, when the HCR kicks in fully, what are they going to do then? - Backwards Typist

Or is it right now that children of workers are covered until age 26? Anyway, they will have to cover the dependents.

They wanted HCR, they got it. I noticed their excuse was because there was no public option. Hm-m-m. That's beside the point. Evidently, they just didn't do the math and are now blaming the state and HCR. Can't have your cake and eat it too.

They can't, but they will try.... - sam

to have their cake and eat it too.

They are trying to force the public option. - Zville MT

They'll come back with ads about all these poor children who don't have insurance coverage and they'll push the public option, then whatever else they decide they want by then.

I am rather surprised that they were covering - children in the first place

It seems like most places I know have "insurance" where the employee actually has to pay in to get it. Companies that offer "paid" insurance usually only offer the single policy, and the family coverage is available if the employee pays extra. Benefits are redone every year, so I am not surprised with the way insurance premiums were going up over the last 10 years, that they would have to cheapen up the policies. HCR is needed now, not in 2014.

It was a union doing the covering, did you read it? - sam

not the employer. But the union, those great supports of their members, the downtrodden, had to stop it because they could not "afford" it anymore. Probably due to the part of Obamacare that was effective in Sept...the part about keeping kids on the policy until age 26 whether they live at home or not or a student or not. Guess the SEIU did not do the math. That is also why family policy rates will continue to go up, even though Obamacare said no one would lose their insurance and rates would not go up. And the lies continue to pile up.

You know, the SEIU is a huge union...why didn't Andy Stern take a pay cut so the kids could stay insured?
Or better yet, why did he back a plan that would end up hurting his members?
Both good questions.

Sorry, I didn\'t realize this was another union bashing post - nm

LOL. The Union themselves admitted it...so if any... - sam

bashing was done, they did it themselves. They cut the kids off because they couldn't afford to keep them on anymore. It is bound to happen to other companies/unions too. It is just karma that the SEIU, who were such big proponents of this, were some of the first to feel the real effects that they were warned of ad nauseam but did not listen. Sometimes you get what you ask for and it turns out maybe you didn't really want it in the first place.

An all you got out of it was a union bashing post. You would think people would try to learn from this...or you would at least HOPE.
No, I was thinking beyond the obvious intention - Try it.

Premiums have been going up and up. Many people have cut back on insurance--unions included. That is why we need HCR.
Yeah. Uh huh. The elephant in the room is this happened... - sam

when the first wave of Obamacare took effect (keeping kids on the insurance until they are 26). The union dropped those kids like a hot potato because their insurance company said we can't afford it.

The SEIU...the company that pushed so hard for Obamacare and who are the first ones to drop the kids...the SEIU.

And you still say that's why we need Obamacare. LOL.
