read what this website has to say about rape, pregnancy and abortion! http://www.abortionfacts.com/online_books/love_them_both/why_cant_we_love_them_both_29.asp

...and this Christian website repeats most of the same "abortion facts".  Who are these people that compile abortion facts?  Funny that they exclude "statutory rape" and "marital rape".  http://www.christianliferesources.com/article/rape-pregnancies-are-rare-461

Some people say there is no "war on women".  Since the beginning of time there has been a "war on women".  Who do they think they are kidding?  It is about time all this came out into the open light of day.  Jesus himself was respectful of women, an attribute his apostles felt threatened by and buried and twisted in writing the Bible.

maybe that's what he was referring to when he said something about "old" information? I'm not sure if I read it here on this board or somewhere else. He still should drop out, IMO.

The point is, he is not alone in his thinking. nm. - VTMT

that is their right. There are people who also agree that a late term abortion where the arms and legs are torn off an infant and it is thrown in the Red Bucket in the Operating Room is murder. So what's your point?
You must be overjoyed the GOP platform just - saddled themselves with this albatross

Wanna bet scores of RINOs, who actually DO outnumer the wingers, and some of whom are Pro-Choice (Scott Brown et al), called in sick today? My GOP sister thinks the Akin platform is the turning point that just sealed the GOPs fate. I just got of the phone with her. She said she woke up this morning and found out she no longer has a political party.

In the meantime, GOP pols, operatives and spokesfolks are rejecting each other and themselves. What a mess.

Way to go, Team Romney!
Well, if your sister says so, then I guess it must be (sm) - Aunt Sue

true for every woman. It's the Obama campaign who is trying to saddle the GOP with this. The GOP has had right to life on their platform for years. All of a sudden, Team Obama sees a way to make it about abortion. Abortion never was on the platform. Neither was rape. They're just grasping at straws, and if they make their whole campaign about abortion, I think they will lose more than they gain (except your sister, of course).
Lemme get this straight... - sm

So, this was never really about abortion and Obama MADE Akin do an interview and say all that stuff.

(In case you forgot, here's what he said... “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let’s assume that maybe that didn’t work or something: I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be of the rapist, and not attacking the child.”)

Which means that Akin is actually working for Obama which means that Akin is a SOCIALIST!

I think I got it. Thanks!

"The GOP has had right to life on their platform for years" and "abortion never was on the platform." Please explain, as I find these statements to be in conflict.

I personally do not think that anybody's campaign should be uprooted by some rogue fundamentalist shooting off his mouth.

What CAN uproot a campaign (and likely should), is that the VP pick of the potential leader of the free world has cosponsored a House Bill with Akin: a proponent of hands-in-your-pants, religion-trumps-all legislation. This is a problem.

Akin's statement was stupid and denounced by many in the GOP. Had it come from the POTUS, that would be one thing, but the guy is a state congressman and spoke individually, I'm sure much to the chagrin of his constituents. Saying that he speaks for the GOP is like saying that Fred Phelps speaks for all Christians. Just ain't true. It's too bad that Romney will have to deal with it and that Obama's campaign will make use of it, but that's what politics has come to.
Ryan supports Akin's stance on abortion, not for any reason. - nm

Abortion information we can use.... - Yes we can.

I had to take a long, long moment (and put my chick-who-stares-at-zygotes cap on) to just sit there pondering the “Why Not Abort Her?” subtitle with my mouth hanging wide open.  So, with clothespin pinched tightly in place over nasal structures, I slogged through these Christian gems of wisdom.  Their definition of rape is problematic on levels too numerous to count.

Are assault rape pregnancies common? / What are the accurate numbers?

For starters, unreported rapes remain out of the dialog, making any rape stats available deeply skewed in downward direction and seriously flawed.  Most crime stats only reflect Akin-esque forcible rapes and numbers become even more unreliable, , depending on how detailed or truncated operative definitions are.  For the sake of argument, the first link below reported 84,767 “forcible” rapes for 2010.  Of those, the CDC reports more than 32,000 pregnancies occur each year.  This is what the bimbos are calling “rare.”

Keep in mind, this excludes statutory, marital and date rapes, incest, and all other “qualified” flavors of nonconsensual encounters.  By contrast, Rape Trauma Services tallies 683,000 REPORTED rapes in the US yearly.  This boils down to 78 women per hour.  Double that figure and you will almost have the composite total, with an estimate of 54% rapes being unreported (link #3), which also asserts that only 3% of all rapists ever spend a day in jail.  These figures include women ages 18 and over, so the younger teens and child incest victims aren’t counted.

How many pregnancies result? / Please explain.

Pregnancy results from 5% of the all vaginal penetration sexual intercourse encounters.  This includes all the convoluted and contorted mathematical machinations the bimbos use, as detailed below.  Lady parts have no magic sperm-killing/sperm-immune secretions when forced, no spastic tubes response, no hidden cervical trap doors, and no penis-pulverizing dentition emerges on demand from the vaginal walls when being raped.  Pregnancy is Mother Nature’s ultimate crap shoot.   Biological science says so, THAT’S why.

According to the bimbos, the lucky pre-pubescent, post menopausal, medically- or physiologically-sterilized, contraceptive-protected and rhythmically-correct rape victims defy these odds, as do the more fortunate ones whose rapists fail to ejaculate properly, or are medically- or physiologically-sterile.  Luckier still are those rape victims whose bodies have been “upset” and whose brains have been psyched out (read physically violated and emotionally traumatized), making them much more likely to miscarry.   I guess if the forces are with you and the stars are in alignment, Mother Nature steps in and kills the kid, thus eliminating the need to ponder abortion!

The discrepancies between their mathematical formulas and the reported statistical data on rape victim pregnancy, indicate somebody’s not dealing with a full deck, but one thing is for sure.  This is not a “rare” occurrence for those 32,000+ pregnant rape victims who, by GOP logic, must all be liars anyway, so they don’t count either.

Why not allow abortion for rape pregnancies? / But carry the rapist’s baby? / I don’t see how she could /But many laws allow for this exception / You accuse the women of lying? ….all the way down to the Incest section

I do not have the stomach to address these questions, since I couldn’t get past the utterly infuriating hypocrisy and self-righteous hubris of approaching this subject with self-proclaimed “great compassion.”  I will say that the “half the baby is HERS” logic defies the 1Kings 3:16-28 biblical story that relates how REAL mothers do not saw their babies in half.  Also, the idea of any person, male or female, Christian or atheist, who has not faced either rape or abortion would have a clue about what the realities actually entail, sends me running toward the exit.  Of course, the blindly bizarre twist on the feminist radical Gloria Steinem’s words is WAY over the top.

Incest

OK.  That does it.  Incest involves a SICK MOTHER?  The incest rapist is the victim’s LOVE OBJECT?  She harbors no resentment?  The pregnancy conveniently brings the “relationship” to a halt?  It brings the child closer to the mother?

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT??????  This is INSANE.

This is the kind of thing...sm - JTBB

Red Dog EyesJun 10, 2010

Paul Ryan's Eyes -- Seriously....Mar 10, 2013
Am I the only one who thinks there is something seriously off about Paul Ryan's eyes?  Years ago, I read that when the whites of the eyes show below the irises, it's an indication of something--I can't remember quite what, but I think it was a negative thing.  That look has always given me a bit of a chill.  I believe some thyroid conditions cause a similar look, so maybe that's it.   ...
