Surely, the question is puzzling to many on both sides of the aisle. There are several reasons, in my opinion:
1. The Clintons have been getting away with sleaze - and worse - throughout their public lives. There is a part of Hillary that believes she will escape consequences one more time.
2. Hillary sees herself as "entitled" to this Presidency.
3. Hillary has little or no regard for either the intelligence OR the character of her supporters. If you support Hillary you will believe anything she says regardless of clear evidence to the contrary, and you will tolerate anything she does regardless of how improper, incompetent or even criminal that it might be.
4. Hillary believes that being a Presidential candidate offers her a degree of immunity from any prosecution that might be lurking with respect to her handling of classified information. Would there not be a certain reluctance of the Justice Department - especially in a Democratic administration - to actually issue an arrest warrant for a Democrat Presidential candidate? I think there would be, and I think if she dropped out of the race (thereby rendering herself merely an ordinary private citizen) she would be much more vulnerable to prosecution.
As incomprehensible as it might seem, Hillary will not drop out of the race.
