Vetting Continues

Posted: Apr 7, 2012

It's kind of like peeling an onion...little by little, peeling away one layer at a time.  It really doesn't take a rocket scientist to put it all together, but you don't have a chance unless you put down the glass of Kool-Aid and actually listen.  Flame on. Wink

The Vetting: Meet Obama's Catholic Mentor, Father Michael Pfleger

Father Michael Pfleger, a radical religious figure and a friend of President Barack Obama’s, may be out of the national headlines. But that doesn’t mean he’s stopped his “social justice” activism. “We cannot talk about Trayvon Martin without talking about the racism that is alive and well in America today,” he said. “America, we demand you deal with race,” Pfleger preached at his South Side St. Sabina Church, according to the Chicago Tribune on March 26, 2012.

Sporting a hoodie himself, Pleger challenged Florida’s Stand Your Ground law and unspecified other gun laws as “crazy, racist laws.” “Jesus wore a hood,” Pfleger cried out from the pulpit. “Is he suspicious?”

What is suspicious—or more likely, spurious—is how Pfleger understands race. Pfleger, like Rev. Jeremiah Wright, is an ardent defender of Louis Farrakhan, leader of the anti-Semitic and racist Nation of Islam.

“I don’t think there is any group or religion in America that has done more for the African-American male than the Nation of Islam. I feel the real problem is, America doesn’t know how to handle Louis Farrakhan or the truth,” Pfleger told The New York Times.

He also told the Times that Farrakhan and he have visited each other’s homes and that Farrakhan had twice lectured from Father Pfleger’s South Side church pulpit. Pfleger, who is well known in left-wing circles in Chicago, would come to national prominence during the 2008 convention, ultimately forcing Barack Obama to leave Reverend Wright’s church and cut ties with his radical associates.

Pfleger had been close to Obama ever since the young Obama first arrived in Chicago as a community organizer. Obama also seems to have been close to Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam. Obama, then taking a break for campaigning for his bid for state senate, attended the Nation of Islam’s Million Man March in Washington in 1995. Pfleger would later endorse Obama, over former Black Panther Bobby Rush, citing his “grassroots background in the [South Side] communities.” Pfleger said that for poor black areas on the South Side "to receive the resources, opportunities and advantages that are afforded other communities and other individuals in this state, it's going to take someone like Barack Obama."

Pfleger knew of what he spoke. Indeed, candidate Obama advertised his endorsement from Pfleger in his presidential bid. According to a profile of Barack Obama’s religious faith that ran in the Chicago Sun-Times in 2004, it was Pfleger that was credited with helping the young Barack develop a “moral compass.” “He really came here with a very strong passion about how we can change things, and he understood the churches as being a vehicle for doing that,” Pfleger later told The Christian Science Monitor on July 16, 2007.

For Barack Obama, as with Father Pfleger, the Catholic Church has always been a medium for delivering his message – or rather, a tool to be exploited for his own political gain. It’s a pattern that continues today.

all of Obama's radical friends were just swept under the carpet as no big deal. Some of these people are CRAZY radical. I also find it plausible that Obama agrees with these radical friends of his....which concerns me if he gets re-elected. What will he do if he doesn't have to worry about another election? What will the president do when he is finally out of campaign mode? That is what worries me.

Flame away! ;)

Gee, I wonder who else in the political - world as "tool to be

exploited as his own political gain". I also wonder which politicians are members of ALEC, an organization that marries politicians and corporations to exploit anyone who does not agree with their view of the world. How about Wisconsin stripping voting rights from the democrats in their senate? I could go on and on. I am sick at heart at our so-called democracy. Why don't those of you who are determined to make Obama "other" than what we usually have in politicians focus more on the illusion of democracy in this country? If you really want to continue with "business as usual" then fine. Ignore what I said.

Why don't you folks ever post about how wonderful Romney is ... - me

[ In Reply To ..]
...and how he's going to change the country?

Oh, that's right, even Repubs don't care for Romney very much.

Who says? There have been different - candidates running

[ In Reply To ..]
everyone is not for the same person. That doesn't mean that Republicans won't stand behind him. I remember back in the primary for the 2008 election wondering if they were ever going to decide on a Democratic nominee. People seemed to be split, no difference here. A lot of people liked Hilary Clinton too.

I prefer Rick Santorum, but I will have no problem whatsoever voting for Romney. When someone is close to winning the overall primary for the Republican party, why would you think Republicans don't like him? Does that really make sense to you?

Romeny's endorsements have - been a joke so far

[ In Reply To ..]
McCain’s Freudian slip, where he inadvertently endorsed President OBAMA instead of Romney, and had to be corrected, can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34phsb4e6Eg

Mark Rubio: "There are a lot of other people out there that some of us wish had run for president, but they didn't." Rubio ends up endorsing Romney simply because he is going to be the GOP nominee…as though he has no other choice.

Paul Ryan: “The more we drag it out, the harder it is to win in November…it becomes counterproductive if it drags on much longer.” One has to ask why is it that prolonging the primary selection process diminishes GOP chances to win in November. Could it have something to do with how divided the candidates and their support bases have been against EACH OTHER?

All HW Bush could manage to do with his tepid endorsement was to channel his inner Kenny Rogers by advising his opponents to “fold ‘em.” As the lyrics continue, he appeared to be running…not walking…away from even a hint of enthusiasm.

George Pataki (my favorite): "Now, Mitt is not a perfect candidate. He has a number of problems. It's hard for blue-collar families like mine to identify with him. It's hard for economic conservatives to identify with him. He needs to do more to reach out to the Latinos….”

Ken Cuccineli, GOP Atty General and aspiring gubernatorial candidate, opponent of health care reform act and Romneycare, refuses to endorse anyone, saying he is going to “ride it out.”

Senator Mike Lee-UT made a vague statement calling for party unity, without even mentioning Romney’s name: "This is a pretty critical year. There are big decisions for the country to make and ... I think we would be well-advised as Republicans to start getting behind our eventual nominee."

TX Rep Lamar Smith gave his second-best salute to Romney: "The Republican Party is fortunate to have many candidates who are well-qualified ... Last May—three months before Gov. Perry announced his candidacy—I contributed to Gov. Romney's campaign and committed to supporting him. Both candidates have impressive records of creating jobs and controlling spending in their home states. My support of Gov. Romney does not lessen my regard for Gov. Perry."

Al Cardenas, American Conservative Union Chairman, expressed his fear of a brokered convention in his endorsement, by addressing the GOP patriotic duty of saving the Republic: "With all due respect to my fellow conservative leaders determined to oppose Gov. Romney, that is not a worthy endeavor. For the sake of our Republic, I'm not willing to wait until the Republican National Convention to sort this out. “

Can anyone identify a single unifying reason why these party officials are supporting Romney other than the perceived electibility factor conjured up by the media? Where's the enthusiasm for the candidate himself? IMO, enthusiasm matters. It has a direct effect on voter turn-out. As far as uniting behind Romney is concerned, I would't bank on it, especially when it comes to garnering votes from independents, particulalry the votes of women among their ranks.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34phsb4e6Eg
At the end of the day, the conservatives are - going to support him if
[ In Reply To ..]
he is the one who eventually wins the primary. For a lot of conservatives and even independents, this is more of a "get Obama out" election, and I really don't see Romney winning the primary hurting voter turn out. A lot of conservatives a very conservative, where Romney is a moderate. Would I rather see a super conservative running, Yes, but I don't think him being a little more moderate is going to hurt him.

GOP should spend a little more time - vetting their own contenders

[ In Reply To ..]
Case in point, an entire field of primary candidates whom nobody seems to want to get behind, producing a frontrunner who represents essentially nobody but the top 1% of the 1% whom no one wants to vote for. They are so preoccupied with their hatred for Obama, they cannot even recognize their own leadership crisis. Then there was their vetting disaster in 2008....

Still "vetting" a president who has been in office for 3 years? L.O.L.

Vetting not necessary - Dems are idiots

Best I've seen in a long time on here and sure does sum it up. Some are so blinded by their ridiculous, pointless other than self-serving, mind-numbing ideology they have no common sense left. Others want everyone else to manage their lives, 'cause they're too lazy to take care of themselves (for the ones not able to figure it out w/o dem and lib guidance, the prior statement excludes those unable to physically/mentally care for themselves). Glad to be Independent and not be led like sheep from one dem/lib/prog loser to another.

And in only less than half that time Democrate doctrine - - Liberals are Insane

Obama years = Doing the same thing as the Bush years but thinking no one will notice. But even better than that they've made it worse. In just half the time.

We need republicans to clean up the mess that not only did Bush leave, but Obama worsened triple fold. The key is when an employee is losing the company money, pitting employees against other employees, and destroying everything the company built then it's time to fire them. I am hopeful America has woken up and he'll be fired.
The dumb ones will still vote for him-- they are waiting for their "Obama money". n/m - n/m

Then spend with no accountability, massive waste. Then they throw in the race baiting. Then Obama starts class division and pitting one against another. Then Obama feigns moral outrage over imaged and inflated "war on women". Then, Obama picks and chooses who OBAMA thinks should succeed in America, insulting, degrading everyone else.

Oh wait, that is the DEMOCRATIC DOCTRINE.

After the RNC/McCain camp failed to vet SP before announcing their VP pick, you may recall how that process took place in the media. During her interview with Charlie Gibson, she clearly demonstrated she had no idea, even in its most general sense, what the Bush Doctrine is. Mr. Gibson tried to give her clues about the pre-emptive war aspect of the doctrine (there are other basic components of the policy) by posing a such-as question, but it was still WAY above her head. The interview took place in 2008, but the doctrine had been around since 2001, which informed the audience that the GOP VP pick was astoundingly ignorant on even them most basic matters of foreign policy and national security that had been in place for SEVEN YEARS.

The doctrine is a set of Bush's FOREIGN policy principles, and has nothing to do with domestic agendas. In addition to pre-emptive strikes, it advocates unilateralism, attacking countries that harbor terroists, democatic "regime change" and foreign intervention. The democrats have no such similar set of hawkish foreign policy principles.

Foreign policy, not domestic. Got it?

Many more links about this. Those are just a few. Here's a news flash - just because you don't want to believe something doesn't mean its not true (i.e. a lot of people don't want to believe Obama is president but he is), comprendo?

Again, the facts are there BTW. No matter how hard you try to claim it isn't. You can't ignore facts.
