There are actually two things in this article. I am a believer in the second ammendment and a democrat. However, I also believe there are people out there who should not own guns. Perhaps this bill was vague (I haven't seen the actual bill), but I do believe people with severe mental illness with violence tendencies should not own guns.

The other issue is the last paragraph: "The goal of the rule was to minimize coal mine pollutants in waterways and would have required coal companies to monitor water quality in nearby streams during mining operations. Republicans argued the law was too burdensome and would kill jobs in the coal industry."

I for one do not care if the law is burdensome, we need to protect our water supply. Getting rid of this is absolutely ridiculous.

I don't disagree with you regarding mental issues and violent tendencies means no gun. But did the original regulation from Obama allow for that distinction?

The article seems to say that under the Obama regulation anyone with a mental illness was unable to own guns. I don't agree with that and I don't think the Constitution agrees with that.

Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on your views, there will be many more of these as Republicans undo Obama's "pen and phone" rules and regulations.

shouldn't own guns. I guess the dilemma is where do we draw the line. As stated in my post, I didn't see the actual bill. I guess it will require more research on my part to see what the actual bill says. Was just curious on other folks opinions about this.

The second part of the article seriously concerns me. This is the stuff that I fear when Trump says he is going to get rid of 75% of the regulations. That is one that to me is a great regulation that should not be removed.

He has already tried to muzzle - the EPA

and appointed as secretary a guy who SUED the EPA multiple times. Trump is trying to undo 40 years of slow but steady improvement in environmental protection, putting all of us at risk of our health just to line his pockets and the pockets of his wealthy cabinet

My big question on the last paragraph is, was this really needed to protect the water supply? Or was it a way to put coal factories out of business?

We already have laws on the books to protect the rivers, why was this regulation necessary?

that it was about better protecting our streams and waterways, not to put coal business out of work, but that is my opinion. This link also explains that this rule requests removing a couple other previous rules that were perhaps outdated. As new things become available to us through modern technology, we do need to do away with the old and bring in the new so to speak, and I feel this rule did just that. Some feel this rule is to hurt coal miners, I feel it just better protects our planet. You had good questions and these are just my opinions. Your opinion may differ.

A veteran verified 100% incapable of handling his financial affairs and disabiled. He had to give up his guns even though he had no mental impairment, but was disabled because his Humvee was hit by an IED and his wife had to manage the financial aspects of their lives.

I don't know much about the coal regulation so I can't comment on that.

A while back president Obama proposed a small business hiring income tax credit. Since it still hasn't been voted on, I think small businesses might be holding off on hiring waiting for it to pass so they can take advantage of the credit. What do you all think?
