The Bureau of Labor Statistics

Posted: Oct 6, 2012

The head of the BLS is a nonpolitical position.  The commissioner serves a 4-year term.  The chief analyst from Moodys siad the recent job growth statistics are unambiguously solid, gains were broad across industries, job hours were up, as well as wage growth.   Other parts of the economy are also showing improvement including housing and retail  and consumer confidence.

I do not understand why Republicans are so quick to fall for every conspiracy theory that comes along.  Oh yes, I guess they decided not to help on the job growth planning committee, so it is all sour juice grapes now.  Jack Welch apparently needs some Namenda or something.

Correction: Two BLS employees are dems who - donate to their candidate's camp. Shocking!

BLS has 2500 employees. More than a few of them donate to political candidates and parties. The cons media has honed in on two? Big whoop. BLS has other employees who contribute to GOP causes. None of this has anything to do with this latest batch of foolishness.

Correction: Only 1 donated to Obama - The other quit last July -nm-

Bureau Chiefs Band Together For FoxOct 26, 2009
After the White House tried keeping got involved with Treasury's decision whether or not to allow Fox News in a round robin of interviews with "pay czar" Kenneth Feinberg, the five networks bureau chiefs banded together until Fox was permitted in. The joint action shows one of the difficulties if the administration tries to marginalize Fox, especially when that disrupts the network pool. (Fox's own report via Johnny Dollar). UPDATE: From what I hear, the situation was more between Tr ...

Scandal: Australian Bureau Of Meterology Caught Aug 08, 2017
Amazing, the power of the media. Suddenly, the Bureau of Meteorology needs to replace equipment and answer questions and set up an internal inquiry. But they’ve had weeks of warning. Lance Pidgeon and Jennifer Marohasy have been watching the automatic weather stations record very cold temperatures, and then astonished when those same readings either got entered into our national raw database as warmer, or simply disappeared. The BOM apparently has a filter set so that super cold temperatures n ...

GOP Wants To Weaken Child Labor LawsApr 10, 2011
under a new piece of legislation introduced in the state's House of Representatives, employers would be able to pay anyone under the age of 20 as little as $5.25 an hour for their first 180 days on the job. The bill, LD 1346, also eliminates the maximum number of hours a minor 16 years of age or older can work on a school day and allows a minor under the age of 16 to work up to four hours on a school day during hours when school is not in session. Labor Angry Over Obama Backed Insurance Tax Jan 13, 2010
I'm afraid Obama's ship is sinking. If no health care is passed, he sinks and by passing HC taxing the middle class, he sinks. WASHINGTON – Labor leaders are pushing hard on President Barack Obama and Senate Democrats to drop a proposed new tax on high-value health insurance plans, warning of political consequences. The White House has indicated the tax may change so it hits fewer workers — but it's not going away.A Monday evening meeting at the White House between Obam ...

Interesting Article On Labor Unrest In ChinaJun 07, 2010
Here's hoping it may spread to those companies in the rest of the world that work for slave wages doing work that should be done here; i.e., MT, toy manufacturing, etc. If they would also strike, walkout in protest, or the myriad other things they do, maybe some of the jobs will come back home. (I can hope, can't I?)   BEIJING -- China has been hit with a recent wave of labor unrest, including strikes and partial shutdowns of factories, underscoring what experts call one of the ...

Oh Dear, These Labor Numbers Are Simply Awful.Sep 07, 2012
- is that Obama had these numbers when he stood up and made his speech last night.  The POTUS is always advised of the numbers on the day before any significant labor (or other economic) numbers are released. So I think it's pretty fair, at this point, to call Obama an unmitigated, narcissistic liar to stand before the American people and beg for four more years when he had been given even more evidence than he already had that there is no justification on earth to give his failed pol ...

US Job Openings At Record High; Labor Market Aug 09, 2017
.S. job openings jumped to a record high in June, outpacing hiring, the latest indication that companies are having trouble finding qualified workers. The Labor Department said on Tuesday that job openings, a measure of labor demand, increased 461,000 to a seasonally adjusted 6.2 million. That was the highest level since the series started in December 2000 and pushed the jobs openings rate up two-tenths of a percentage point to a near one-year high of 4.0 percent. The monthly increase in ...

Last year, he received 1,051 applications and found only 25 people who were qualified. He hired all of them, but soon had to fire 15. Part of Isbister&rsq ...
