Census bureau

Posted: Jan 11, 2010

I am scheduled to take a test to be a census taker (is that the right phrase?) and wonder if anyone else has looked into this to supplement their income?  Mostly, I wonder what the test would be like and how to prepare for it.

Thanks!

My son is also doing this. - sm

He's hoping to help pay for college expenses. It sounds like a good temporary opportunity. I hope he gets a job.

Bureau Chiefs Band Together For FoxOct 26, 2009
After the White House tried keeping got involved with Treasury's decision whether or not to allow Fox News in a round robin of interviews with "pay czar" Kenneth Feinberg, the five networks bureau chiefs banded together until Fox was permitted in. The joint action shows one of the difficulties if the administration tries to marginalize Fox, especially when that disrupts the network pool. (Fox's own report via Johnny Dollar). UPDATE: From what I hear, the situation was more between Tr ...

The Bureau Of Labor StatisticsOct 06, 2012
The head of the BLS is a nonpolitical position.  The commissioner serves a 4-year term.  The chief analyst from Moodys siad the recent job growth statistics are unambiguously solid, gains were broad across industries, job hours were up, as well as wage growth.   Other parts of the economy are also showing improvement including housing and retail  and consumer confidence.  I do not understand why Republicans are so quick to fall for every conspiracy theory that come ...

Scandal: Australian Bureau Of Meterology Caught Aug 08, 2017
Amazing, the power of the media. Suddenly, the Bureau of Meteorology needs to replace equipment and answer questions and set up an internal inquiry. But they’ve had weeks of warning. Lance Pidgeon and Jennifer Marohasy have been watching the automatic weather stations record very cold temperatures, and then astonished when those same readings either got entered into our national raw database as warmer, or simply disappeared. The BOM apparently has a filter set so that super cold temperatures n ...

Has Anyone Noticed Yet On The CensusMar 27, 2010
It references throughout the form about people living at the residence on 4/1/10, which has not arrived yet, but they want the form right away.  How can we answer something for a date which has not happened yet.  It doesn't say "are going to be living here on this date", it says "were living here on this date".  So in all legality I cannot fill out this form til the date passes.   Just an observation ...

RNC 'census' Mailer Draws FireJan 26, 2010
DH received this in the mail. I filled it out for him and at the end where they asked for donations, put a zero in and wrote in big letters "Ha Ha!" Officials of both parties are sharply criticizing a fundraising mailing from Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele they say could be confused with official correspondence regarding this year’s census. The fundraising letter comes in the form of a “survey,” a frequently used device for partisan fundraising, but this ...

Tea Party Could Cost Republicans In CensusApr 06, 2010
By John ByrneMonday, April 5th, 2010 -- 9:00 am Republicans were thrilled when Tea Party-backed Scott Brown won a special election to capture Ted Kennedy's Senate seat in Massachusetts. But they're not quite as thrilled with the Tea Party now. Angst at the government in power may fuel some conservatives to boycott the US census, costing their party coveted seats in Congress for years to come. Republicans could also lose seats in state legislatures if districts are redrawn. The US po ...
