Swarm of teenagers caught on tape stealing from gas

BOSTON —About 20 teenagers mobbed a Roslindale gas station over the weekend, grabbing items from the convenience store before running out, authorities said. The group inside for about 10 seconds before they rush out again. A customer who was fueling his car presses himself up against his vehicle to avoid them. "This is the first time I've seen teenagers so young do this," Gloria Mantas said. "They were laughing. They were laughing. They thought it was fun." Video from a camera inside the shop shows the crowd raiding the ice cream cooler, candy racks and soda refrigerator. ;

Because that's pretty much what they have been doing on a case by case basis (driving while black or selling cigarettes while black or whatever) for much lesser crimes, and yet it has not made things better in any way.
I have no idea what motivated these boys, and they are definitely criminals. Like the owner said, I would also like to know what motivated them.
BUT it is not a firing line offense. The reasons they do that might be the same reason I go to the food bank once in a while. Can't afford nothing, maybe that's why? Maybe there's no food bank where they are? Maybe their parents are out working job after job to earn enough to even pay rent and they have no one at home to keep them in line?
If they thought they could get away with it, well they obviously didn't, and police will no doubt spend a lot of man hours bringing in young black males and trying to nail them for this.
If they don't have jobs, it might not be through lack of trying, we know how hard it is out there - for us, so imagine how hard it is for them. So what about a job program or two to get young people off the streets? Yeah, try getting something like that through this particular congress.
They also probably have a lot less hope than even our poor offspring trying to make it in this world when they see young men being shot down every day as they have been.
I definitely agree they are criminals, I definitely agree they should be punished, but the answer is not "law and order" while ignoring the root causes anymore. It has to be at least trying to figure out the root causes and stop them in their tracks. Equal opportunity, educational opportunity, employment opportunity. Lots of other factors too, and it costs money and it takes time, but beefing up police forces and executing young men on sight has not been working at all, so I hope we don't go down that road again.
While we're on the subject, am I the only one who has been robbed of at least 50% of my income over the past 8 years or so?
This robbery happened for no reason other than those at the top wanted more and wanted to take it away from us at the bottom doing a hard job and doing it well (I'm talking about MTs, in case those of you on here are not MTs - I have to wonder with some of the grammar and spelling I see lately, not that I would pick on particular posts because that's against the rules, but it is pretty obvious, even if you are in a rush, you don't do this for a living).
How about someone goes after those guys for stealing $20,000 a year from me? No? Why, that's business I guess, and Mr. Trump is the prime example of that.
I hope this kind of fear mongering doesn't work. Not denying I would have been scared in this gas station, not denying it would make me angry. I am just saying this "law and order" garbage does not sway me in the least because cracking down on young criminals like this does not fix the root problems and I know the right wing and Trump have no answers other than vague "law and order" calls and sanctioning these executions, which has to stop.
