The problem is that they are not millionaires so can't be a candidate. It's all about money, on either side. I too am the enemy but do look at the other side because they also have good ideas, but unfortunately money is the name of the game. Too bad the real politicians can't see that it's not about party but ideas to get this country going, and there are good ideas from both sides.

That's what's wrong with our current political system. - It eliminates many highly-qualified - sm

potential candidates from running for office because they don't have the good fortune to be millionaires. The system needs to be changed so that anyone who is qualified can run, and potentially win. Look at what we've got in office now, or in the running for office. It's obvious that the political gene-pool is showing the signs of inbreeding.

a 7.2 percent margin with 9,522,082 votes to spare, 355 electoral votes which was twice as many as McCain received, and after carrying 28 states plus the District of Columbia. He got there the old fashioned way through hard work, strong convictions, dedication and perseverance, starting out by working his way through school.

He did his undergraduate studies and Columbia University in political science and international relations. After graduation, he worked with church-based community organizations on jobs training, upward mobility through college prep and tutoring, and tenant advocacy programs, and as a consultant and instructor for a community organization institute. He exhibited distinguished leadership skills during his Harvard years, where he graduated magna cum laude.

In his early 30s, he became a published author, served as a teaching fellow, lecturer and senior lecturer in constitutional law, and directed voter registration drives. He practiced law in civil rights litigation and neighborhood economic development for a little over 10 years. By the time he was 36, he was elected to the Illinois State Senate, where he served for 7 years, then moved on to serve another 4 years as a US Senator. He gained national public recognition when he delivered the keynote speech at the 2004 Democratic Convention.

The campaign leading up to the 2008 election victory began with a close and contentious primary. His ultimate success is easily attributable to a brilliant campaign strategy, known for its meticulous long-range planning, superior fundraising with most of its proceeds coming from small donors, focus on caucus states, and maximized application of delegate allocation rules. It goes without saying he was the right person, in the right place at the right time with the right platform and the right plan.

When the biracial boy raised by a single mom on food stamps finally made it to the White House, even the opponent he had just defeated had the grace and style to recognize this accomplishment and acknowledge it as a historic moment for our country when he delivered his concession speech.

These are the simple facts of his life. They speak for themselves and require not one iota of spin.

If you want to believe that fine. Did you ever read about the election between Hillary and Obama? Machines that voted Hillary ended up going to Obama. Or what about Bush/Gore or Bush/Kerry. People that voted democrats vote went for the republican. There was even a case (unsure if it was an arrest) of someone they found hacked into the computer and changed the votes. There are hackers out there. The only true vote that can be counted is paper. Besides Fox can tell you anything they want.

As for the votes, no I don't trust those are true numbers (yes I know you want them to be, so that's okay). But he had the backing of the wealthiest people and was groomed for the position by the people in charge. Just a fact and I've come to accept that.

Along those same lines, GOP voter suppression agendas are out there in broad daylight for all to see as they wend their way through state legislatures, something just about every voting American can directly relate to and despise simultaneously.

Regardless of how much soap suds come out of your spin cycle, Obama's ascent as a biracial kid from a cash-strapped single parent household to the White House and the path he took to get there is a matter of historical fact that cannot be rewritten by cons who find themselves caught up in intractable denial over the shortcomings of their own agendas and leadership deficits, currently on public display in Congress and in the media coverage of the primary process.

This is the guy whoever comes out on top of that contest is going to face in the race. As near as I can tell, it's going to be pretty painful to watch Romney transition from failure to connect with his base to make-believe credible contender, or Santorum, who in some polls has more than a 20% deficit to overcome in a national contest against the president. Surely you must know the social engineering thing will do him in, without Obama's so much having to open his mouth on the subject.

Gotta wonder what the haters are going to do with all that negative energy and spare time after Obama is re-elected.

1. Fact: You don't know whether or not Obama will be reelected. Unless your rigging the thing so he will win. Nobody knows. Everyone thought Kerry would won. Everyone though Gore would won. Everyone was so adamant back then with the same exact statements of "I wonder what the *** will do once Gore is elected or the second election with Kerry". The arrogant attitudes trying to push across that every single person in the country will vote for him and of course he will win. Truth be told nobody will know until the election is over who wins.

2. I could say the same thing - Gotta wonder what the haters are going to do with all that negative energy and spare time after Romney is elected. See it goes both ways. And my statement is more true. Just look at the posts on this board. Read the internet when trying to find some information. It's hatred of the purest form towards any republican. Hating republicans has become a favorite hobby of the left wingers. The plain and simple truth is nobody know who will win. If there was an election today Romney would win. Did ya see the articles? Take off the blindfolds people and get your fingers out of your ears and stop chanting I am not listening to you, I don't hear you, la la la la la la la la I cannot hear you please go away la la la la la. This is not going to be a dunk and slam win for your guy. He is going to have to answer some hard questions and be held responsible for his actions. He is going to be in some heated debates.

And please spare us with the fear mongering "I fear for his life" line. Heard that last election and nothing happened. They tried that fear mongering trick last election and it didn't work, what makes you think it will work this time. I fear for his life...give me a break. And the only person who ever talked of the "a" word was Hillary when she was trying to get people to vote for her cos if they voted for Obama, "well you remember what happened to JFK". And I could say the same for the republican candidate..."I hope he has body guards because I fear for his life" Those kind of scare tactics are best left for the movies.

So, let me repeat one more time. Nobody is going to do anything to Obama. I reassure you he is perfectly safe. There are pretty crazy people on all sides of the isle. I've seen them on the democrats side too (remember Gabby and what the crazy guy did to her). Remember Hinkley or the Georgia incident or the van of men who tried to get at Bush. There are just crazy people but the pitiful abortion doctor and Jesus told them to do it line is so lame. Wouldn't even make it in the movies.

Here is what is so very ironic about your statements: Didn't Hannity or some other right-wing mouth piece recently come out with a video with (OMG!)the college-age President Obama hugging a professor? What I gleaned from this horribly scandalous video, is that President Obama was Obama back then. He hasn't changed hardly changed at all (especially not like Romney who changes about every 14 minutes or so). So, when was he groomed? I certainly would not fault him if he had set aspirations back then to be President. After all, should not every child in the US have the chance to become president? Which also brings to mind the grooming of Sarah Palin, and the utter failure of that attempt. Thank you for your post.

I myself have changed my opinions on many issues. I can remember ideas shared on this board years ago when Bush was president. I believed one thing, then posters would post things and I would research it and I changed my mind on many issues (mostly social), but kept my conservative viewpoints on issues like foreign affairs, military, economy, etc. There used to be some very good posters and conversations were decent. Then came the election between Obama and Hillary and it started getting nasty (mostly towards Hillary), then when it was finalized the two candidates running it got downright horrible. Name calling, okay for one group to portray the candidate they didn't like hanging from a noose over a fireplace, but not okay to portray the other one hanging. It just got really bad. I still hold on to some liberal issues I agree with but mostly I agree with the conservatives. Guess I've lived too many years under a democrat rule and it's never good for any of us (and I'm included in the low income crowd).

I was watching a movie the other night when a kid told some arrogant guy. "I couldn't think as slow as you if I tried". Reading many of the liberal posts on this board that's exactly how I feel.

Years ago I was offered a 1-year scholarship at a very elite private college. I did not take it because I did not have any family support and was very cautious about taking risks, and felt very uncomfortable around "rich people." I am happy with the choice I made. More recently, I have 1 niece and 3 nephews who have been offered/and or completed college on 4-year scholarships for athletics and academics. Obviously, President Obama showed great leadership and intelligence and moved to the head of the pack. Those conspiracy theories are, well, you know what they are.

Do some research about their family. Scholarships? Yeah, right. You were offered a scholarship but didn't take it because you were "uncomfortable around "rich people"". Okay, sure.

If you want to believe he has "great leadership" and "intelligence" well okay. I do believe that falls into those conspiracy theories you talk about. Obviously, you have not research who his family is and who put him in the seat he is in.

Why so cryptic? If you know so much - why not spill the beans?

Your quotes around my statement and the snarky, okay sure, say so much about you. You obviously do not understand that when you are poor, transportation, clothes (like say a winter coat with a zipper that works) and even dental work are hardships when you are relying on scolarships to go to school. I opted to attend a public college (on scholarship) because I was lucky enough to have great friends who cared about me and helped me with things like getting to school, moving, inviting me into their homes for holiday breaks, etc. I wonder if the private school kids whose daddies were the presidents of airlines would have helped me out like that? When you hear the phrase "It takes a village to raise a child," perhaps you should think about that, as much as all that time you spend reading hoaky conspiracy theories. It might be a better use of your time.
As does yours, and it's all good. - sm

From what I can gather from your posts, you started making sound and wise decisions from an early age and had a good sense of priorities, purpose and direction, not all that common in a recent high school graduate. Being offered several scholarships results from much hard work and diligence. Your rhetorical question shows keen insight as well. I doubt the OP has an answer for it.

Clearly, you lacked any sense of entitlement that posters on this board so often accuse the disadvantaged of passing from one generation to the next. Having come from wealth, my experience growing up among them taught me that the opposite is closer to the truth. With a few exceptions (my dad was one), it seemed the richer they were, the more entitled they felt. I went to private elementary and secondary schools. For as far back as I can remember, the snoot factor was something I could not abide. I think it would have been even worse at a college level. Thank goodnes I hever had to find out. I too am happy with my decision to bolt as soon a I had diploma in hand, with my dad's blessing, whose black sheep gene I inherited.

Anyone who deigns to post the TRUTH about the "messiah" gets lambasted by his sycophants on this board -- EVERY time.

They aren't interested in FACTS or TRUTH, only slobbering worship of him.

Go to ANY political forum online of EITHER persuasion -- not only Freeper or Breitbart but even lefty sites like the Daily Kos and HuffPo -- and you will find more intelligent, rational, rational, and openminded folks than you will EVER find here. That is why I describe the Poli board here as a bunch of 3rd graders attempting to discuss string theory. They are in waaaay over their head, and it's downright laughable! But it makes for great comic relief.

"Don't cast your pearls before swine" would have been a much more succinct way to make my point. :)

I don't understand why certain people don't want to know the truth? Won't take the time out to research and find the truth. Can't tell you how many times I voted for a candidate to find out everything I thought, everything they said to get elected was a lie. Can't even remember how many times I've said I was wrong about an issue. But the minute you post anything that doesn't fall in sync with what they want to believe you're called a loon or conspiracy theorist, or all sorts of names. I don't understand why it is so hard for people to understand that politicians do deceive people. There is so much manipulation behind the scenes its scary sometimes. Sometimes the weirdest things end up being the truth.

Your assessment is right on about the 3rd graders attempting to discuss string theory. Had to laugh at that one. Reminded me of a comedian I heard talking about string theory.

Some is laughable, others I read the posts and think...do they really think this way. Just gives me a headache to try and understand why they think the way they do. Why don't they seek out whatever it takes to find the truth or do they just sit with their heads in the sand waiting for someone to tell them what to think and do.

done by a video journalist in Mississippi. Random people around town trying to explain their political leanings. Worth checking out BTW. It helped me understand why I do not understand how other people form their opinions of things. One man was asked why he did not like Obama, his answer was really a nonanswer, almost "just because", when asked if it was because he was black, he said no, he turned his head, then said "half breed" with a snarl on his face. I think this makes the case for striving for better education in this country rather than calling Obama a snob for wanting people to go to college and expand their knowledge base.

an "ideal" America.

Romney wants to kill the American Dream of home ownership and have foreclosures so that "investors" can purchase all those homes and "put renters in."

Combined with all the other things the GOP pols have come right out and admitted, it's fairly easy to see that the rich insist on getting richer, and that the GOP is 100% behind that, instead of trying to stop the foreclosures with fair reapplication of the mortgage.

Once again, the rich steal from the poor and not only get richer QUIETLY for doing so but the GOP has publicly advocated this abhorrent type of behavior.

We're well on our way to being a third world country, and I doubt that the Republicans who defend their party no matter what they say or do won't be among the chosen of the GOP but will instead be down here with all of us Americans who were once in the middle class but now find themselves clearly in the lower class, and low class is clearly visible on this board. I'd cry a tear, but I'm about to retch.

How can people be so brainwashed. Why can't they decipher when they are being fed a line of absolute complete lies.

You do realize that all these rich people you hate are getting rich under the democrats in charge. They have Obama in their pockets and he is making them more and more rich. Why do you think they all support him. The uber rich are not about to give up their riches and so are pouring millions into his campaign to keep him in. So you think Romney wants to kill the American Dream of Home Ownership. Sweetie the American dream of owning a home is already dead. We have yours truly and this administration to thank for that. It's getting worse and worse each day. This administration is doing nothing to help the American dream.

I do agree we are on our way to being a third world country. At the hands of the democrats who wish it this way. The words of Hillary and the actions of the administration.

The only way this country is going to survive is a change of power. The democrats have run the country into the ground long enough. Time to give the republicans a chance. It will be a long battle to get us out of the ditch, but with time we can do it. Of course they won't be able to fix everything overnight, but at least they have the know how and will to make the country a better place.

Combined with all the other things that Obama has lied about, it's fairly easy to see that the rich insist on getting richer, and that the Dems are 100% behind that, instead of trying to stop the spending, reign in the debt, and kill Dodd-Frank to give home owners a fighting change with fair reapplication of the mortgage.

Once again, the rich steal from the poor and not only get richer QUIETLY for doing so but the Obaman and the Dems have publicly advocated this abhorrent type of behavior and supported it with multiple measurse and bills, designed to line their own pockets and incite class war.

We're well on our way to being a third world country thanks to Obama and the Dems, and I doubt that the Dems, who defend their party no matter what they say or do, won't be among the chosen of the Dems, but will instead be down here with all of us Americans who were once in the middle class but now find themselves clearly in the lower class, and low class is clearly visible on this board. Who are the Dems going to demonizde and hate when they find out that their "party" is against them, too?

Please read up on Obama and his destructive policies and ties to Soros.

See how easy that was....just sayin'

"OBAMA "wants to kill the American Dream of home ownership and have foreclosures so that "investors" can purchase all those homes and "put renters in."

The FACT is that Mitt Romney made that statement, NOT Obama. Obama is trying to help homeowners keep their homes instead of selling them off for cheap to the richest of the rich.

You need to check your facts. This is the reason there are so many FALSE rumors coming from the red team.

Romney's own words below, as well as a TAPE for those who want to keep this lie going. Perhaps they might think twice.

MITT ROMNEY, Republican presidential candidate: Don't try and stop the foreclosure process. Let it run its course and hit the bottom. Allow investors to buy homes. Put renters in them. Fix the homes up and let it turn around and come back up.

Obama policies have done NOTHING to improve home ownership; quite the contrary. His lack of sensible financial policies includes Dodd-Frank, limitless taxpayer money to Freddie and Fannie with no accountable to name two. Go to your local bank, small and large, and ask what devastating effects Obama has had on home ownership, the impact Obama policies/regs have on bank's abilities to loan for home ownership. Noticed you you conveniently left out that Romney had also promoted going directly to the bank, before things spun out of control, and speaking with a loan officer to get the situation under control early on, instead of letting it reach a crisis point.

If you actually bothered to do any comprehensive research (and no, I'm not wasting my time on your useless link), you would understand that Romney's solution would have ended this mess a long time ago with these underwater mortgages and people buying homes they simply cannot afford. Due to people being in homes they simply cannot afford, bringing down the neighborhoods they are in, decreasing home property values, impacting the local economy, affects EVERYONE. There is an extremely high percentage of those people that Obama "claims" he is helping, that default within 6 months (and a substantial percentage within 90 days), on the refi/reduced mortgages, keeping the decline in propery spiraling downward. Not to mention, those playing their mortgages on time are further burdeded with additional bank fees to bail out those that over bought. If you had ANY understanding of the housing market, the damage it does when people buy homes with no money down or homes they cannot afford and should not be in, and the impact on the economy, you would understand that Obama's policy prolongs the bleeding and the inevitable and Romney actually fixes the problem.

Not every single person is cut out to be a homeowner regardless of what Dems scream from the roof tops. But, if you and the Dems want to "keep the lie going", those of us that understand finances and the market, will have to confront you every time that lie is told. :)
