squawkbox if Billy D. Clinton had cohosted a fundraiser with some doughbag who was well known for claiming the president of the United States (in this case Daddy Bush) was not born in the U.S. and therefore illegitimate?

Who are you talking about?

This hypothetical question is - pointless

due to the fact that there was no question of Bush's eligibility for the presidency...at least not that I am aware of. In my opinion, there are still some sketchy circumstances in Obama's past in regards to his eligibility.

I disagree. The Iowa GOP is trying to include birtherism - in their party platform

much to the dismay of more moderate pubs who want to distance themselves from it as much as possible. The OP alludes to this topic and to other hotly contested elements of campaign politics such as the liberal/progressive idea of corruption of big money in the democratic process as well as the conservative GOPs self-inflicted conundrum of using guilt-by-association to undermine a candidate's credibility or attack their belief systems. In his never-ending kowtowing to the GOPs severe conservative wing, Romney has chosen to appeal to the Donald's extremist base by engaging in fundraising events in the presence of Trump's purse-lipped rug-topped mug. My sister, who is a sensible GOP centrist, is cringing in the corner over this development as we speak.

The OP has used rhetorical inquiry to bring up these subjects to make a point without the expectation of a direct specific answer, but rather with the intent to spark debate. Your response is typical of ones often encountered on this forum, where time after time cons attempt to highjack every discussion about GOP candidates, policies or behaviors by unsuccessfully attempting to make all things political about President Obama. Birtherism is not about anything more than the insanity that arises out of GOP fringe extremism. Regardless of how hard they try to sidestep this issue and its destructive consequences, they OWN that issue and should be prepared to defend it in credible ways (or reject it outright as the case may be) whenever it comes up. They can't, so they don't. All they can do is come up with flimsy innuendo and wildly unfounded accusations and try their best to throw the coversation off topic, your post being a prime example as such.

brava - : )

yet completely ignore that the Supreme Court felt Obama's birth records and subsequent lies were significant to put THAT on their schedules. Since Lame Street Media won't cover and they won't hear it on Madcow or Media Matters won't cover, they sweep that little tidbit under the rug.

Shows you how deep the lib denial is on all matters Obama.

ODD - Anyone With A Child With This? Does This Sound Like It?Nov 09, 2009
My 12-year-old son argues with me about EVERYTHING.  He is now saying that he wants to not go to college and live in a van. I told him fine, that is his decision when he is 18.  He kept on with it because he wanted me to argue with him. I told him at this point when he is 12 there is no reason for me to argue about something like that...he kept on and on and on. It really bothers Melissa and she cries because Jake and I end up in debates/arguments almost every day and they are lasting ...

Jared Lee Loughner, the alleged shooter of Representative Gabrielle Giffords and others on Saturday, may have ties to anti-Semitic, anti-immigration hate group American Renaissance, according to a leaked memo from the Department of Homeland Security. It's unclear whether Loughner maintains a direct connection to the group, however, "strong suspicion is being directed" at American Renaissance in the wake of the group being referenced in Loughner's Myspace and YouTube videos, accor ...

Some Of You Sound More Intelligent ThanMar 10, 2012
the rep candidates.   While I agree with little of what you say, other than the cheap shots towards libs/dem that distract and detract that are mixed in, some of you seem to know way more, and possibly care way more, about what's going on than any of the current repub candidates.   There is some wasted talent here.   Get off this board and run for office, and I mean that sincerely.  I, myself, would probably not vote for you because I am "the enemy" as it feels on this f ...

Severe Shoulder Pain, Does This Sound Like SomethingNov 13, 2012
anyone else has heard of or perhaps had, needing some input. I know we are not doctors but we hear and type so much that someone might have heard of similar. This past weekend I went to the ER with left shoulder/left upper arm pain. This pain has now been here 2 weeks. No arthritis, nothing else diagnosed except have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia in the past although this is 1 spot. I had EKGs, x-rays, have been given Flexeril, anti-inflammatories, Medrol Dose-Pak, pain pills, have been to P ...

The New Republicans Go By Bumper Sticker And 10-sec Sound Bites But No FactsOct 27, 2015
These new extremist Republicans don't use facts. They shout, turn red in the face, get angry, and avoid facts, because the facts don't agree with their agenda. If it can't fit on a bumper sticker, the new Republican party can't understand it. If it doesn't fit in a 10-second sound byte on TV, the new Republican party can't deal with it, because they don't deal with thoughtful understanding of the issues. I seriously long for the old Republican statesmen who ...
