Republican senators violate the Constitution

Posted: Mar 6, 2014

Good bye 6th amendment.  Do you believe in the right to a speedy trial?  Is an impartial jury a right?

How about the right to be represented by counsel?  What would you say when a Justice Department appointee is blocked from senate confirmation because they followed the constitution and defended a client?

The hypocrisy of the Republicans knows no bounds.

This was talked about yesterday. We thanked your Democrat Senators. - See link inside.

It was stated on this forum that the Democrats did a very good thing, finally!!!

Obama called this a "travesty." - We call it victory!

This man should be run out of town on a rail!

45 Republicans vote to take away rights - And pubs call it a victory

[ In Reply To ..]
The Republicans have absolutely no right to claim the moral high ground on the constitution. They have no idea what the constitution is, what it means and the purpose. Sickening.
so true - sm

It's just a partisan pile-on. They know not what they're talking about. Pitiful lot.

and well deserved - thanks Democrats. - nm

Do you have any idea what Adegbile did? - sm

Thank God the Democrat senators stood shoulder to shoulder with the Republicans for once AGAINST this man some call president.

do YOU have any idea what John Adams did? - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
John Adams defended British troops in the Boston Massacre. Link provided for your edification. If you give a hoot about the constitution, you would understand.

Is that the same Constitution your President Obama - thumbs his nose at?

[ In Reply To ..]
Sorry, I rest my case on this one. No contradictions allowed!
yes, as a matter of fact - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Why yes, that would be the same constitution. Please review before making barren comments about the president, John Adams, due process, and the like.
That OBAMA thumbs his nose at? - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
You're confusing Obama with W. W's the only president on record, in my memory, to say that the Constitution is "nothing but a (insert swear word here) piece of paper."

And he routinely thumbed his nose at the Constitution during his presidency.

Yes, but John Adams - didn't

organize rallies, proclaim the british officers' innocence, or claim racism during his defense. And while these officers obviously did what they were charged for, they also could claim they were following the orders of their King. Under the constitution, everyone is entitled to legal defense, but what Adegbile did was way above and beyond what was legally required. Add to it the fact that this man not only admitted to the shooting, but bragged about it. This is like comparing apples to hamburgers - the cases are just too different.
I think you'd be wrong about that... - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
There were annual commemorations of the Boston Massacre from 1771-1783 in which orations were presented. Kind of like a rally.

Umm, John Adams DID, in FACT, proclaim the innocence of those he defended. That's how 6 were acquitted.

There was NO ORDER to fire, so you're wrong about that, too.

Finally, racism, DID, indeed, come up in his argument: "Adams told the jury to look beyond the fact the soldiers were British. He argued that if the soldiers were endangered by the mob, which he called "a motley rabble of saucy boys, negroes, and molattoes, Irish teagues and outlandish jack tarrs [i.e. sailors]", they had the legal right to fight back, and so were innocent."
Not quite - like that..
[ In Reply To ..]
The commemorations were in support of those who chose to fight back against the British, not to rally support for them.

John Adams never proclaimed innocence - no one ever claimed that they didn't shoot, but those 6 were only acquitted because there was no proof that they actually fired their weapons.

The soldiers believed there was an order to fire and there was actually testimony from those who said they thought they heard an order to fire - it was all mass confusion and chaos, not a one-on-one situation.

And what I meant by not bringing racism into the defense was that John Adams never claimed that they were being persecuted only because they were British.

I do know my history very well and again I say this is like comparing apples to hamburgers - not even close to being the same.

So, using your own statement, if Democrats block the - Truthhurts

nomination of a judge, an attorney, etc., they are violating the Constitution?

C'mon, now.Let's be real here. No one violated the Constitution. They voted. He was blocked.

There is not much research on this man because the MSM does not want the "nasty" things to come out about this man. He's no knight in shining armor.

Besides defending the cop killer who, during the trial, had no remorse for what he did and even smirked at his wife when the prosecutor was hammering out the details of the killing, Instead of allowing Maureen Faulkner to grieve in peace, a group of political opportunists fabricated claims of racism, spread lies about the case, and organized rallies that, amazingly, portrayed Abu-Jamal as the victim. Soon Abu-Jamal was a cause célebrè, complete with adoration from Hollywood celebrities and a street named after him in France. Adegbile was at the head of these protests even to the point where he was the one who went to France to gather support for Abu-Jamal.

He also:
1. Adegbile filed on behalf of the “Black Student Alliance” arguing that a white applicant was properly denied admission to the University of Texas Law School because she was white.

2. He twice defended the Voting Rights Act in the Supreme Court. One of those two cases related to Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act, the provision which gave the federal government the power to oversee elections in 15 states, a power it abused, and a power the Supreme Court terminated in June 2013.

3. While at the NAACP, Adegbile authored a brief to strip members of the Hosanna Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church of the right to practice their faith and appoint ministers of the church as they saw fit. Adegbile argued to the U.S. Supreme Court that Christian churches should not continue to enjoy the same constitutional protections of the “ministerial exception,” as churches had for centuries. Instead, he held that the government should have a say in who could be a minister of a Christian church.

4. Adegbile participated in a panel at a Yale Law School conference titled “The Constitution in 2020.” The event—whose goal was to lay out a blueprint for the evolution of a new, “progressive” U.S. Constitution within 15 years—was sponsored by George Soros’s Open Society Institute and the Center for American Progress.

This man is unfit to lead the Civil Rights Division because of his racism, just like Holder is unfit to hold the position of AG. I could post more of his hatred for certain people and laws but I think I've posted enough for now.

But have faith. It's not over. Harry Reid CHANGED his vote from YEA to NAY because I don't doubt that he's going to try again. So, who's really being less than honest? That's what I call skirting the Constitution by a not-so-honest vote.

#4 says it all for me. They are hell bent on changing America - to Soros' vision of a NWO.

I am at a complete loss as to why the Democrats can't or won't realize this. How much clearer could it be? These insidious and circumventing methods to try to squeeze it in a little at a time are so clearly obvious. I pray this guy goes away quietly.
