President Obama releases birth certificate!

Posted: Apr 27, 2011

What will the birthers say now?  President Obama to brief press at 9:45 am.

;

duh - no1joe

[ In Reply To ..]
That's what they should say. However, I have a funny feeling they won't and just come up with some silly excuse to question the authenticity of the document and keep this stupid conspiracy issue alive.

You are right, they are already at it - RadMT

[ In Reply To ..]
Already claiming it is forged, a fake. That is the main reason he did not want to release it; he knows there are some who will NEVER accept him as the legitimate President no matter what. Trump now says he will have experts examine it. Just a day ago, he claimed on CNN that "somebody" told him the birth certificate did not exist. No apologies to the President. In fact, he is congratulating himself for forcing the President to release it. Very sad.

What is SAD is that he had to be FORCED - to release it. Now he

[ In Reply To ..]
just looks silly.
You are right, it is sad - RadMT
[ In Reply To ..]
Because they are already rejecting it, claiming it a forgery/fake. No matter what he shows them, it will never be enough.

It is also sad that Trump has allowed himself to be duped by those around him who gave him false information. Just yesterday, he clamed "somebody" told him there was no birth certificate. He now has no credibility and I question his judgment in so easily being fooled this way.
I have not heard anyone reject it. He released - it now because of the
[ In Reply To ..]
campaign. I thought he would; I actually thought it would be later than this. His "advisors" must be really afraid of the mood of the country.

I think to most independents and conservative Democrats wo voted the other way in the midterms...he just comes off really silly and immature for stonewalling for so long and spending his only money to avoid it. Not to mention desperate.

And that holier-than-thou press conference....that was just sad.

Making fun of "birthers" has never done him any good, yet he...and his followers...persist. If he thinks that is going to bring Independents back to him, he is wrong. "Birthers" vote too and they certainly are not going to vote for him.

Anyone who respects the Constitution and wants the deficit dealt with in a real manner should NOT vote for him, because voting for him is voting for NO CHANGE that we can believe in.

They messed up by releasing it now pcuntuating it with an in your face press conference. Arrogance, crowing and name calling is never pretty...especially by the President of the United States from his bully pulpit.

I agree with other post I saw...I didn't think I could actually think less of him today than I did yesterday...but surprise surprise. I do.
Let me get this straight... - no1joe
[ In Reply To ..]
After all the yelling and screaming on this site alone by people asking "why won't he just show the BC and get it over with?" now that he shows it, you take issue with the timing? Huh? He shows it, like has been demanded, and you think less of him for complying? Is the whole BC release issue another conspiracy... cooked up years ago to not release it until now to help with the 2012 campaign? Really?

And not for nothing, if you see the President's speech as arrogance and name calling from a bully pulpit, many see it as putting the lid on ridiculousness. Those who see themselves as part of the ridiculous crowd... not the President's or anyone else's problem but their own. It's time to move on to issues of substance rather than the delusions of the squeakiest wheels who have hijacked public debate as of late to feed their own paranoia. Enough. The birther issue is over.
This is not about the birther issue...I know - that is where you have been
[ In Reply To ..]
instructed to focus and it is not surprising that you would not put two and two together. Your bias won't let you.

The many who see it as putting a lid on the ridiculousness are the same ones who raised the birther issue on this board over and over and over just so they could attack "birthers." It is your side that revived the issue here, long before Trump ever started.

I don't think it was cooked up long ago...I think it happened recently, regarding "when" it would be released. However, when Trump got into it, his money can match Obama's and they got rattled, and thought it would look better if he "voluntarily" released it, which he should have done when it was first asked. Now he just looks silly for ever having stonewalled in the first place.

Nothing has changed, really. You all were making fun of birthers yesterday and you are making fun of them today.

Okay, let's talk about the deficit. Let's talk about the assault on the Constititution. Lets talk about the lies he has told the American public...let's see...lobbyists will not be welcome in my administration. You want a list of the lobbyists in his administration? I will have the most transparent administration in history. Now THAT is a whopper. Let's look at a 3-trillion budget when we are 15 trillion in the hole. Let's look at policies devaluing the dollar worldwide. That would be a good one. Maybe then we could talk about how he was going to review all programs and cut the ones that were not working. Zip, zilch, nada on that front.

I don't blame you for wanting to focus on the birther issue. It is certainly small potatoes compared to the above.

THOSE are the reasons he needs to be sent home to Chicago...NOT the birther issue.
Amen, sister! President cannot win with some - RadMT
[ In Reply To ..]
Not only are the complaints with WHAT he does, but HOW he does it, WHEN he does it, and WHY he does it. He gets it coming and going and just standing still.

P.S. My apologies if you are a guy and I have called you sister :-)
Why not address the real issues that you - have been asked about?
[ In Reply To ..]
and by the way...the President brought all this on himself. If he had done 2 years ago what he did today....he made the bed, now he has to lay in it. lol.
I am female - no1joe
[ In Reply To ..]
and my birth certificate proves it... or does it? Hmmmmm... lol
I saw the press conference as the President - RadMT
[ In Reply To ..]
Calling out the Press. The birthers have absolutely every right to proclaim whatever they wish. But the Press has a responsibility to investigate and report responsibly. If they had done that 2-3 years ago, we would not be having this discussion today. The President released his official short form BC 3 years ago thinking that would answer the questions. It mostly did until Trump recently took this conspiracy mainstream.

I hope Trump is man enough to come out and set the record straight once he has a chance to review the document and verify its authenticity. He has made some reckless accusations that he now must reconcile with the facts.
I saw the press conference too. All that was - missing was sticking out
[ In Reply To ..]
his tongue at the American people. I really don't appreciate that, nor do I appreciate being made fun of by liberals/Democrats/Progressives AND by my President for having a legitimate concern about honesty and transparency in government. He could have avoided all that had be just released the long form to begin with. People on this board kept telling me not everyone had a long form. Well, at least I was proven right on that. Everyone born in a US hospital has a long form.

He brought all this on himself. I don't feel a bit sorry for him. He could have ended this 2 years ago and it is not up to the press OR Donald Trump to FORCE him to be honest. He should have done that himself in the beginning.

Like others, I did not think I could think less of him or trust him less than I did yesterday...I was wrong.
His arrogance today is what got me. - He blamed everyone
[ In Reply To ..]
but himself and he could have easily put this matter to rest a long time ago just by showing the long form. Seriously...how hard is it for the President of the United States to get a long form BC?
I offered to loan him the $15 but he never - got back to me. LOL. nm

In my opinion he is one of the best - He is an honorable man

[ In Reply To ..]
An intelligent man, and a real leader. I accept there is nothing that would make people like you vote for the man, but I don't see why the extreme conspiracy theories and so forth. You know, I liked Bush, but did not like his presidency. Somehow it would just kill the baggers and birthers to admit anything good about the president - like it or not, he IS your president!
He is NOT honorable. Honorable would have - been making good on
[ In Reply To ..]
his promises of transparency. Honorable would have been to provide this document 2 years ago. Honorable is not deciding which US Laws to defend and which ones not to. Honorable is not assaulting our Constitution.

This man is anything but honorable. There was no conspiracy theory. You need to drop that old chestnut. All along we said he had a long form, just would not release it. Now he has released it...it existed all the time, as we said it did. He just refused to produce it until now. THAT is not honorable.

Yes, he is my President. No doubt about it. Not happy about it in any way, shape or form...but he is. And I am going to work very hard to see that is NOT my President next term.
What Obama is ..is incompetent, weak, and the worst - leader in my 50 years on earth.
[ In Reply To ..]
Yes, he is my president, and I am ashamed that he is. We need desperately to get him out and turn this country around. He has divided and trashed the USA.
A vote - mbmt
[ In Reply To ..]
I see Obama like you do, an intelligent man and a real leader. I'm voting for Obama in 2012.
People who repeat the same mistakes - are doomed to fail.
[ In Reply To ..]
did you catch him on Oprah after his speech about we don\'t have time for silliness and there are more important things to discuss?

Seriously?? Really?? A real leader?????

It was never about where he was born to me... - Indy

[ In Reply To ..]
he had the job. Beating that dead horse was useless. However, it WAS about stonewalling. The ONLY reason he released it now is he is in re-election mode and he knows he is in trouble. Whatever miniscule respect I had left for the man is gone. He showed no respect for the American people by withholding it all this time. Nothing like having a press conference to go nanny nanny boo-boo like a junior high school kid. All that was missing was sticking his tongue out. LOL.

If he was not in such dire straits regarding re-election he would still be stonewalling and flexing his power muscles. Glad he did it though. Now maybe we can concentrate on his real problems...ignoring the Constitution and the deficit.

With all due respect, this just cemented for me a straight Republican ticket in 2012. This mini-dictator needs to be gone and his power base weakened, back to Chicago and he can dictate there with the Daleys.

Oh, come now, you were already straight Republican - RadMT

[ In Reply To ..]
Judging by your other comments, I cannot imagine you were considering voting for democrats.

But congratulations! It appears the republicans may have a real winner with Trump. He is patting himself on the back endlessly for in his words "accomplishing what no one else could" in getting President Obama to release the BC.

Now he wants to see his college transcripts.

What about his immunization records? - Did he get a flu shot?

[ In Reply To ..]
What's next?

Was not straight Republican. I have voted for - Democrats many times.

[ In Reply To ..]
Was raised in a Democrat household, both parents Democrats. Live in the only democrat county in a very red state. However...not liking the way I have seen the Democratic party going hard left in recent years. Not thrilled with the Republicans either, but at least they realize we are in a fiscal crisis, which is more than I can say for the President.

My issue with President Obama is not the BC issue, but the stonewalling of citizens who asked to see it, when he promised themost transparent administration in history. Showed me right away he is not to be trusted. Then came Obamacare. A majority of people did not want it. They pushed it through anyway so he could run on it for re-election. That didn't work out too well. They are hardly talking about it now are they? Then came the repeated assaults on the Constitution.

Those are the reasons why I would not vote for his re-election. The only reason for the straight ticket is to take away the power the Democrats enjoy in the senate to stop anymore harmful legislation. The people in charge need to understand the crisis we are in, and the Democrats have not demonstrated that they have a clue...or they are in the deepest denial known to man. Either way, they need to go.

Trump is right...that is what you fail to see. He is a smart man. They took the bait.

Then came the silly, silly, in-your-face press conference.

They played right into Trump's hands. Got him to release it now instead of way into the campaign. I don't think Trump is really going to run. He is just going to be the irritating fly constantly pushing through the whole thing...so the Republicans can stay above all the crud that the Democrats are handing out (the endless name calling and belittling).

It is an amazing thing to watch. For the first time, instead of being the manipulators, Obama and his admin have been manipulated. Along with their followers.

:)
Again, I congratulate you and the republicans - RadMT
[ In Reply To ..]
It seems you have a winner with Donald Trump. I hope he runs.
It doesn't matter to me who runs. I will be - voting against Obama.
[ In Reply To ..]
all this little dog and pony show today did is further solidify that.

I guess you don't want to talk about transparency in government, broken promises, assault on the Constitution, etc. You just want to talk about the birth certificate. I see. Gotcha.

Your forgot about the part where Hawaii is not a state. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Didn't you read your talking points memo this morning?

You obviously read yours!! Chip off the old - Dem block. LOL.

[ In Reply To ..]
Want to talk about a real issue? Your guy's assault on the Constitution? How about a 3 trillion bubdget when we are 14-15 trillion in the hole? How about those things.

No wonder you want to focus attention on the birther issue.

And you wonder why I don't want Democrats in control anymore (and I am not alone). LOL.

Nobody ever said Hawaii was not a state - see message

[ In Reply To ..]
duh. Keeping this issue alive at this point does nothing but make anyone perpetuating it or falling for it look foolish. Scared spitless or not, not releasing it at this point would have worked to the President's advantage. Duh fits.
There you go again with the condescending - prattle, Joe...
[ In Reply To ..]
I am not interested in keeping the birther issue alive, never was. That was your side of the house ad nauseam. Merely stating facts. I agree; I said wayyyy down the thread I thought he would release it, and I did, I just thought it would be much later in the campaign...hence the desperation. They know he has enough problems without having to deal with the BC issue. And all he looks now is darned SILLY for stonewalling all this time.

And that press conference...OMG. That looked like a 13-year-old going na-na-na-na. Not a President of the United States. Yes, I agree...duh fits, Mr. President.

I think he thought he was going to deliver the coup de grace, and all it did was fall flat. Not helped by all the birther slamming on this board and in the media.

Like OP said, Trump laid the trap, opened the door, and the "advisors" pushed Obama right through it.

Score 1 for the defeat Obama in 2012 team!

In your usual condescending and dismissive way. Is there a liberal class for that? LOL.

The only thing Obama proved to me is that - he is even more

[ In Reply To ..]
arrogant than I originally thought...and that is amazing really. I've never seen a president lecture Americans on coming together and then turn around in the very same speech and point fingers and ridicule the opposing party. Talk about hypocritical.

I'll agree that there are much more important things at hand right now; however, I'm pretty sure Obama was talking about his vacations, golfing, and basketball games when he mentioned more important things.

[ In Reply To ..]
You gotta love that he is being forced to finally show it.

When someone wants to know the truth you call them fools? Shame, shame, shame.

Look, it all boils down to this. People wanted him to show his bc. He never did. What is so wrong with wanting to know whether the leader of the country was even born here.

He could have stopped this from the beginning and showed it when it was required instead of paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to hide it and cover it up.

A fool is anyone who doesn't question something that is so obviously wrong and will just drink the Kool-Aid and continue to chant the same thing over and over without knowing the truth.

What you gotta love is he got caught red handed and the whole country knows this.

You must be dizzy from spinning and leaping so much. - ROFLMAO

Why can't you birthers just admit that you were wrong?
Why can't you koolaid drinkers admit you - drink the koolaid? You first.

ROFLMAO - see message
[ In Reply To ..]
There is nothing to admit. What you still don't get (and never will) is the laws of the country. No matter whether a republican or democrat runs for office there are requirements. Well at least for republicans there are. According to you and the Obaminions he doesn't have to follow the law and that's just fine with you as long as the person is in your "club".

The only thing right or wrong about this issue is whether or not he will show the bc.

He was wrong for not showing it, and all of his followers who don't think for themselves and just drink the Kool-Aid and be good little worshipers and repeat what he and his media outlets tell you to are wrong for not questioning.

When he shows the bc and an independent group (you know, one that's not paid for by the political party that's benefiting from them), have verified that it's correct, then and only then can Obama say...I was wrong for not showing it sooner.

Not dizzy here, but you must be from spinning your little tale. Now I'm the one ROFLMAO :-)

Whatever! - mbmt

No, the proof was not on "Faux News" aw, haw haw haw, Faux news, that's so funny, I'm just holding my gut from laughing so hard at that one. Did you make that one up yourself.

Well actually I couldn't tell you if it was on FOX News because I don't watch that, but I did see the records. Funny thing is that once it's on record and hard paper it just doesn't seem to be able to go away.

Just because you don't want it to be true doesn't mean it isn't.

Yeah, big WHATEVER right back!

As someone who questioned - Obama's citizenship

[ In Reply To ..]
I'm glad to finally lay this to rest. I think it is rather rich of our president to blame others for continually bringing up this matter when he could have put it to rest when it first started. I'm not a huge Trump fan, but at least we all finally have the truth now. I will even be the first to admit that I was wrong. He was born in Hawaii and I have no problem admitting that. I'm glad our president finally showed us his BC and we can finally put this argument to rest.

However, we still have this issue: When Barack Obama Jr. was born on Aug. 4,1961, in Honolulu, Kenya was a British colony. As a Kenyan native, Barack Obama Sr. was a British subject whose citizenship status was governed by The British Nationality Act of 1948. That same act governed the status of Obama Sr.'s children:

British Nationality Act of 1948 (Part II, Section 5): Subject to the provisions of this section, a person born after the commencement of this Act shall be a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies by descent if his father is a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies at the time of the birth.

In other words, at the time of his birth, Barack Obama Jr. was both a U.S. citizen (by virtue of being born in Hawaii) and a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies (or the UKC) by virtue of being born to a father who was a citizen of the UKC.

Is a person eligible to be president if they have ever had a dual citizenship, which our president obviously had. When Kenya formally gained its independence from the United Kingdom. Chapter VI, Section 87 of the Kenyan Constitution specifies that:

1. Every person who, having been born in Kenya, is on 11th December, 1963 a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies or a British protected person shall become a citizen of Kenya on 12th December, 1963...

2. Every person who, having been born outside Kenya, is on 11th December, 1963 a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies or a British protected person shall, if his father becomes, or would but for his death have become, a citizen of Kenya by virtue of subsection (1), become a citizen of Kenya on 12th December, 1963.

As a citizen of the UKC who was born in Kenya, Obama's father automatically received Kenyan citizenship via subsection (1). So given that Obama qualified for citizen of the UKC status at birth and given that Obama's father became a Kenyan citizen via subsection (1), it follows that Obama did in fact have Kenyan citizenship after 1963.

However, it also states that Kenya recognizes dual citizenship for children, but Kenya's Constitution specifies that at age 23, Kenyan citizens who possess citizenship in more than one country automatically lose their Kenyan citizenship unless they formally renounce any non-Kenyan citizenship and swear an oath of allegiance to Kenya.

So the question remains, is Obama eligible to be president knowing that he had dual citizenship even though he may not now? Just a thought.

Natural born citizen: Person born in the US - RadMT

[ In Reply To ..]
Donald Trump's mother was born in Scotland in 1912 and immigrated to America when she was around 18 or 19. I have not been able to find information as to where she became a naturalized US citizen. Was she a dual citizen?

Do you believe Trump would be eligible or does he need to provide further clarification?

I believe that anyone who announces - a run for the presidency

[ In Reply To ..]
should have to prove that they are a natural born citizen with no dual citizenship. If they don't have to, what is the point of having that rule? If there is a question of his eligibility, it should be looked into. I really don't think he will run anyway....but if he does and there is a question, it should be looked into.

After this mess with Obama and his BC and the turmoil this has caused (which is obvious from the fights and verbal attacks on this board) I believe these are things that should be looked at early on before a candidate even gets on the ballot. These sort of things should be laid to rest before anyone is voted into the WH.

I just think if Obama would have done this a lot sooner, it would have saved everyone a big headache. I don't know why he waited this long. This whole issue should have been sorted out and put to rest before the election. Same goes for any potential presidential candidate regardless of their skin color, political party, or really bad comb over hair. lol
Agreed! It is just so amusing to me that a - guy with really bad

I Applaud What President Obama SaidMay 04, 2011
