It's not a matter of "hoping". It's just the simple facts. Everyone had a lot of hope for this young senator to be able to do something, but he is proving every day he was never qualified for job and the destruction of the country is not something anyone "hopes" for.

Obama's approval ratings could use some good news, but Republicans in Congress would love to have his numbers. Interestingly, as his numbers go down, theirs are not going up.

What "conservatives" refer to as as "socialism" is actually protectionism and/or interventionist capitalism. They like the term "republic" better, but a "republic" is actually a synonym for democracy. It is government of the people, by the people, for the people, where the majority rules (whether or not the minority likes the majority vote).

Does being a "republic" preclude socialism or communism? No. Would it surprise you to know that a republic can be socialist? Yes? Don't tell the Russians you can't be socialist and a republic.

By freeloaders, you mean someone who pays no/less taxes? You should know that the majority of the actual "freeloaders" (not a term I would use) live in the Red states, pay less taxes, receive more aid from the Federal government, and actually vote for Republicans.

Additionally, just because an individual may pay no federal "income taxes" does not mean they are not paying taxes at all to the federal government in the form of payroll taxes. So no one who is working is really a "freeloader," and a lot of the retired elderly and wounded and disabled veterans that actually don't work, I guess, would fit your definition. Have you considered that there are also quite a number of individuals with lots and lots of money who pay very little taxes? Rich people's tax burdens are actually smaller.

So based on that definition, freeloaders include some unemployed children, unemployed adult college students with financial aid, unemployed veterans being retrained in college through GI bill or Chapter 31, unemployed disabled veterans unable to be retrained--wounded warriors, and unemployed/retired seniors. And let's not forget the unemployed wives and children of the soldiers killed in action defending their country (or nation-building, as the case may be).

That's just a list of your typical American "freeloaders" (not a word I would use).
