Message to libs: Stop opposing and

I've spent the past 2 months marveling at the ignorance of the left with respect to President Trump.

Ignorance? Yes - BLIND ignorance, which is the failure to grasp the simple fact that Trump is neither a conservative, a liberal, an independent, a socialist, a libertarian or ANYTHING ELSE.

Trump could have been played like a fiddle because he's not married to any particular political viewpoint - but the left blew their chance to cultivate an environment of influence with him. Failing to grasp the drivers that motivate Trump, the left launched torpedoes that turned around and blew up their own ships.

I don't feel the least bit sorry for them. When you allow yourself to be driven by hatred instead of reason, you can count on nothing good happening for you.

Trump was malleable. Trump would listen to any reasonable idea. Trump was anything but a "conservative"...and you blew yourself out of the water. If the left become any more ignorant than they already are, we'll have to replace them with blocks of concrete.

First, the Trump administration is far too new to call anything about it a "failure" but that's not the point that was made.

The point was simply the colossal ignorance of the left about Trump and a much more sophisticated approach to dealing with him than what they're doing, which will not bode well for them in 2018. Nothing they're doing now will bring any votes over to their side.

Taking one thing with another, you might conclude that I am a conservative, but you would be wrong because I also agree with certain principles that come from the liberal side of the aisle.

It's time to grow up, people. If you're a liberal, you don't have all the ideas or solutions, and if you're a conservative, ditto.

If we can ever get back to the point that we can incorporate the best ideas for our problems regardless of where they might originate, we still have a chance of rescuing this experiment in self-governance.

This means rejecting the efforts of the power-brokers to divide us into warring camps, and thereby to conquer all of us while we're fighting amongst ourselves.

It takes a lot of courage to admit to yourself that maybe you (and your tribe) don't have ALL the answers. To acknowledge the need to listen to other points of view. To admit to yourself that your reality is not the ultimate test of ALL reality.

...but the freedom that comes from doing so is deliciously sweet.

If so, why do you think this is? If not, why is there so much criticism of him and his family.

Not a fan of politics or necessarily Trump but it does seem every move he makes is made a big deal of in a critical manner. Watched a little Morning Joe on MSNBC and at least 30-40 minutes I watched was spent on criticizing Trump (and son-in-law). It makes me wonder why they (general left leaning media and political opponents) devote so much time to try to take him down.

What I see is far more serious than that. I see an effort to - destroy the Constitution itself.

The constitution provides the means by which a President is elected. It also defines the distinct (and DELIBERATELY LIMITED) powers and responsibilities of the three branches of government.

When Obama was elected, I was very disappointed, but I would never have endorsed any opposition to his agenda other than whatever lawful means are provided by the Constitution and relevant Federal statutes, ranging from freedom to express my views to voting for representatives to Congress who I believe reflect my views.

Violence, denying individuals their constitutional right to speak, judge-shopping in the courts, shouting down representatives in their town-hall meetings...none of these is a legitimate form of opposition.

I vote for presidents not for how they can be manipulated by either party, but for what they represent, both in character and in policy.

Trump chose to run as a Republican, the Republicans accepted him as their candidate, although they tried to resist for awhile. They could have told him no, they could have said he doesn't represent their party (which he really doesn't). They just didn't want him to run as an independent and spoil their chances.

Sorry, but this is Trump's disaster to own and the Republican party is going to go down with that ship, as they deserve to.

How about speaking up when he and his minions decided to CHANGE THE REPUBLICAN PLATFORM to favor Russia's takeover of Ukraine? Didn't anyone wonder about that? I know Rachel Maddow did, but what about Fox, A-okay with that?

Sorry, but I do NOT think the ability to be manipulated is a good characteristic in the President of the USA. If you do, continue manipulating him, by all means. The Republicans have done it because they know Trump couldn't care less, as long as someone else does the work. But their ideas are not winning the hearts and minds of anyone, which is possibly why they latched onto Trump since he seemed to be the Trojan horse which they could push through their horrible bills.

If I wanted something I did not have enough money for, I have made a case to them why this is a reasonable request (first my father when younger, then my husband). I used logic and reason proving my case. Never once did I play the female card or try to be coy.

That is the premise of using REASON instead of manipulation. That is what Democrats could do instead of bashing Trump if they wanted their proposals accepted and advanced by Trump and Republicans.

I say he is not listening to anyone but his closest cronies and has already written off listening to anyone who is not at least in the Republican party. The fact that his tax plan and the healthcare plan that he so desperately wants to pass will hurt a huge part of his voter base shows that he will say and do anything that he is told will get him a win! That is what is paramount to him. Not keeping promises or helping the people who elected him. He will not listen to reasonable ideas because he has not shown that he is reasonable nor that he even comprehends some of the things that are being advised to him.

He just now tweeted that the Republicans need to change the voting numbers in the Senate to 51 so that they can blow through their horrible healthcare and tax plan. That goes to the poster noting that the Democrats are trying to change the constitution. Both sides are rank and need to be replaced and the party system needs to be revamped, but it won't be because there is too much money in it for them!

Pence has already distanced himself and is making himself ready to take over if need be. Not saying that he will need to, but he is already getting ready to. This says a lot about the Republican faith in this president!

So you are saying "many people thought..." just like Trumpy does and you are NOT saying, "despite the fact that it is not true." That is important because one is true and one is not.
