realize the WaPo PostPartisan section is by definition space devoted to partisan opinions. Ed Rogers is a republican strategist who often contributes to WaPo under the "insiders" banner. Why? Well, that's because he is the "R" component of the Washington BGR lobbyist conglomerate, previously known as Barbour (as in Haley), Griffith and Rogers, who now chairs the organization with offices in DC and London. Some of his more notable clients include Chevron Oil and embattled Mississippi GOP primary contender Thad Cochran against TP Chris Mc Daniel. That spectacle turned into an in-fighting fiasco when 4 arrests were made after the McDaniel camp posted the nursing home video of Cochran's wife, accusing Cochran of having affairs while she was getting care there. During the same contest, there was another scandal involving pro-Cochran race-baiting dog-whistle ads that eventually were traced back to Haley Barbour's nephew, Henry. BRG also had a heavy hand in K-Street style out-of-state fundraising for Wisconsin GOP's anti-worker activists after the contentious union busting bill "passed" when there were no democrats in the building. Most telling in the context of his Panetta promotion are his ties to what Eisenhower's cautionary reference called the military industrial complex.

My mom used to tell me what is said about a person by the company they keep. She also taught me to follow the money in all things political. BGR is flush with plenty of GOP bucks. While these creds may appeal to some who are trying to elevate and perpetuate this Panetta bookseller story to one of national significance, for others who take all things considered into account, not so much. I remain unconvinced that there isn't something afoot with Panetta that has less to do with current presidential policies and is more about who he'd like to see take that seat in 2016.

Panetta was Bill Clinton's Chief of Staff for several years, and obviously Hillary is who she is.

Conservatives and Obama haters who are all excited with their books need to clue in to the fact that it's just politics and they agree on some things and disagree on others. Obama surrounded himself with strong personalities who don't always agree on everything, and they already know their differences because they lived it. For instance, Panetta and Clinton advised to green light the op to go into Pakistan after who they thought was Bin Laden, while Biden and some others advised against it. Obama looked at all the intel and talked with his advisors and green lighted it, and the rest is history. Contrast Obama's group of strong personalities who don't always agree to Bush's team of "yes" men.

I'll take Obama's group and the Democrats every single time versus the lockstep conservatives marching us into disaster after disaster. Hillary has my vote if she runs, and the Democrat has my vote regardless.

I'd rather believe Gates, Clinton and Panetta - over an MT.

Sorry, but that is their realm. What they ALL say makes a lot of sense. What they ALL say is what we hear from the generals, secret service personnel, Dem senators, Dem house members, etc., etc.

The truth is, conservatives would generally rather believe whatever fits their worldview or that of the talking crazies on conservative media. Sorry, but that is the truth. Conservatives are now selectively agreeing with Hillary and Leon Panetta, but only certain parts of their books and not the other parts, even though that is still "their realm."

If she chooses to run, I wonder if they'll still be believing Hillary's book when she's President Clinton?

No matter how you twist things to fit with your liberal left wingnut propaganda machine, the truth is that the president has been a proven liar again and again and again. I will not enumerate all the examples here, but I'll give you a couple of points: "If you like your health plan," "not even a smidgen of corruption with the IRS," yadda yadda yadda ad nauseaum. Face it. This president is an epic fail who would not know the truth if it hit him in his *lead from behind* backside. I would rather believe what comes out of the mouths of Gates and Panetta and even a dishonest Clinton (whichever one as they both lie) any day over what comes out of Obama's mouth and most certainly over what comes out of an MT's mouth (BIG LOL).
