"The base is deeply encased within the - twisted, alternate-reality looking glass..."

[ In Reply To ..]
From the Huffington Post, no "MSM" softpedaling in this article by Bob Cesca. He describes some of our fellows here to a T:

"In the wake of the election, there's no doubt the Republican Party is capable of making some adjustments to rebrand itself. If nothing else, the party has demonstrated its proclivity for sloganeering and marketing and there are plenty of ways it can adjust its messaging. But it's obvious to anyone paying attention that the base simply won't allow the party to change in any meaningful way.

The base is deeply encased within the twisted, alternate-reality looking glass that the GOP has been constructing throughout the last three decades: a realm of anger, racial resentment, distrust of government, hatred of immigrants and violently anti-choice misogynists and demagogues.

The party has deliberately incited these tendencies via the conservative entertainment complex, as David Frum called it on Morning Joe -- AM talk radio, Fox News Channel and the like -- and augmented it with the generous contributions of wealthy financiers who bankroll everything from astroturf campaigns to the bulk-purchasing of every book-length screed by Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, Michelle Malkin and Glenn Beck.

The problem this creates, of course, is that the Republican Party has been consumed by misinformed idiots with no substantial connection to the real world, and the first post-election PPP poll only serves to amplify this conclusion."

Seriously... they're resorting to parroting while making a few not-so-clever changes to prior statements like 5-year-olds and aren't even creative or funny in their comebacks. Just ignore them so they go away.

By that I assume you mean the conservatives who disagree - with the many liberals here? (sm)

I think she means those posts that say things like "Obama is a communist and we are all doomed" (and that's a relatively nice one LOL) and people who make a 1 sentence ridiculous post with nothing to back up what they are saying except maybe quoting Limbaugh.
I disagree with you - sm

People who write that Obama is communist/socialist because he is. It doesn't matter that you don't like to hear it, it's the simple truth. I don't know how many more times we can explain that to posters here. His policies, his ideations, his mentors, his family, his dreams he wants to implement are all communist/socialist ideas. It doesn't matter that you don't like to hear it, facts are facts. You cannot change facts. If you agree with him and his ideas (redistributing all of our wealth/assets, seizing guns, changing the constitution, socialized healthcare (for us that is, not him and his cronies), and the list goes on and on and on. Do your own independent research and the information is overwhelming, but first you need to learn about socialism, communism, or fascism to understand it. You just cannot change facts because it hurts your feelings. If you agree with Obama and his socialist ideas, then that makes you a socialist. If you love it so much you should be proud of your party (not you personally, anyone who believes what he is doing is "good".

These are very distressing times we live in. You call it "doomed" in an attempt to ridicule, we call it informed.

If you want to talk about "1 sentence ridiculous posts" here are some for you:

You've been ignored, but you keep coming back - You troll "seriously" you're not &a

communist, socialist, liberal, progressive, and moderate, centrist and conservative democratic ideological systems are not qualified to assess President Obama or his supporters political character(s) or their beliefs. Though it may not be evident recently, the GOP also encompasses a much broader range than the current-day seemingly monolithic rightward lurch toward extreme conservatism. Instead, there are also centrist, moderate, purist, right-of-center, conservative, neoconservative, and far-right wing factions under that tent as well. On the right-of center side of the conservative spectrum, these various sects can be further broken down in terms of various social, fiscal, Christian, Evangelical, etc delineations.

All of these political persuasions have separate roots, histories, philosophies, foci, evolutions, degrees, geographic cultural and ecologic extents of support. THAT is the truth the winger propaganda machine has blinded you to. Don't take my word for it. Even Joe Scarborough (a RINO to the more extreme factions), who dubs this force as the Right-Wing Media Industrial Complex, decries its metastatic, cancerous, destructive influence on the GOP. His pessimism toward reversing this trend and predictions that the GOP will be suffering its consequences for a protracted period of time moving forward, is a view shared by many politically savvy folks on both sides of the aisle.

One would be hard pressed to find any single leader or supporter who does not embody a synthesis of these different political systems when it comes time to examine their approach to policy advocacy. Obama and the voters who sent him to the White House for his first and second terms are no exception. In fact, the body politic that either lent or withdrew their support for him in 2008 vs 2013 do not have the exact same composition.

Therefore, it is apparent that, once again, we have a post based on a false premise, making further comment on its contents an exercise in futility.

This is "in the dark": Obama is communist/socialist because he is.

Don't get me wrong. I want to hear opposing viewpoints. But they have to be real viewpoints, not hot rhetoric. False syllogisms and bad logic do not take the place of intelligent discussion.

Do your own independent research and the information is overwhelming, but first you need to learn about socialism, communism, or fascism to understand it. You just cannot change facts because it hurts your feelings.

Get it? Distribution of wealth, socialized health care, taking away peoples rights, implimenting a dictator - Those are all socialist ideations. Again, you cannot change facts just because it hurts your feelings. - Do your own independent research (i.e. not MSNBC, FOX, CNN, NPR, or HUFF. Try sources written by independent people and even other countries who know. Read what the people who survived in Germany have to say.

Facts are facts no matter whether or not you like them.
repeating a non-fact makes it a non-fact twice - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Repeating something doesn't make it fact. Believing something doesn't make it fact.

Ideation and ideology are two different words.

I don't have cable, so you don't even need to tell me what not to watch.
Ignoring facts because they hurt your feelings - still make them facts.
[ In Reply To ..]
Repeating a fact still makes it a fact. That's kind of the querky things about facts. If you repeat it it doesn't change that it's a fact and ignoring it because you don't like it or it hurts your feelings doesn't change a fact into a non-fact.

What I was trying to explain was that you need to start doing some independent research. You can watch whatever you want to, but you also need to learn what sites are independent. Research who is writing the stuff. Heck, read Obama's own words (oh wait, you don't seem to think those are facts).

Independent research is in integral part of learning things. I learned many things I didn't like, however, just because I didn't like them did not mean they were not facts. Sometimes we have to learn to live outside the box.
Obama is a communist because he is... - just is not a fact
[ In Reply To ..]
that's all. End of story.
Not end of story - you still haven't researched? - and not just what you like to hear
[ In Reply To ..]
Again, just because it hurts your feelings or you don't like it cannot erase facts.

How many times we have to explain it? Even in his own word his "hopes and dreams". His mother, father, grandparents, mentor/possible father, the groups and associations he belongs to, the communist party that supports, him, Ayres, all of them. His plans, his words, his actions.

The Base - The GOP Base

[ In Reply To ..]
The GOP needs "the base" or it will become completely irrelevant and powerless. We will not continue to support them or to vote for their candidates. We, like you, have our beliefs, our ideals, we believe in our country's past greatness and that it can be restored. We believe in limited govt and personal freedom, we believe in liberty, the right to fail as well as the right to succeed. We believe in family, we believe in God our King, who is moral, just and merciful, and expects the same of us. We believe in the right to enjoy the fruits of our labor, and, above all, the right of the innocent to life. We will have a political party just as you liberals do, and if the GOP continues to abandon "the base" the base will abandon the GOP, and go elsewhere. We are not going away, we believe as passionately and strongly as you do in what you believe (although I am not sure exactly what liberals do believe, it sometimes seems pretty incoherent, contradictory and confused.) We will NOT stop voting, we will have a political party, we will not stop working to return this country to what it used to be, the Shining City on the Hill.
