Know what stands out like a sore thumb? sm

Posted: Sep 4, 2012

At the RNC the audience was predominantly white (as in I only saw like 3 black folks the whole time), very uptight, filled with suits, speeches had angry undertones, and of course there was the nut throwing incident as well as the physical assault.

Now I know it's early, but thus far at the DNC I see a completely diverse group of folks who seem to be happy and excited. I detect no tension. On top of this is the involvement and inclusion of REGULAR PEOPLE in this event including local events before and scheduled after the event. This makes me proud

I was watching CSPAN and saw a diverse group of people of all races.

Maybe you should stop watching the slanted stations and start watching a completely neutral station, such as CSPAN. You would be much better informed.

Maybe you should stop watching the slanted stations and start watching a completely neutral station, such as CSPAN. You would be much better informed on policy and people. Wink

Interesting. I only watch C-Span when I know (sm) - Conservative 2

the LSM will be spinning like tops, (most of the time?) It's funny how you notice an entirely different group of people when you are not watching the Joke News Stations. Some will never learn, though. Hook, line and sinker, they buy the spin. That's why O is president in the first place.

Wow. Guess this post blows the notion of lib "elitists" - clean out of the water.

I listen to as many news outlets as I possibly can to try to get a grip on national dialog. Sometimes this involved placing a clothespin firmly over the nasal structures, but I do it all the same. CSPAN is a good "go to" over the weekend news desert. BTW, I find information snobs to be an unimpressive bunch of folks.

Have you figured out how you're going to tie NAFTA to India yet? lol.

I make an observation, and the first thing you do is try to discredit my observations (?) by saying I'm uninformed? Nice job...almost.

I'm not trying to discredit you. I assumed something - backwards typist

like others on this board do when it's not to their liking; i.e., telepathy at work.

Get it? ;-) If not, I better work on my writing skills.

I can discredit your observations. There was plenty of diversity - including orange people

I saw a tangerine with the most beautiful blue eyes ever give a speech.

And, taking into consideration where the assault took place, it could very well turn out that the woman wasn't "truly" assaulted.. therefore, no big deal. However, on the other hand, I don't know if there is any recovering from having your actions deemed to be "immature behavior" by John Sununu (!), so I may be wrong. Either way, consider yourself discredited. lol
I'm talking about the crowd....sm - JTBB
[ In Reply To ..]
not token speakers, where the RNC thought they could actually pull votes by sticking latinos on stage, but never state anything about issues relating to those latinos...that was simply a poor attempt at identity politics.

If the lady in question wasn't "truly" assaulted, then why the apology?
Pssst... I agree with you. - sm

I was just being honest. The only color I didn't see was bright pink (as in Code Pink) until today when I found the other story.

I curious to know why y'all don't think CSPAN is neutral. Care to comment?

My opinion, Liberals here do that to EVERY - conservative post. (sm):::

I've noticed that, too, JTBB -- - (see message)

-- that when the camera pans the crowd at the RNC, the vast majority are Caucasians....it's like a sea of pinkish-tan skin. :-D I guess that plays very well in the world of "We Want Our Country Back" -- back to whatever idealized, segregated communities some people would love to see, I guess. Trouble is, that's not what the real America looks like.

I love to see the crowd at the DNC and the Obama rallies and see the beautiful variety of skin tones and faces, getting along, working together -- the way I feel the human race was meant to be.

Some people have forgotten the history of this land and how non-white the first inhabitants of it were. The area of the country that is now California was already occupied by Mexicans, and they welcomed the white settlers. Now, of course, southern Californians are nearly apoplectic that Hispanics are "taking over."

"We want our country back" -- indeed.

yeahhh - seriously

Eutopia.. and the falsehoods it brings.. I agree - CSPAN is best to see if from NO ANGLE, RIGHT OR LEFT.. oh, those "rose-colored" glasses of the followers of each party.... the FUTURE of America is at hand, and 48.6% of Americans out there vote according to their handout from the govt (AKA the working taxpayers)..careful, people, when the handouts/entitlements topple to 51%, the country implodes.. look at history.. this is not a game.. our children's lives and their children's lives are at stake here, but the grownups (so-called) refuse to fight. It's sad.

I was more focused on speakers... - SK1

I don't concern myself too much with audience demographics since I'm the one doing the voting. What's a "regular person," anyway?

I didn't hear many angry undertones during the RNC convention.... passionate, yes. Maybe it's a fine line between the two.

Just heard Richard Trumka's speech today, though. Now THAT guy sounds angry to me.

You've got to be joking - Race bait muich?

[ In Reply To ..]
Please tell me you were joking. I really cannot believe anyone would make a statement like that when it's not true.

Negro spotting much? There were many people at the convention from all ethnic origins. Is that all you can think of, how many blacks in a crowd. That is totally racist and I take offense to your statement.

Yes, it is early. You do not know how many people from each race are going to show up. The DNC has not happened yet so you don't know. If its anything like their last convention I'm sure I'll see a lot of white people there, but then again that's not why I watch it. I'm sure you will find the same amount as there were at the RNC even though you'll never admit it. You seem to think the DNC only has black people.

As for happy and excited people to be there, yes of course there will be. People who go to the conventions are happy and excited. Just like they were at the RNC. Happy fellow Americans of all ethnic groups (i.e. black, white, hispanic, indian, etc) men, women, and children. At the RNC I saw many blacks, whites, indians, etc. I saw older people and I saw happy young people. Happy that we will be having a new change in parties come November. It's nice to know and makes me proud that so many people of different ages and backgrounds are concerned about what is going on in politics and what is happening to their country. And with 23 million people out of work (way to go democrats) people are getting smarter about politics.

So, negro spotting makes you proud? We have a saying in our community/family about that "That's mighty white of you."

But then again, that is not what the conventions are for (i.e. counting blacks). That is totally insulting, racist, and no place in today's America or anywhere in the country for it. We are in the year 2012 and your mindset and focus is 1960s. No wonder why the democrats are going down. They are trying to take American back to the 50s and 60s when blacks were oppressed and held back, but hey, get your counter out so you can count up how many token blacks there are at each convention. That is the worst racist and race baiting statement I've ever seen and exactly why I don't belong to the democrat party. Hey guess what, we are intelligent human beings too. We've earned the right to the same things white people have and belong to whatever party we choose. Hey, did you know some of us even have a college degree? We are human beings, our opinions on issues, our families, our children education and future, health care, etc are what is important to us, not what race we are or how many of us are going to the convention.

And hey, you don't see too many black people hanging around Obama now do you. If he is so concerned about our race you would think he'd have more black people, but no, just a bunch of old white guys in the democrat party.

Trying to pull a race card where none should be. SHAME SHAME SHAME ON YOU!

That's very "white" of me? sm - JTBB

[ In Reply To ..]
Exactly when did an observation of racial diversity at a function become racial baiting?

What makes you think I'm white anyway? Would it be so terrible to make an observation about how many people "like me" actually attended this function? It may be many things, but shameful is not one of those things. You get to own that one.

Knew you'd respond, just didn't know it would be - immediately trying to bury my post

[ In Reply To ..]
Never said I thought you were white. But your posts do nothing for our community. Usually we don't say racist things about ourselves. What you wrote just show how much of a racist your statements are.

We are involved in politics, we go to conventions. Believe it or not (I'm going with not) many of us are Rebulicans and many of us don't do negro spotting. That kind of gave it away.

No, didn't think you'd ever take responsibility or remorseful for playing the race card. But guess what, since race is so important to you, there are plenty of your people that attend the DNC. DNC is just not all black people.

Negro spotting is the worst form of racism. And you are so proud.

Shame, shame, shame.
Exactly how am I burying your post...sm - JTBB

When I am the OP for this thread and the only response I've had since this post has been in response to you? Hate to bust your bubble, but the only thing you're accomplishing here is making a fool of yourself.

Negro spotting...that seems to be a new term here. You know, when we were kids, we used to spot VW bugs on roadtrips. Perhaps you and yours have a different twist to that game :/
My guess would be about the same as why you think posters - try to bury yours
[ In Reply To ..]
Did you read the article called 5 reasons why Negro Spotting at the Republican Convention is Stupid. Just saw the article. If I had seen it before it would have been posted before, so yes, it's new to this board.

The only fools are the ones race baiting when there should be none.

Sitting and picking out black people and counting how many are in a crowd is racist. You are treating us like all that matters to you is our color.

Picking out black people in a crowd is much different than spotting automobiles on the road.

Not even a nice try. I'd say wanna try again, but please don't. Every time you try and justify your racism comments you just make a fool of yourself.

Sore Pinky FingerSep 29, 2010
Anyone else ever have trouble with their pinky finger getting really sore? My pinky finger has been really sore lately. State Sen. As a state representative at the time, Brown was one out of only three legislators who had opposed the overwhelmingly bipartisan measure. As ThinkProgress reported on Saturday, at the same time Brown was voting against the 9/11 rescue workers bill, he sponsored House Bill 4 ...
