Justice Dept gets attacked for trying to protect Asian Americans
Posted: Aug 3, 2017
The Justice Department was attacked as racist due to a false New York Times story claiming the DOJ was working to protect white students from discrimination.
The Times story inferred that an internal personnel posting seeking volunteers to investigate “possible litigation related to intentional race-based discrimination in college and university admissions” was meant to look at policies discriminating “against white applicants.”
The Daily Caller first reported that a DOJ source said this Times article “appears to assume it deals with white students without evidence.” DOJ spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores later put out a statement confirming this.
“Press reports regarding the personnel posting in the Civil Rights Division have been inaccurate. The posting sought volunteers to investigate one administrative complaint filed by a coalition of 64 Asian-American associations in May 2015 that the prior Administration left unresolved,” Flores wrote. “The complaint alleges racial discrimination against Asian Americans in a university’s admissions policy and practices.”
The May 2015 complaint centered around Asian-Americans claiming they got passed over for worse students due to quotas at Ivy League schools.
...
The incorrect Times story, however, let off a firestorm of hate directed towards the Trump administration.

the STEM fields in the world and the world’s best came to them. We made it easy for them to stay here after they earned their degrees and thus we stayed more easily on top of the world by sucking off the brains of the world. There was no complaint back then about the foreigners taking American jobs because we had rational business policies, relative low taxes on business and low regulation compared to the rest of the industrialized world. The constant added fuel of foreign brains just fired up the economic engine even hotter.
I am part of a Vietnamese language parish so a big chunk of the local VN community are my friends. Outside of the girls who go into the nail shops where even many of the hi IQ ones go because of the instant and long-term incomes, a high percentage of the kids go to university. Most used to go to med school to become doctors. With the collapsing profitability of that specialty the kids are mostly going into the peripheral medical specialties like radiology and therapy where there is still a lot of money and you don't have to fork over huge amounts of it for liability insurance and you are not limited by humungous amounts of paper and keyboard work and you don't have to work for the half dozen huge corporations. Sometimes they have to apply to quite a few institutions to get an acceptance because the Asian quotas are heavily over subscribed.
It would not bother me a bit to see the universities with 50% or as many more than that as qualify by merit of Asians or any other single group that had that merit advantage. I am for a purely merit based admissions policy for university.
If Federal financing of universities or of schools in general were to totally disappear, merit based admissions would gain a whole lot of ground. It is the government money, direct and student loans that allows the schools to play favorites and, another subject I suppose, to offer nothing courses from which no living can be made.
We can look at numerous colleges campuses and see the - result of admissions based on quotas.

allow only those students who merit entrance academically into college, acceptance. No one should be accepted into college based on race, skin color or wealth nor turned away based on the same. I am absolutely all for abolishing affirmative action and instituting equality across the board. Hard work, dedication, that's what should drive college admissions and employment.
