SO many parallels, Great Depression caused by greed of - wealthy, unhappy angry America, etc., etc.

It's hopeful to remember that that era and that progressive leader and progressive Republican AND Democratic Congress created an era of unprecedented prosperity for almost ALL of us. We can do it again.

AMEN. - (see message)

It's just beyond me how so many normal, Main Street Americans today can disagree with a speech like this.

Some have chosen their side and only accept information that confirms - their choices. Like Lincoln's people

who can be fooled all the time. When I was kid I thought he was talking about basically innocent ignorant people being taken gross advantage of. Now I know the large majority of them are self-made fools who insist on being fed the lies that suit them.

All a politician, radio host, or would-be religious leader needs to do is wrap those lies around their agenda and they'll gobble it right up and wait eagerly for more.

thanks for this, VTMT - sm

It was almost heartbreaking to read. It would appear our political system has seen little progress in the ensuing 75 years: "The very employers and politicians and publishers who talk most loudly of class antagonism and the destruction of the American system now undermine that system by this attempt to coerce the votes of the wage earners of this country."

Poll: 39% Of Democrats Want Obama To Run For A Third TermNov 08, 2014
"The atmosphere before the midterm elections apparently didn't do a thing to chasten Obama's most hardcore, Democrat fans. A new poll shows that nearly a third of those Democrats surveyed wish Obama could have a third term. A new Economist/YouGov poll that was conducted just before the elections certainly showed that overall a large number of respondents are unhappy with Obama, but there was also a large number of Democrats who thought that Obama was so great that he deserve ...

Abuse Of The Term Main Stream Media - Which I Love!May 15, 2011
I am a lover of Main Stream Media. The more I see of some of the weirdness outside the mainstream news sources, the more thankful I am that we have a good source of news that we can depend upon. Is anyone else sick and tired of hearing the term, "Main Stream Media" as if it were a bad thing, and then to make it worse, Sarah Palin's ignorant use of it as the cutsey term, "Lame Stream Media"?
